Good to see that Xb's reaction to Gem showing up at his House unannounced was just: "Before you can leave, you must first answer my riddles three"
And then fishy duo bonding

First visit: “I want the farming update.”
Second visit: *farming update* “It’s a dream come truuue!”
Some times we forgot that she is a cottage core type of person.
Third visit: Helping Cleo with her farming villagers.
lol she did get the cherry blossoms after building the tree
I would love to have Pam's Harvestcraft, in full, in vanilla Minecraft.
@@DSoSJohnHyeah I’d like to see mojang do like they did with 1.6 and work alongeside the mod creator (1.6, the horse update, was done with assistance by the creator of the Mo’ Creatures mod)
I think the “overgrown, mossy” skull is actually creepier than just the darker one. The idea of such a big feature or memorial, presumably man made, being forgotten so long it’s reclaimed by the earth again feels darker and more poetic to me.
exactly what I was thinking too!
Also, if it blends into the landscape, I think you get a moment of realization of "oh, that's a skull" that adds to the creepiness.
That’s what I was thinking! It would be perfect for her base.
I Agree.
the comedic timing of "everything is so purposefully placed, there's not a single block that is out of place" and then immediately going up the attic 😭😭😭
Lol i thought that too 😂
I love the fact that basically every hermit cites Etho as one of their inspirations. He really is the uncle of the server
TFC is the grandpa
Etho is your favorite youtubers favorite youtuber.
@@IzapcThundermay he rest in power ;-;
@@drefk1973True 😂
Etho is everyone's Funkle
I love how Beef sounds like an evasperated gruff farmer dealing with the neighbours kids iskall and stress breaking the peace. But Beef's interior work is seriously underrated, it just so clean and well decorated and i feel like i can realistically live inside his interiors.
I'm regularly surprised just how good beef's builds are, probably because i just don't normally build "realistic" houses and he doesn't go for "megabases".
Beef has long been considered the king of interiors. He is very, very good at them.
"Here's a room I built for Iskall."
"It didn't seem to help."
*deep sigh* "...I know."
right lol with every corner there was something new that he was like dont look at that it dont belong 😂
Have you seen the interior he made for Iskal's pink house? Truly a genius of interiors. (I'm kidding of course, he's obviously great)
It’s always entertaining looking at people’s builds, especially when they are right next to each other. It’s hilarious when one neighbor says “Oh, my base is cyberpunk dystopian future themed with industrial elements” and the other neighbor says “It a nice farm” and both of them are equally impressive.
I honestly think this season might be my favorite so far. There is so much more...unity almost? With the amount of spontaneous visits and closeness of everyone, plus the addition to trying to promote boating and horse based travel.
i completely agree!! Its so nice watching a higher amount of hermits interacting outside of the usual friend circles :)
@@elisenp6126 EXACTLY and some of the interactions especially for like new hermits like Skizz it feels like they've just been part of Hermitcraft all along.
I like the idea of the skull blending with the terrain, like it was carved long ago and slowly reclaimed and is now a mysterious landmark
YES!!!! EXACTLY!!!
Oftentimes, unnatural structures blending in as if natural, to the point of making you question if perhaps it WAS natural, can not only look cool but also add an air of mystery. Making it blend heavily into the terrain as if it were always part of the mountain bring in questions of its age and origin. And often, large structures draw the eye just by their size, so making them stand out further can ruin it. If something this large gets missed for a few moments before being noticed, then becomes hard to miss after knowing it's there, it has a particularly strong "WOW" effect.
Yes I agree
GEM GEM gem! please make a horn of keralis saying "this is a robbery"! You can find it in stressmonster's episode 7, 13:27. For anyone who wants to check it out as well!

I have a perfect idea for the skull: like Joel added the eyeballs Jim could do that but with like a little blood thing as if the eyeballs falling out
I think making the skull blend in will add to the overall subtle creepiness to your base. Making it darker and stand out too much may force it in your face, and rn I like the fact that everything in your base is just subtly creepy, keeping you on your toes as you walk by. Having this big pretty mountainous terrain also be in the shape of a skull would add to that effect.
Edit: adding glow licen to the inside of the skull eyes I think would add just enough light to make it pop, without making it feel out of place. If not maybe some frog lights.
I do love the mischief of Gem trying to sneakily fish on Cleo's property, only for her to end up helping as a rubber duck for Cleo's redstone.

Gem: What do you mean I’m obsessed with Etho? Have you met you?!
