Sooo... I have a Pocket 3 and my initial intention was not to use it for golf, but I have been. I have filmed around 10 rounds or so now and I have found that as great as it is for maybe shooting individually, it isn't so great and continuous. The gimble does not like micro stutters from pushing cart over small bumps etc, it really lacks range without losing quality, so unless you have the time to quickly clip it to a tripod then set that on the green, it's left on the cart far away from puts. I have solved the battery issue with and external batter pack, which I can record as long as I have room on my memory card, so it can record a full 18 holes. However, now in the summer months, I find that it has a significant overheating problem. I am pretty sure DJI new this, which is why they released in in the colder months.
Good to know and appreciate the time you took to share your experience! I will pin your comment to let others know who are interested in the Pocket 3 for golf purposes 🤙
I think you stand to gain maybe a little bit better image quality? But outside of that you have the same audio so it may be a wash unless you like the usability of thr camera itself. Battery is better probably too and then you can free up your phone so that is a plus! Biggest con though is that the screen is miniscule compared to your phone screen so it'll be something to get used to.
Good advice! I started with a Gopro for when I play by myself. Then recently got a 4K camera for when I play with people and they can zoom in on shots so the quality of the video doesn't go down (like you mentioned happens when you do that with the Pocket 3). Also got a drone (when I'm playing with friends) to get some cool shots either behind the tee box or on the green or even some hole flyovers!
Like a camcorder? If you have someone filming for you a camcorder is a good option because of the zoom capabilities! The angle may not be wide enough to use a camcorder solo and you may need to setup a tripod pretty far back behind your ball.
I can only speak for my own push cart, but given that the camera is similar in size to an umbrella handle, I don't see why other cart umbrella holders would not work. Your mileage may vary!
So have you tried the auto tracking on it? And if so, does the swing affect the camera, does it move when you swing or does it remain still and only move when you walk?
Awesome. I am planning on starting a youtube channel and have been experimenting with the osmo pocket 3. I find it awesome. Was going to try to use a sony zv-1, but i don't think it compares to the ease of use. I purchased final cut pro and shot tracer pro. Where do you keep your footage? On external ssd? And what is the fastest way to transfer onto mac? I actually have a ton of questions, is there a way to dm?
Best place to DM is on IG. Zv1 is a decent option but I think it's prone to overheating in 4k. I keep my footage on an external fast SSD and edit off of that 🤙
great video, any chance you have or will make a video on the basics of using the shot tracer pro app? I just got it on Mac and am trying to figure it out
GREAT video!! Super informative - thank you so much! And I agree about the Osmo Pocket 3 !! I use it exclusively for the videos on my channel - as you can see (assuming you go look) the quality is tremendous and works out great. I'm especially happy to see your tripod recommendation, going to your affiliate link now!
Pretty much you'll just have to buy a generic iphone tripod mount and you're set if the one you buy doesn't come with one. Not sure if this comes with one or not but shouldn't be too much more to get a phone tripod mount.
When I have it on a tripod I'm using a golf cart. I just park off to the right of my golfball and setup the tripod/DJI a little behind my ball and start recording ezpz.
Loved the info! I actually bought the joby mount and the monopod that you use for your current setup! I have a little confusion with it though and I was hoping you could help me figure out, how the heck do you connect the joby mount to the monopod, the threading looks to be different sizes and the hardware needed was not included so I'm curious on what you have done to get the two to connect?
Hey there! If the thread on the monopod is bigger than the joby mount, there should be a little screw adapter inside the joby screw hole that you can take out with a flat head screw driver. Also depending on how the monopod comes shipped you may have to change it around where the end with the larger circumference is at the bottom like mine and use a combination of the 3/8" to 1/4" adapter screw.
Great video! Two questions: do you have to get the courses' permission to film onsite and do you have to get the people you play with to sign anything acknowledging they will be on camera?
Hey there! Nope I do not get there courses permission the logic being if I play with pace and don't take away from any one else's experience there isn't a need. In terms of filming with people I don't know in my group I just ask them if they are ok with it and everyone I have played with has been cool about it. Although I do mostly hedge by playing with people I know. Good luck!
so then this would be perfect for me because I want to film the fairways on disc golf courses near my house so I can e-mail a copy of the video footage to friends + others...I can just walk down the fairway and not have to use a drone

Great vid! I have a Pocket 3 and still haven't used it. Have to give it a try based on your recommendation!

SHEEESH got the drone shots nice!
@@GolfParfection it’s fun and a but a bit of a hassle, but totally worth it!
I'll be up in the air for the next 12 hours or so but will get back to your questions (if there are any) about gear when I land!
Thanks for the suggestions! I'm still using a GoPro Hero 10 Black because I can do 4K60 with it. FCPX and obviously like you said, Shot Tracer Pro.
GoPros are solid cameras and have super good stabilization 🤙
Love this video, what are your thoughts on using an actual video camera not mirrorless or DSLR camera for shooting golf vlogs for RUclips?

Does the camera fit in all the umbrella holders for the push carts you’ve used?

I don’t use the auto tracking feature on it. Doesn’t quite fit what I want to achieve for my own vlogs 👍
greetings from Chile! How do you add the tracking effect on your videos? thanksssss
great video and info, bruh! keep it up!
Thanks!
@@GolfParfection Hey Matt... let me know if you are ever playing near Tilden Park Golf Course in Berkeley. Love the channel!

Can an iPhone be mounted on that tripod? Looking for a good iPhone tripod and this one looks perfect

@@GolfParfection awesome thanks. And where do you put that microphone? On the tripod ?
I just clip it ony golf polo. It's pretty hassle free!
This was incredibly helpful looking for something subtle on the course. How do you use it on a tripod?
When I have it on a tripod I'm using a golf cart. I just park off to the right of my golfball and setup the tripod/DJI a little behind my ball and start recording ezpz.
@@GolfParfection that is very seemless. Nice
I just wandering that you may need a video editor the lift the weight off your shoulder
Not looking for an editor at the moment thanks!

Shot tracer pro app on mac 🤙
@@GolfParfection nice. And how do you do the scoreboard overlays?
Great Video! May change to that tripod/weight combo
Works really well for me! Tripods I find are too much to fiddle with before the shot. Good luck!
Just curious, how long does your edit usually take for a course vlog?
Probably an entire days worth of time sitting in front of the computer end to end haha. But I usually break it up in chunks throughout the week.
