    One thing to keep in mind is that korra knew her uncle before this; he’s her family and family is the only relationship she’s had since she was locked up down south her whole life. As outside viewers it’s easy to be like “well gee SOMEONE has to be the villain this season”, but korra has no reason not to trust her uncle; not yet anyway. It’s be like having a family reunion and seeing a cousin for the first time in a while and then them turning out to be a murderer, it’s not something you would draw a conclusion towards easily

    Bumi being a non-bender from Katara’s Dad side, has the same problem that Sokka faced trying to prove his worth being the only one that cannot bend. I really enjoy the parallels. Not to take away from Bumi he has many accomplishments

    This episode always makes me cry. I love the family dynamic aspect of it. I am the youngest of my siblings and there's a very large age gap. Lots of tough love to teach me a lesson. I totally understand the frustration been Bumi, Kaya, and Tenzin.

    The turmoil between the North and South Pole has been growing long before Aang and Korra was born. The southerners had been asking for help from the northerners when their livelihood fell, and their sistertribe didn't meet all the pleas. It was in Kyoshi's era I believe (bcs I get my memories mixed up sometimes). Korra haters love to blame her for starting the civil war when the actual moment that solidified the war between the sister tribes was when Unalaq arrived in s2 ep1. Even Eska and Desna have prejudice against the southerners. This season was hard for me mainly because the confinement they imposed on Korra was finally catching up to her, the spirits were upset, nobody knew how to appease them except Unalaq, the person who believed in her turned out to be a manipulator, and all shits about harmonic convergence.

    I'm completely on Kaya's and Bumi's side of the argument. They are definitively resentful in some ways, and that is the part where I think they're wrong; however, they right on the issue that Tenzin neglects them as well as the rest of the world does, just because they're not air-benders. As Aang's sons, all of them are Aang's legacy and responsible for it, not only Tenzin.
    Also, Korra being unlikeable, yeah at the start of this season she definitively is. Nevertheless, something note worthy here is that it does makes sense why she's lashing out, since season 1 out in Republic city people told her she was lacking as an avatar, because she didn't travel the world, but she was sheltered instead. That was a decision she didn't make, and she was told Aang made that order, which made her accept the fact out of respect for her past life. Now, she learns that it was both her dad and Tenzin whom made that decision, and she feels a bit betrayed by the lie, and most importantly because she feels "keeping her safe" wasn't worth it, knowing she lacks something other Avatars didn't because of that.
    Slight SPOILER Warning
    Tenzin and Korra's father haven't explained why did they kept her isolated. They just say it was to keep her safe, but safe from what? Or who? Questions to think about.

      Almost every comment in reactions I watch on this always states that Aang, not being a good dad is normal since he was raised by monks, and also they love it because it makes him human. But I haven't read any comment sympathizing with Kya and Bumi. I don't think people realize how painful it is for a child to know that his/her parents have favorites.

    Your frustration with Korra is valid but in my opinion the reason for her character's devolution is because the thing you mentioned few times: the show was only supposed to be one season but t was suddenly greenlit for the second one so they had to rush things. Anw, you'll love the other two-part episodes just like even season 2 haters do. Season 3 is the best, as it continues back from something in this season and before starting that season, I want you guys to remember in season 1 it was mentioned that Aang himself personally ordered the White Lotus to protect (or 'seclude') Korra

    Aang's kids have it rough one way or another. Bumi as a firstborn most likely felt the frustration from his parents because he's a nonbender, then there was Kya holding Katara up when Aang died and taking the responsibility as a second mother to Bumi maybe? Since Aang put all hopes and pressure on the aibender.. Them being canonically bad parents is pretty realistic, ngl. I understand all point of views.
    I have biologically one sibling and the other is on the way and it's kinda tough seeing your parent paying more attention to the younglings and ignoring your needs and issues.. and actually building a bond with the younger kids of theirs.. Since there is no real bond I don't mind seeing my father go but man it's harsh looking back at it.. I feel the nonbender aspect of Bumi's. The younger sibling just looks more promising..

    if water benders can make water cold so cold it turns into ice n so hot it turns into steam.... y did JET from avatar think Unlce IROH was a Fire Bender right away? bc he heated his tea up?
    like i said fire benders arent the only only ones who can heat up water. n he should know this since Katara froze water n froze him to a tree. i would think he had common sense to b like if she can make it cold she can make it hot also.

