Delivered a nice even cut, has the super tight turning ability ruclips.net/user/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend I was looking for, and is just a blast to drive. It takes a little bit to get used to driving one after driving a normal tractor style, but once you've got it, you've got it. If you're cutting lines, you have to be careful spinning the mower around or the back tire will dig a bare spot. Just take it nice and slow during the turn and then it's back to full throttle across the yard!
That strimmer loading and releasing as you need it has blown my mind, the amount of time that would save me! I've got ego now (gardener) but need this!
@@PatHiggins-Mayo It’s exactly the same as the other Z6 which has been out nearly 2 years. The field I was on was very bumpy. No noisier than the other one. It just sounds worse than it is haha. But agree, it need to be quieter.
@@PatHiggins-Mayo it rattles just like the Z6! You would think they would fix this. My Ryobi 80volt doesn't rattle like this. Main reason I returned my Z6 that and the horrible bluetooth pairing to update firmware.
We’ve been running the 52” all summer, and it’s FANTASTIC. That new steering wheel though… 🔥! Not ENTIRELY sure that it’s a good idea to give you a mini chainsaw with THAT much reach. :) Great overview guys!
I have the first z6 mower. I wish the blade speed controls were easier to control while mowing. I love the idea of the newer model where everything is accessible on the steering wheel
The most underrated thing about the string trimmers is the flat, comfortable place they provide for the forehand of the trigger hand to rest on top of the motor. They don't even advertise this feature.
That new power head and pole saw attachment has sold me on ego for OPE. The extreme reach is way beyond Milwaukee or others. Now I can justify buying that snowblower I've been eyeing.
The green light is cool on the pole saw... until the limb you can't see falls from tree onto you noggin. 🤣 Nice tools and mowers gang, thanks for the video. (More Norman)
Awesome review James. For the Z6, was hoping they would do something about traction control like Greenworks is doing with their new hub wheel motor zero turns. The rear wheel electric hub motors allow them to handle 25 degree slopes due to "adaptive traction control".
My EGO self propelled walk behind could honestly use far more cutting suction and discharge force, other owners have mentioned this. Unless I'm just cutting absolute tips, I do get clumps even in ultra-dry grass, this requires a second pass, my blade is razor sharp .. I've tried different heights, different mowing conditions .. nothing helps. I also have the EGO string trimmer and three batteries. I will likely go back to gas power later this summer and keep the EGO for perimeter trimming.
How does the steering wheel model handle on an incline? Was really hoping the front wheels could be used to steer. Well, I guess it’s back to the Cub Cadet zero turn with steering wheel
Yes all well and good, we have an Ego strimmer but here in Britain we can't get a grease tube to grease the head. ( Screw in the tube ) Any other brand no problem. Phoned Ego UK they didn't seem to care.
Are the batteries for the ride on lawnmower interchangeable also do the batteries for ego come with the products or do you have to buy those separately?
I currently have a John Deere ride on mower and am looking to go to the EGO. I have EGO blower, chainsaw, line trimmer, hedge trimmer etc. However, my JB ride-on also allows me to tow a cart. So it really becomes a small utility "tractor" for the property. Can the EGO mower do this please?
I have the z6 52 in the UK been waiting for it and its been fantastic. My only issue is my grass doesn't grow fast enough and with the ground being soft its really easy to tear up the lawn with the rear wheels if you turn sharp. Got the 765 blower too and have been blowing gravel about. Ordering the multi tool this week too with the hedge trimmer and rotocut. I wanted to replace my petrol push mower too but the UK range of push mowers seems years behind what they offer in the USA. Any idea when the 2023 push mower with new speed IQ will be hitting the UK?
Since the new Z6 zero turn has same issues with slopes as the old models, love to see you put your engineering skills to work and maybe hack up a caster wheel lock mechanism to allow on-demand control of the front caster wheels to lock them into the straight ahead position when mowing across slopes. Maybe a foot pedal controls a cable attached to a lever/lock mechanism that engages to hold/lock the front wheel caster forks in forward position while the foot pedal is engaged. Release the pedal and the caster turns freely again. You can do it James!
Does the 2023 lineup include a new push mower? I thought they were coming out with a new top of the line select cut mower. Also, will my current power head work with the new strimmer attachment or will I need the new power head?
I've got the regular 42" ego...it rides fast & cuts well. I recommend the bigger 52" deck for a acre or more. Maybe I got a bad batch of batteries from floor model, but 4 that comes with 42" isn't enough, sure I could finish roughly an acre of all kinds of terrain & extra turns due to irregular land layout (triangles & even zero turn can't cut much faster). But batteries being drained to 15-25% on 4 in such short time was concerning to me. So I bought 2 of the 12ah to add, but at $900 extra I would of been better to get 52" with 6 12ah vs 4 10ah batteries in my 42". Performance is great, I have buckeyes & some apples that drop, branches, tall grass...none of it is a problem at all. Best part is having full 7mph mowing speed without running wide open throttle like a gas mower. My biggest issue with 42" on my acre of land is I feel like I'm on a time limit to mow fast, it is like watching your battery drain on your phone...you know as you get lower but can't recharge it you watch it more. The 2nd complaint is the inability/difficulty to mow slopes, so much torque & no front steering is a problem. I didn't expect so much difficulty compared to regular steering as there are so few mowers with regular steering being made. 3rd issue is minor... The power display in sunlight can fog up & appear ruined. I literally got off the mower & picked up some branches in the yard. And filled a couple bad spots in the yard with a couple bags of dirt I had in the area. Couldn't of been more than 5-10 minutes. There are others that mention the screen issue as well.
I also bought the 42" Ego Z6, and I have had the same experience. I am planning on doing exactly as you did, which is to purchase a pair of 12ah batteries. Right now, the cutting season is winding down, so I'll save my money and buy them this winter. I like the machine otherwise, and I'm glad that I bought it. However, your point about buying the larger model makes sense. I am disappointed that I spend more time recharging than cutting.
@@nathandingman6846 Mine I tried low, 4 batteries insufficient in my case. As I mentioned I may have bad batteries, they appeared weathered, I suspect it is a floor model.
