    I’ve enjoyed all of your films, but the dinghy sailing is so realistic and exciting that I find myself hiking with you at times, even though I’m sitting on the couch. Thanks.

    Many happy memories of sailing our old N12 around Bough Beech. We bought her for exactly the same reasons you did....gosh.....twenty years ago now!!!

      Are you still at the club, what do you sail now?

      @@SailingwiththeFoxwellFamily I sail at Eastbourne now, but I did the Icicle last season and intend to again this year. I sail the black Contender - we've crossed tacks a few times :)

    Hi Ian, the nostalgia of a 12 never leaves you. I used to sail my first boat, a N12 the Nottingham Sailing Club back in the day (80s and 90s), and your old Baggy Trousers 12 was at the club at the time. She recently came up for sale again and my nephew, who still lives in the area is kicking himself for not buying her.
    I’ve never been any good at racing myself, but Love the videos. 👍😊

      It was Bicycle Clips coming up for sail that got us looking again, and then after a good summer of sailing with Izzy in the Wayfarer it did seem like the right time to get another

    Fantastic video, I have a design 8, Magic Dragon, I sail her single handed and sometimes without the jib, weird I know. Love your videos, I know a guy who may still have a mast, I also have a fixed carbon rudder, drop me a message and I can give you Chris’s details for the mast. Keep the videos coming 👍

    I have been looking at N12's for the very same reason, hoping to get my daughter crewing next year. There has also been a big increase of them at our Club, Whitefriars in the Cotswolds

    Lovely to see a 12. I used to crew for someone when I was about 14 to 16 (1970 -73) at West Riding Sailing Club. My helm built the boat himself, a Whisper, 4 planker, No 2633 Creme de Menthe. Great to see they keep drawing you back and I hope that your daughter takes to it. Thanks for the vid.

    I believe the Americas Cup got lost somewhere along the road.

      boat design has moved on a lot over the years hasn't it. Have you been watching the racing in the current AC though Eric, its very impressive

      @@SailingwiththeFoxwellFamily I think that all I enjoy about one design tactical racing is combined in the LV racing, just a much faster pace but I am, apparently stuck in the past.

    That's an... unusual name! And why is there a license plate on the transom? :D

    • @SailingwiththeFoxwellFamily
      @SailingwiththeFoxwellFamily  4 месяца назад +1

      The licence plate is because the transom flaps were broken when we got it and that was the most suitable piece of material that we had lying around. Apart from cutting in half and drilling two holes it fitted perfectly

    How do they sail with two people around 75-80kg? Im thinking of downsizing from my RS400 so i can sail with my daughter when im not sailing with my regular crew. We are only on a small inland lake so the 400 doesnt get chance to get going before we are tacking again.

      Hi Dave. It depends a lot on the design, the class forums would be the best place to chat but from experience, the average design works best with an all up weight of around 120kg. That said Hannah and I are around 145kg at the mo and we are fine in this boat.