Joel: WHAT DO YOU MEAN- Yeah, okay…
I saw this first on Joel’s channel but it’s still so funny to me. 😭
SAME! It was hilarious for him to admit it! 😂😂😂
Funny thing is that Etho built those I believe
same tho 😭
Here’s an idea! Wouldn’t it make more sense to have the water stream on the skull to have the darker blocks like it’s actually wet? Just switch the mossy cobblestone texture with darker blocks that would make it look like a waterfall and the surrounding stone is wet. The skull looks great and I can’t wait to see the finished result!
this guy cooked
ooo this is a great suggestion -- being darker it could also look a little spookier! :D
@@chloeparis8201 YES
ooo this!!
Yes!! I was thinking this!
I think the cutest thing ever was gem and Xb talking about who their inspiration was… Etho BDubs and doc are literally my hero’s 😭 it’s so cute that Xb and gem grew up watching the people who are now on the same server 😭
I like how you took the Iskall approach to visiting friends
Even better is the difference in response:
Everyone on seeing Gem: Welcome, let me show you around
Everyone on seeing Iskall: What are you doing here, and please leave immediately.
At the end of the video, Gem mentioned putting a light within the Skull and I think it should be something with the blue lanterns if possible.
If Gem plans on keeping the Enchanting table somewhere within the Skull, the blue lighting could imply that the magic of the table is "leaking" through, calling all adventurers to visit the mysterious cavern.
This is really smart
@@TheGayLiberalAgenda yeah um a bit of purple like the skull is hiding the rift
sans...
@alol_x4353 my exact thought lmao
maybe with some froglights as well?
I think what would look really cool on the skull would be a little gnarly tree growing out of one of the eyes.
Also some vines hanging down next to the water.
Yea, especially if it's a cherry blossom tree that blends with the mountain's biome
I wish this had more likes and is at the very top of the comment section
This would be so cool 😍
YES. DO THAT YAS
xB’s flooring is giving animal crossing oak wood plank flooring. And I am here for it!! 🌳 he a wholesome guy
I like the idea of the skull blending in. Almost like this area was marked a long time ago and now sailors have found it again.
I love how it’s obvious that Beef and Iskall’s prank war (or I guess more accurately Iskall’s prank siege on Beef) is STILL in full swing.
Also I loved Skizz’s distracted and casual, “Yep! Drowning right now.”
Perry is Stress's but even so its amazing how obvious Iskall's prank siege is.
Perry should be visiting someone else next week, and eventually may make it all the way around the server.
@@jasonreed7522he should fish off the top of gems lighthouse or Grians cranes sometime
I love seeing Gem hanging out with hermits we don’t always see!! Grian and Scar are great, but it’s nice to see some other faces too!! I truly believe Gem, Joe, and Bdubs would make the most wholesome episode ever
Or the most murderous
@@starmotion9779_productionsOr both. Both is good.

Omg I want them and scar as a 4 man squad lol
I actually really appreciate these sort of videos from the hermits that reach out and have a little fun with the other hermits. It's making this season feel more full and lively.
For the skull color palette it's tricky because on one hand stone features in close proximity to water would naturally foster the growth of moss and the more green palette might flow better with the rest of the mountain however the darker palette might fit the spooky theme better and the color of rocks can get soooo dark when they get wet so it also makes sense
I totally agree with Gem on Minecraft needing a farming update, I'd also like to see them add something like a "wildlife update" just to fill out the world a little more, with deer, badgers, a third bear type and maybe some more birds other than just the chickens and parrots, maybe owls or seagulls or something, maybe some more fish types too.
Yes this would be great!❤😊
I'd love it if they would add a bit more variants of blocks to fill in the gaps (mossy bricks, for example).
@@IWontBuy-RP YES!!! That would be great, it would make it easier to do gradients. I'd also like to see them add "path block slabs", just because I hate seeing that thin little strip of dirt underneath when I use some sort of wood slab or whatever.
Farmers delight and Alex's mobs will fulfil both those. Be nice to see it in vanilla tho. Croptopia also adds a fair few crops
This would be awesome
It would also be great if they update the textures, animations, and models of the older mobs (particularly the animations). You can really tell that whoever animates the mobs has gotten more experience, which is awesome, but now the older mobs look slightly out of place.
As someone who only has time for 1-2 POV's per week I'm very happy that Gem is showing us around the server, it gives great perspective!
Same, I can find time to watch an extra pov or two but most of them I just leave playing in the background.
