This video is the absolute benchmark of acoustic dnb drumming in terms of creativity, flow, and good taste. Best of the sort on RUclips, prove me wrong
@@agamaz5650 I prefer this over Jojo's playing. This is along the lines of Louis Cole's "Louis Cole Plays Some Drum N' Bass" video, which is another acoustic dnb drumming benchmark.

Hell yeah! First time I saw KJ play was at a loft party in 2002 with Skerik and Reggie Watts. They played for over 4 hours straight drum n bass jazz improv. Amazing.
This is only the beginning of what this guy does on stage. I saw AriSawkadoria a few years back in Seattle and he was playing amazing accoustic drums along with electric pads to provide ambient sounds over top followed by hitting keys on his Apple MacBook pro to give a 3rd layerof sound. Talk about talented and a big time multi-tasker.
What I just LOVE about this is that Jungle beats were the result of splicing live recorded drums from other genres (mostly blues and funk, if I recall correctly) and for a long time were thought to be impossible to emulate live due to their complexity. Then guys like KJ Sawka came along and made live drummers (MY FUCKING SELF INCLUDED) envious and upset because SERIOUSLY, KJ, DID YOU SIGN A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL?

@vvaallaabbaallaa Drums are 50% of DnB at least :) I saw Pendulum a few weeks back, awesome. But KJ does about 300% more in the clip above than at the gig, so I see where the comments come from. That said, he's not exclusive to Pendulum remember, he's a solo artist also, fair play to be this awesome at solo and still tour with a successful band.
When I started out as a DJ mixing Trance, House and Breaks... I never thought in a million years I'd ever develop at taste for DnB. I was so fooking wrong! LOL
man ive had an awesome evening looping this into my line six delay pedal and puting keys on to of it. i can really take any loop from any part of this and have tons of fun with it. i will certainly be spreading youre gospel far and wide. thanks for posting bro
Absolutely class. Real talent! This video needs to be featured in my opinion, needs some publicity! I doubt it'll be long until some idiot claims its's fake though, oh well. Thanks for posting, adding to my favourites - 5* !
Loved every beat!!! Insane Talent. Love the Amen Break. Been spinning those beats since 1998. But to play that is is a different story. MUCH RESPECT....LIGHTA!!!!!!
This is beyond master skill level achievement for acoustic Jungle style playing. I'm in awe of how dialed in his playing is considering not many others were pursuing this style of playing back then (Johnny Rabb? This is pre-Jojo's Jabon). He truly was a pioneer of adapting Jungle drumming to the acoustic kit. A virtuoso if you will.

I meant his older performances, now he isn't as good since 2014 @@studiocoorlas
I love how he introduces himself, then just cranks this out.
I couldn't agree with me more

Nice man, love the switches, and the custom set...that's all you need!
Holy fuck, he's so laid-back about it too...
i was thinking that too. it comes so naturally to him. its all muscle memory. he could probably do it blindfolded.
Dylan Clements I wouldn't doubt it