    SPOILERS AHEAD
    .
    .
    .
    .
    How will the tribes be together "again" with the portals open, if the portals were closed in the last harmonic convergence which was ten thousand years ago, when people lived on top of the lion turtles? I mean, there weren't a southern tribe and a northern one around the portals for that statement to make sense.
    .

    • @androkguz
      @androkguz Год назад

      It's implied, but not really clear. The way I imagine it works is that the water tribe of the water Lion Turtle lived close to the portals, traveling up and down and having settlers outside the turtle itself in the material world. We know the fire people used the fire to defend themselves from spirits and never left the turtle except to hunt. The air people used air to live with the spirits and *did* leave the Lion turtle. It follows that the water and earth people could have different customs. I figure the water people didn't all live atop the lion turtle but instead lived around the lion turtle's path too (which i think was around the spirit portals, thus in the north and south pole of the material world).
      Then convergence happened and the bridge is closed. The humans still atop the LT have to get down and live in the material world (choosing a pole) and the LT goes back to... wherever.
      And then the two tribes already know that they can find each other through the material world by sailing from one pole to another. Which is a lot... But not so much when you have waterbenders. Thus... They see each other are sibling tribes

    • @gntyh
      @gntyh Год назад

      So in ten thousand years of history you dont think one country of waterbenders could have ever split?
      There was one tribe of waterbenders and then some just moved to the south pole, it aint fuckin rocket science. They’re “together again” because they dont have to be on seperate ends of the earth anymore
      Nothing in that statement implies that she was talking about ten thousand years in the past, not that she would even know at this point

    • @naijagerd7909

    • @hazok4351
      @hazok4351 Год назад +1

      @@naijagerd7909 yeah, I guess he was lying. But it would be pretty cool if they had had this feature at some point, right? Like, a world apart, but connected. It's just weird that Korra doesn't know the history of her tribe enough to question him, like, she's the Avatar and the avatar is supposedly taught history, economy, and stuff (at least should, like in the novels)

    • @danielmunoz1275
      @danielmunoz1275 Год назад

      I don't think Unalaq meant that they were united before because of the portals. Initially I'd imagine by the way the Tribes have been portrayed throughout Avatar media that at first there was only the Northern Tribe. The tribe had customs and traditions like every culture does, and at some point many groups of people within the Tribe started to think differently on many subjects, eventually leaving the Tribe and these groups of people migrated to the South Pole to start their own Tribe with beliefs and traditions that went against those in the North.
      So, that was speculation, but overall I think Unalaq ist just saying things to keep Korra on his side. The Southern Tribe has always been the opposite of the Northern. As an example, Katara's grandmother left the Tribe, because she didn't like the strict customs they had there, and Katara made a stand against Paku, precisely because one of their customs was that women couldn't fight nor learn water-bending for that either.
      It is interesting. The Northern and Southern Tribes ARE just like brothers, brothers that are always at odds, but help each other sometimes. In around 100 years the Northern Tribe didn't came to help their brother Tribe, even though the Fire Nation was raiding them constantly, yeah maybe the Fire Nation made blockades or the simpler answer, it was a LOOONG journey, after all it is the other side of the world; however, I repeat it was around 100 years, and the Northern Tribe stood idle, until Aang, Sokka, and Katara arrived for them to send some kind of help to the Southern Tribes.
      In conclusion Unalaq was just lying to get Korra to do as he pleases.