Recap
@@aaishaismail5717 The recap is great, but there is a bit of nuance that you miss, since they only really go into the broad strokes and funny moments
The trident fight club would be absolutely diabolical to have INSIDE the skull. Make like a pool inside the skull and it can go deep and then there's above water and underwater areas to trident fight
I like the holes in the back of the eyesocket, it makes it more creepily realistic :D that's where nerves would run through, skulls aren't completely solid smooth shells
"Thank you for the existential crisis, I appreciate it"
Felt that one to my core
Re: Skull
Both! You could really push the overgrown look by using the darker blocks to create shadows in the interior, water stains where the stone is wet, and even darker cracks going over the forehead. I think a pond in the eyeballs could also be a lot of fun :P
the hilarious juxtaposition of saying "everything is so purposefully placed, there's not a single block that is out of place" and then heading upstairs right away
2:40 hehe IKEA throne
8:51 I find it funny how beefs chairs look like big cartoon pieces of ham.
22:11 gem took the term cry me a river literally I love it.
26:24 it would be funny if gem built little themed pvp arenas around her base like in the little sewer tunnel under her doc there’s a trident arena and in the skull there’s a sword arena. And like atop her part of the mountain she builds an archery arena.
28:20 I find it fun how the hermits are leaning into the story telling aspects as of late. Or at least as I’ve noticed
And finally gem is like my Etho (in a sort of sense) and I can’t wait to see how her base turns out this season
The fact that Gem's base actually in a Fishpunk themed, + Grian though 😅
With Impulse, Bdubs' Cyberpunk base,
Joel's provincial version of theirs + Japanese,
Pearl's Solarpunk,
Tango's Steampunk,
it's amazing!
Is fishpunk an actual term?
@@bobosaurus331 I just made that up and fits whatever they've been doing haha
beef's is farmpunk?
Fishpunk is a term now, choom
@@joakimbjorkgren3511so true
a bit random, but when you start the underwater fight club and begin sending out invitations, they could be full of water puns! (ex: “water you doing?” “the trident club is a splash hit!” etc.) love the builds so far!
ooo good idea!!!
I imagine the overgrown natural skull would look SUPER good. While I think the dark fits the creepy theme, the mossy vibe would mix in the lagoon theme all while creating some unintentional lore of “who was the person to make the skull all those years ago or is the place just creepy like that by nature”
I think the mossy-stone palette for the skull will work best, especially with the waterfall out of the eye. The darker palette is cool, but to me it seems more like it'd be the burnt skull of some massive creature that was killed there. With the mossy look, it feels more like a natural part of the landscape that was maybe carved into it a very long time ago and then reclaimed over many centuries.
xB’s floor is genuinely really well done. i can’t believe i’ve never thought of that before
The best part is how simple it is. It looks so clean and nice but it's so easy to put together.
@@MagnorCriol ikr? might steal it for a future wall, i think that’d look sick

"It needs to be much more controlled." That's what I tell myself every time I cry.
WOW those shaders give so much, even with just the fog, completely recontextualizes the whole base! definitely feeling the spookiness
I am sooo impressed with how much of a difference the block texturing makes. That plus the closing up at the back adds so much depth! The other eye not being done yet really highlights how amazing it is :)
Loved the spotlight share with other creators from Gem in this episode. Must've had such a small time to film with the Hermit charity event, so this was a great solution!
Gem went visiting hermits IRL and in hermitcraft! :D
I absolutely love the skull, I think to add to both the creepy feel and wanting to add lights by making glowing eyes but set deep into the skull like it’s watching/ is starting to come alive.
I know I’ve said it before but I love all the interactions between hermits this season! It’s so much fun watching Gem get little tours of everyone’s base and chatting with them.
And of course, Gem’s own base is coming along amazingly! The skull looks INCREDIBLE at night and super spooky in the morning. I love how it looms in the distance, just barely visible through the fog. Proper horror game vibes from that little fishing village for sure.
I love when Gem walks you through what she's building, it really helps to know her thought process so I can try and use her techniques in my own builds.
2:56 No hesitation! Here we can see how Gem is genuinely a Bdouble0 fan. 😂 I knew her as a Bdubs girl first before she revealed she’s also an Etho girl
clearly shes always had great taste 😌
I think it could be really cool to add some smaller bone decorations throughout your little town. It would carry the mossy skull/bones theme through the rest of the build to make it more ‘seamless’ and would also add to the murky horror theme!
I definitely agree, lights in the eyes with the shaders. That skull is looking so epic!
I love love love watching Gem interact with Hermits we don't usually get to see!! Makes me wish for a war or tournament or something so everyone has an excuse to bug each other
Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I realize that some hermits don't really tend to interact with others all too often. It's exciting to see all this togetherness between the hermits this season!
