It was written by Pau for Pau. A panic attack set to music. Therapy thru music as it were. She never intended it to be public. Even when she agreed to let it be added to the album the producer didn’t touch it. Recorded at home, produced by Pau.
Sometimes all you need is a phone, an out-of-tune piano, and a heart. Her version of Radiohead's *Creep* is similarly done. And it's masterful.

Is one of the most heart felt songs I've ever heard so now we know why at tetro metropolitan concert they played a recording of the song but still when you look out in the crowd and see all the flashlights wavering still makes you feel a certain way

wasn't that one of the most beautifully vulnerable performances, ever? she only allowed this song to be included on Error on the condition that she never have to perform it live. This is the only time that it ever *has* been performed live.
From what I know, this one was a part of her working through the death of someone very close to her.

They're releasing official videos of this performance one song at a time. I can't wait for them to get around to releasing this one. I've heard that Pau's doctor gave her steriods just so she could have enough energy to get through the show. This was the largest show they have headlined to date (soon to be eclipsed next February by two sold out shows at 10K a pop). They certainly didn't want to cancel or postpone this one. I don't think she has ever revealed fully what the song is about. There has been speculation among fans who think it's about a friend who died (possibly suicide). I know she has lost some close friends over the years, so it is possible. But as open as she seems to be about everything to do with TW, like her two sisters, she is also a deeply private person about her personal life. And that should be respected.
I agree... if she chooses not to share what it's about, that's completely understandable.
Concerts in Mexico, where they have full control of everything from sound to lights and stage design, they can record whatever they like so their performance shines even better. There are still tickets available for Guadalajara and Monterrey concerts. All international fans that travel to see them, should give a try to these concerts. Cheers!!

@@jrgenervik9977 I believe it is true, Doctors do give steroids all the time. They are a legal drug and they cure bad infections also.

Every time I see this I just want to give her a big hug and tell her it's gonna be OK. I have struggled with terrible depression all my life, and to me this song perfectly describes how that feels to me. I've never been able to put it into words, but she did. She's a treasure.
Yes, the song is very personal to Pau. Believe it's about , or because of, the loss of a friend. It wasn't supposed to be released, but the label wanted 1 more song for the 3rd album Error. Pau gave it up with the stipulation she wouldn't have to perform it live. Not sure why she decided to perform this here. Afaik, it's the only time she has, I could be wrong though.
The reason is that she thought they wouldn't have a sold out show at the Pepsi Center and her manager Rudy told her the tickets are sold out and I have a piano for you to play Breathe live, because it was a bet they made when tickets were still on sale and Pau lost so he had to fulfill his bet.

Sorry. Pau didn't have to pronto get off the stage. She had to *PRONTO GO BACK TO HER DRUM KIT* while the stage hands remove the piano. So the *String Assemble* could begin the intro for the next song on the setlist (no use to ruin that for Mrs. Realistic by naming it) as Dany & Ale returns to join their sister again on stage. Even though Pau wasn't feeling 100% that night due to having a fever. She felt the 100% love the audience of 8,000 tossed at her & her sisters (and The Warning Team) that night.
As they say: *THE SHOW MUST GO ON.*

I still can't watch this without the water works hitting me every time I see Pau cry. This also hits me in my own personal way, and I wanted it played at my Father's Graveside Service. Thank you @@MrsRealistic Even Black Holes reminds me of my Father, but not because of addiction. He suffered from Dementia, and he was always in denial about his condition, but in one rare moment of honesty, he admitted to me that his memory was filled with 'black holes'. It's a very difficult thing to watch someone you love slip away.

Some of the best songs had been borne out of pathos across cultures throughout the world. Pau is a master at tugging our heartstrings with her delivery. Plus the depth & the feeling of her poetry.
How helpless & desperate can some one be, to say "Can't call for help, so I'll just call my name"?
That is one desolate soul with no one to turn to.
Pau could have won so many awards in literature had she published her poetry. Hope she does it in the future. Surely among the top most intellectuals of her generation, any generation actually, I wish she gets to meet Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney & Roger Waters before they pass away.
Mexico recognized her intellectualism early this year, when Pau was conferred the "Decididas Global Awards 2024" along with a Colombian astronaut. A visibly overwhelmed Pau started her acceptance speech with typical humility - "I found it difficult to believe that an ordinary drummer like me was chosen for this award amidst such a stellar array of engineers, scientists, artists, leaders, professors, etc. Then my mother explained that this was a recognition for contribution to the society......"
I am a grown man. When I heard this song the first time, I wept like a small child because this young woman touched my soul.

As I understand it it's about losing a very close friend and feeling guilty about trying to move on...wanting to linger in the grief, and trying to force herself to be okay.

