    3:39 This thing "controls all 4 wheels" allowing it to remain stable on up to 20 degree slopes.
    NO, unfortunately that is wrong. That would be incredible, but no. All "e-steer" technology means at this point is that it uses a steering wheel instead of lap bars - a step backwards in my opinion. The front caster wheels are not controlled any differently than the current EGO zero turn. This is disappointing. Hopefully someone at this expo can get an answer from EGO on why they misinformed everyone who had this press release with bad information.

    • @ToolShow
      @ToolShow  Год назад +1

      You’re absolutely right, Scott. EGO reached out to us as soon as they could to correct the issue, but our video had already been published. They attributed the issue to a internal communications error, and they have since fixed it. And I agree, all wheel steer would’ve been pretty Flippin cool.

      @@ToolShow oh, that explains it that’s definitely an unfortunate mistake and I appreciate you clearing it up because they got a lot of false optimism from that statement and it was repeated by dozens of influencer channels

      @@eighties8 for what it’s worth, we finally got to ride the new mower today, and that steering wheel is absolutely insane. You can make very very fast turns super tight. and it’s super intuitive. Everyone who jumped on immediately figured it out.

    • @eighties8
      @eighties8 Год назад +1

      @@ToolShow Cool. I can see the appeal for home owners coming from riding mowers, but anyone who has experience with lap bars on a zero turn will likely stay away. Lap bar control is unmatched once you get it down. Having a 4 wheel steerable lap bar zero turn would be game changing. Add a couple high torque DC motors to the front caster spindles, wire them into the main lapbar steering circuit and rule the industry, lol.

    As a "little old lady", senior who does my own yard work and with a new home, I went through several other brands that used to be known for quality, reliablity but returned every item due to lack of power and would literally die after several uses.. So I tried my first EGO product - a weed eater and do like it except it doesn't self advance like I expected but do love the power and battery charge and power. Much better product than other other brands. Just ordered the multi-head and an edger. I sure hope the quality remains and a variety of product continues to be introduced and using the same battery. Other brands got bought out and got destroyed in quality and reliability. Consumers need a reliable brand with consistent quality.

    I'm a Greenworks guy, but hats off to Ego for these genuine improvements:
    1. An inverter that's pure sine wave 400 watts, not modified sine wave 300 watts like every other OPE's. This will add tremendous value to their batteries, letting them power sensitive electronics during a blackout or when roughing it. Speaking of batteries...
    2. A 6 amp-hour battery, yielding 20 percent more capacity without resorting to the larger, heavier, costlier 7.5AH model. Greenworks and Toro offer 6AH but not with Bluetooth connectivity.
    3. A telescoping pole saw. The only name-brand telescopers I know of are Skil 40V (which I own and love), Husqvarna (the best), and Stihl. It's far more convenient than inserting---and removing---an extender.
    4. A 21-inch mower with paddle levers and a thumbwheel wheel-speed control, like Greenworks Gen. 2.

    I just bought the Ego Z6 with the steering wheel back in spring and let me tell you I love it!
    I went with this particular model because I had a major rotator cuff surgery and I can drive this mower 1 handed no problem. Even where my yard slopes it has no problems.
    The lower center of gravity makes you feel very secure.
    Yes it’s pricey but like many others have said, let’s see if it holds up for the long run.
    For those of us who are old enough to remember, when battery handtools first came out, people were skeptical. And now look, most people use battery powered hand tools.

    Looking forward to EGO's appearance this weekend at the Equip Expo. The 4 wheel steering zero turn technology is definitely the most appealing of all the new tech - but for that steering wheel. Hopefully they build the same tech into the lap bar model. The steering wheel itself looks cool, but the overall look is just goofy. Lap bars take a bit of practice to get used to but once you get it down, you don't want to go back to a steering wheel and foot pedals.

    I'm well into the Ego platform (mower, string trimmer, blade edger, hedge trimmer, blower).
    I find these new releases completely disappointing. None of these are a new category for Ego. Where are the sprayer, dethatcher, tiller, post hole digger, powered wheelbarrow, power washer and (most of all) reel mower????
    Everything they've announced is an addition to tool categories they already have. And all of it extends the top end of the lineups, in performance and PRICE. At some point, they're going to price themselves out of the bulk of the market.
    Don't get me wrong, I think it's all cool stuff. But if I already have an Ego mower, string trimmer and blower (or if I bought an Ego ZT), I'm not likely to just replace them each year to get the "latest and greatest".

    • @BronzeLincolns81
      @BronzeLincolns81 Год назад

      Could be they want to stay in the lawn and garden segment and not over extend themselves. They have been coming out with new stuff within that segment such as the new snow shovel. It is true people aren't gonna be buy a new mower every year or two years but It could be tempting depending on how they improve things and if you have the batterie packs already you'll save a ton of money buying bare tool.