You could also just watch some or even one of the people that don't all live on the same mountain if you feel like you never see other hermits...
for subtle lightin on the skull i think glo lichen and some glo berries would look nice, especially for that mossy feel
one of my favorite parts of hermitcraft is the diversity in everyone’s builds and aesthetics every season. cottagecore, futuristic, modern, etc it’s all so cool and detailed and i thoroughly enjoy seeing how the process works and watching things evolve and come into place. i love when you visit bases and see everything, especially as someone who has trouble watching everyone’s videos and staying focused
I love you doing the shading on just one eye so that we have something to compare it to easily - with some of the subtler changes, it can be harder for our untrained eyes to see, but the comparison of the untouched one right next to it makes it a lot more obvious the effects you're pulling off!
the texturing on the eye in the skull looks SO GOOD!!!, im loving the mix of interactions and building this season so much ^-^
I think blending the skull with the terrain would look great!
Good to see more hermit interactions with people in the Neighbourhood.
Glow lichen would be a great choice for illuminating the skull. The light is really subtle and blends great into the natural bits. I recently used it on a big tree and I think it's worth trying. Love your episodes!
I like the idea of the skull blending in, I feel like it fits the lore and the aesthetic of your base the best
If you give a drowned holding a trident a nautilus shell they will drop the trident to pick up the shell. It might help with getting more stock for the shop!
that’s useful
That's bedrock only according to the wiki :(
Ooh, I'll definitely be using this tip in my own worlds when trident farming
Bedrock 😅
Yeah, Bedrock players giving advice to Java players is a thing. Bedrock trident economics are weird.
On Java it's strictly an equipment drop with no way to manipulate, except via looting on the sword.
Gem, this is my favourite episode of your season 10 so far. It felt like... a warm hug from your favourite person. You've been spending so much time with your usual -suspects- cherry mountain high energy hermits and I really appreciated the tours of the chill vibes of some of my favourite hermits - notably False and Beef.
Nicely done on helping out Cleo with their backed up hoppers. I'm glad we got to see their base from your perspective!
And I'm so glad you visited xB because he's been going around asking other hermits 3 questions and you coming to him was perfect! Plus you got to get to know him a little better and I loved how you both have built angler fish. I'm glad he got to tour your base a little as well!
Now, this is my favourite episode NOT because of others, but because of your progress on the skull. I know that I need to trust the process but it's been... needing some love for some time and wow you have done so much to it in just this one episode. I also love you using your utility poles as a perch to look at your build from afar. ^_^ The texturing to create darker spots where there should be shadows is always impressive and you've nailed the eye socket. Plus the flowing water from the eye? The mossy blocks under the flowing water? UGH I LOVE IT SO MUCH.
I'm excited to hear that your plans will have the mouth of the skull be the entrance. I know a lot of this is based on Dredge but your base reminds me so much of The Secret of Monkey Island (the 1990 version for PC MS-DOS), my favourite point and click adventure game from my childhood. If you're curious and/or want some possible inspiration, search for "The Secret of Monkey Island 1990 poster" and then click on images. It'll be the first result.
Thanks for using your massive viewership to shoutout to your underviewed fellow hermits. This is exactly the kind of thing I like to see hermits do. The underviewed hermits do it all the time though obviously the massively viewed hermits need no help from them. But it's what I love about Hermitcraft and the sense of community between all of you. You don't have to be best friends and in each others' episodes all the time but some interactions here and there is lovely to see.
I’ve only watched a handful of hermit craft seasons, and the first two I watched (6-7 I think) I never actually branched out further then watching mumbo and grian. I skipped season 8 (for some reason) and only watched half of 9, but this time, I have REALLY branched out, and watch about half of our hermits, if not a little more! I’ve fallen in love with the dynamics and relationships, and I don’t think I ever realized how many of these guys are inspiration for the other hermits! Falling in love with all of it more and more every episode

I love the idea of the skull looking almost as though its a natural formation, being super overgrown and ominous. Love the base so far!
I feel like the darker palette for the skull would add to the dark/creepy vibe you’re going for. However, some leaves and moss would also make the skull blend into the mountain quite well; it’ll make the skull feel like it’s been there for awhile and no one knows how/who made it and that will also make it feel a little mysterious and eerie in a sense. I think a mix of the two block palettes would look really cool and fit into the theme you’re going for in your build. I love how well the base is coming along, keep up the good work 👍♥
I absolutely LOVE how ur area is coming along. I think you should do the darker texture for the skull to add more of a “horror theme”. The skull is giving me skull rock vibes. You should totally play off of that!!! LOVE YOU GEM!!! ❤❤❤
At 17:31 I feel like a mixture of both would look really nice, like it is some sort of structure that is just overgrown type thing.