Probably one of the most beautiful moments in a concert I've ever seen when 8000 fans finish the song for Pau out of love I'm always broken. Don't worry to cry when listening this simple masterpiece. It's all about emotions. I cry too and have goosebumps everytime. This band i'm following since the beginning is the best discover i had since a long time. I'm a 65 old musician who can only play home now but i'll never stop, and can say music litteraly saved my life from big health issues. And it's because of bands like this. Such personnality , kindness, sensibility are priceless. ♥

As far as I'm aware, this is the first and only time that Pau has played Breathe for an audience. When she presented the song to the record label as a bonus track for the Error album, she did so on the condition that she would never be asked to perform it live. So, imagine the collective shock of the 8,000 fans at the concert and the thousands of us watching live, online, when she played those initial two notes, during her talk, prior to playing. For me, the thoughts going through my head were, "Oh my God! Pau's going to sing Breathe" and also, "We might not live through this." I'm well aware of Pau's ability to evoke emotions and if any song was going to hit me in the feels, it was going to be this one. Just seeing the images of the video in my RUclips feed bering me back to that moment. The audio and video recording is totally unnecessary. It was a once in a lifetime performance and it's etched on my memory forever.
I watched this concert live streamed and i just about had a heart attack when i saw Pau start to play this song. She is simply an amazing young woman.
I belive she played black holes on the piano before breathe so already going from 1 heavy song to another aswell and ye it was added as it was in mexico and wanting to make a special show i think.
This is the best version of this so far, but I can't wait to see the official pro shot version soon to be released!!

In both “23” and “Breathe” Pau is singing, “Is it Wrong?” I think she means is it wrong not to be “normal.” Because obviously Pau is not “normal.” She is a genius musician and songwriter at a very young age. Still just 22. So I’m sure that has felt very weird. Especially when she was a teenager. The way in which Pau has articulated these feelings is so meaningful to so many people now is intense. It is not wrong! I hope Pau knows this, and I think she does. The new songs are full of swagger. I think she is putting self-doubt behind her, for the most part.
You're right! Two songs she is asking if she is wrong about something. She obviously reacts to things in her life and must question if what she is feeling is different from what others would feel. I suspect we all go through that on occasions, it just takes someone with Pau's mind to articulate it.

This is the sweat girl who I first saw setting on a drum in a picture in a magazine.
In my opinion, there was probably uncertainty as to whether Breathe was going to be played right up to the moment. It seems to me that they left the opportunity for Pau to not play this song. As it was, because of the emotion involved, the transition into this song got kind of messed up. She played an rendition of Black Holes on the piano then she never really paused playing notes and it seemed clear she was going to keep playing, something. As she transitioned into Breathe, the lights all went off for a moment and then came back on as she began talking about how she had said she would never play this song but wanted to play it for the fans. I believe that this song was going to be a dramatic surprise in that the lights would go off after Black Holes and she would just begin performing Breathe as the lights came back on. I remember this night. I was out at another concert and when I got home I pulled up one of the live streams people were playing from their phones at the concert. In the chat, I said that I had just got online and did anything unusual happen. Immediately, someone said "Pau played Breathe". I little argument erupted in the chat because there was no way she played it, she said she would never play it!
What a beautiful, heart wrenching song from Paulina. She poured her heart out in front of 8000 loving fans, she is a incredible young woman. Wonderful reaction Mrs. R. hard not to get emotional watching this, we never want to see any of the Ladies cry. The Ladies are slowly releasing all the songs from this absolutely EPIC concert (think there is 21 songs). They have released HYCAD, Disciple and couple days ago "Z". Eventually we will get them all and imagine this one and "Black Holes" will be coming. The concert release recordings are top notch so we will get to see this in all of it's glory. Cheers, stay well.

Pau wrote this as a bonus track on the LP only to be on LP not to be done at a show this is the only time they have done this .Imo it may have to do with someone thinking about ending it all or thinking about what it would be like at the end,being desperate for help😢.

For decades I thought I didn't like music. Turns out I'm autistic and struggle with understanding my own emotions. And music makes me feel soooo much that I just stopped listening. I'm glad I have it back in my life, even though I'm crying and it's not even 9am.

I believe this is the one and only time she has performed this song live. I read somewhere that when finishing up their ERROR LP they needed one more song for the end of the album and Pau agreed to include this one, recorded on their childhood out-of-tune piano, written and produced solely by Pau, with the agreement that she'd never perform it live.
She did this as a follow up to Black Holes. She did Black Holes with an orchestra and she was shocked when the entire audience was singing with her. That's why she decided to do Breathe. If you watch the right version of the Black Holes performance you can see some of the orchestra members tearing up.
They've touched so many souls with their music, me included. I owe them a debt of gratitude for that.❤

Pau is amazing and this video demonstrates her vulnerability and her emotional integrity. Dany wrote a song at 15 titled, "When I'm Alone" which is similarly vulnerable and filled with emotional integrity around her feelings of loneliness and longing. We've had pits (I can't tell if she's a pit or not) who were the most wonderful pets I've ever had. Our girl Maiden used to guard our chickens and try to mother baby bunnies 😆 Our kids could crawl all over her and she loved it. She was a gentle giant...all of our pits were. Heal well my friend!
The great thing about leaving some loose ends and some things open, is that a song can mean a thousand things to a thousand people. As soon as you pin an explanation to it, suddenly there are 999 things that it can no longer mean. Some songs need to be owned by the listener, especially something as intense as this. She is always surprised when she gets a reaction from the audience, I think she really felt the love this time.
That's why you often see a broad grin on her face while playing - _none_ of them can still believe the response they are getting, even after several years of performing. They are truly amazed at the reaction they get when they play, deep down. It must still feel like some sort of insane dream.
No matter how many times I've seen this performance, it always brings tears to my eyes...
And I know that will always happen.

When I first heard this song, I just assumed that it was about somebody she knew who drowned. And at 13 being able to write like a song like this from the perspective of the other person was just amazing. Even now that I know that's not what it was about, it still strikes me as so mature for someone so young. She may never want to tell us what it was about, but I am so thankful that she had the courage to play it live. Her emotions and tears were real, but so was the love and support expressed foe her by the audience.
