I use Blue October as a musical therapist, no other music, lyrics, violin, or voice can touch my soul and mind as Blue's can. It is so nice to see that this is not just a job for these men, this is their therapy as well. Yet they are humble and helping, what they are doing to promote awareness for suicide prevention and depression should be celebrated and honored.

Blue October is an amazing band and Justin in an amazing person. I love that he said that the band, for him wasn't about being rock stars, but his outlet for his emotions...

I love the way he chooses to relate to people. Their interviews are unlike anyone elses. I appreciate how they "speak up" for everyone out there who can't or is too afraid to do so themselves.

I always cry at the concerts. I get angry, happy, sad, giddy, I feel everything. I'm a sponge when he talks, I just want the words so bad

This interview caused me a choke up pretty bad. Mostly for selfish reasons, such as remembering my own depression and the times their music soothed me. But when Justin's brother started to cry, I felt such an empathetic rush of emotions that sent me into tears. It's so good that they are speaking out for all of us who can't find words for what we are/were going through-- be it the person suffering from depression, or the person watching someone else struggle through it.

these kind of interviews leave me speechless, choked up yet comforted. They are speaking out about something that so so many people can relate too but may not have found their voice yet to speak up and are screaming in silence for someone, anyone to hear them and understand. Major props to them (entire band) for standing true to themselves, for being so honest and not fake with their fans...for being an inspiration and a light in the darkness for many.
~never let the darkness blind you~

The worst part of it is when all your family and friends think your choosing to be that way. They think you can just snap out of it, and that you simply need to do this or that to fix it. They wonder why I never call or leave the house....Oh wait that's just because I am selfish and just don't care about them.

Very cool. I like being able to hear them talk about their lives.. how they've dealt and how, especially Justin, tries his best to reach out to others. These videos make me feel all the more closer to these guys :)

I actually started crying during this half of the interview, even in this computer lab with people around. Having biological depression and GAD, it's so amazing to hear someone put words to all these feelings and scary things. That Justin can do this not only in song, but in interview is just...wow. I'm a dancer and choreographer, always using those as my emotional release, but I hope I can be like Justin and Blue October and reach out to others.

I love this interview. Especially the part where he talks about people not inviting someone to their party because they may be different from everyone else. People are so quick to judge. they just don't understand. The interview is very real, open and emotional.

Very important video. I'm glad to see Justin and Jeremy able to explain where they are coming from. We all have problems if we're honest with ourselves. I love the honesty, openness and directness of the emotions, lyrics and genuine love from the entire band. I love that BO attracts men, women, children, of all ages and backgrounds. Very few bands can claim such success. You're not alien to those with open spirits. Thanks for the show in Rochester, NY and the chance to meet you.

Having had that rare 'You-Are-Not-Alone' hug", personally from this beautiful man, I could never imagine in my wildest dreams I could feel that "accepted", let alone by such an amazing artist - what genuine heart these 2 men have. I could spend the rest of my life thanking Justin, Jer, & Blue October 4 the times they have helped, & still help me, just make it thru another day.
TALK ABOUT MENTAL ILLNESS - IT AIN'T GOIN AWAY! But... Someone u love might go away if u don't. Oh God, it happens.

I have bipolar too, the worst kind. Bipolar type 1 with severe mania and big time lows, I was diagnosed on 2000 its now January 2015. My wife and I are about to celebrate our 16th anniversary February 12th. I have put my family through hell over the years, I'm medicated now and trying to make it up every day. Blue October has helped us so much with their music. We go to every concert near us every time they come around, they are by far the best band I've ever seen in person. Thank You Justin for talking about bipolar, my own family won't take the time to learn what it is. So fuck em' my wife knows all about bipolar, that's all I need, and I love her for it and putting up with my shit. I'm forever a blue October fan, nothing will ever change that.

I'm his wife and he passed away on August 24th...our daughter's 16th birthday. He died in his sleep. That's a blessing I suppose. Blue Sunshine was played on his memorial video. He loved that song. I am lost without him. I scream at his picture and only hear silence in return. He was only.37. We were supposed to grow old together. We had a great ride and for that I am thankful. It just wasn't long enough.

I choke up every time I watch this interview, both parts. I would love for that one moment, where someone would hug me and tell me that they know what I'm going through and that it will all be alright. I've needed that for 7 years now and still have not gotten it.

The way Justin describes how he feels when he sees his daughter is how I feel when I see my niece, my brothers daughter. She can bring light into the darkest days with a hug, a cheeky smile or some funny comment.
Jeremy gives good advice; if you can understand the illness, you can almost understand the person. Maybe I should pass this on to my sister...
    I'm loving Justin's sound effects too :P

The movie, Mr. Jones, with Richard Gere is about being bipolar. He enjoyed the highs so much that he refused medication. His highs were fun and exciting but his lows were very deep and dark. It's an older movie that helps understand the disease. Many brillant people were or are bipolar and have accomplished great things.

@Dissonant1975 wow, reviews actually are read. Thank you for that, and for just taking the time to reach out and reply. It helps renew - or should I say, for the first time in my life, begin to show me that there are still people in this world who care and will do something about it. Whoever you are, you have a great heart - please stay that way. Keep reaching out - it does help. U r loved too!

Exactly right about treating the person and not just the illness. Some many persons diagnosed with mental illness are just assembly line treated. You have X, take Y...You have Z take A. Understanding that there is a person behind the illness is whats hard for people, even the people who are the ones treating the person. Everyone has motivations in their personalities whether it be painting or artist or caring for people and on and on. I