The way Gem describes texturing reminds me a lot of painting techniques and I really love that. The skull is going to look so so cool once finished
I adore, adore, adore seeing Gem interact with the hermits that we don't often get to witness! Makes me want there to be a conflict, competition, or something similar so that people can harass one another.
A server tour every few months will always be appreciated. 👍
I always love interactions with the hermits! It gives a fresh switch up and shows the connection between each base
I think the skull would look best mossy, i think there is something really impressive to mountains, and i think it would feel more supernatural.
I would love some more of these "meeting heavy" episodes, it's nice to see how things are progressing on the server from time to time
I love VB's house, it's so lovely and I like the way Cleo has placed her trophies, she's been earning a lot of diamonds and that's impressive, nice video Gem, as always is nice to watch your adventures on the H server.
The black water and dark eye socket with the shader on adds so much to the skull, it's way better than with bright blue water and bright eye socket
Skull blending with the terrain would be so cool! Almost as if the skull is natural which would make the area actually seem like unnaturally creepy
For the skull, can you do both palettes? You can use the darker one near the bottom to make it pop, add shadow, and make it more ominous as you're walking through, but the upper half is mossy, worn, and understated in comparison.
ETA: I think a cave pond on the opposite side of skull river would be a wonderful way to connect your base to the crack!!
I'd to half the skull darker...kind of on a slight slant and have lava flow from the other eye into a pool below with magma blocks, etc. Since there's no fire spread on HC, I'd surround the enchanting setup with netherack and set a bunch of it on fire, with a polished blackstone path into the interior. Also, don't forget teeth....Normal on the water side and fanglike on the left. Another cool thing would be to hire Cleo to make handing or floating Hermits with Armor Stands, like souls in torment. :)
For the skull you should use both pallets. The light pallet for most of the skull, and the dark pallet for around where the water flows to give the impression of wet rock
You should blend the skull into the mountain so at first sight you will just see the waterfall, but you will soon see the skull that is textured into the mountain
18:00 I'd go for blend. Horror works best when things aren't completely clear and noticing details causing fealings of dread. in that same vein, if the skull blends in, noticing that it is in fact a skull you're looking at could cause that same feeling
For light inside the sockets, you could go with the lush cave aesthetic and put glow berries hanging down inside.
WAKE UPP GEM POASTEDDD ❤❤❤ edit: i love the new vibes and builds gem is exploring with this season and a little tour around the server was great especially for those who dont have time to watch the other creators ❤️

Just like the meme. Wake up babe.....
i think the skull would look great with some froglights inside the lower eye lid to light them up at night! maybe under the little water pond (?), or around it? and maybe, while inside the skull, you could use a noteblock + ghast head to make it seem like you can hear the skull crying? it's a bit silly, but i think it could spook some people while they're checking it out
Yew i second this idea
I can see your vision for the skull and surrounding area. I love it. The water feature looks so good flowing into the lake/river
my friend got me dredge for my birthday last week and omg ive been obsessed and its given me a newfound appreciation for ur base honestly
I can really see you having fun this season, Gem, because of how interaction heavy the episodes you have uploaded so far. I really like your builds from season 8 and 9 but I love how you are experimenting this season and having aesthetics far off from your personality is something I find fresh. I LOVE the interactions with other hermits because I get excited seeing you from their POV too. Please keep them coming! 💚
I really like that you took us to other people's bases, especially those I don't follow as closely
cleo using the inner side of mushroom blocks for a cork board is genius!! i love that, i wish i'd thought of it myself!
I think your base this season is my favorite build of yours too. Last years was amazing in a broad strokes kind of way, but this year has so many details feels like it tells a story
Idea: make the skull kind of mossy and rusted so it looks sort of mysteriously ancient and abandoned and taken over by nature. You could have some grass patches here and there, some water (like already added, and some leaves and vines maybe. I think that would be really cool! Maybe sort of like a ruin.
Had a thought about the skull - I think light in the eyes might look out of theme. I think light on the brow would highlight that there’s a dark recess there - and fit in with the cute-gloom-core vibe!
Something natural like glow lichen (light level 7) could do the trick, or something like hanging lights from a “happy building” (like a cozy cottage on stilts) that partially obscures the skull would lend it some more ominousness through contrast!
For the light source in the skull, I think soul lanterns would look really cool.
The other eye socket could be a spiky cave for added creepyness or amethyst geode for magestic-ness!!
I love the little gemini giggle❤
I think the skull cave would look cooler and more ancient if you made it mossy (also with what seems like your future theme with the like mysterious creature, you might want it to look more natural and old)
the skull is looking epic, love this theme of spooky water build and love how all the hermits are so connected
Omg the detailing on the skull is looking amazing!!! 😍 Im so stoked to see it done
