Yes, Espen, indeed you ARE the 80s. And this is why we are here. Because of you my innocent trip just to feel nostalgia has turned into a deep dive into writing synthpop and collecting vintage gear. And I THANK YOU! (DW 8000 was my Christmas present).
Great work, very 80s indeed. Around here, when you turned on the TV in the morning, before the program began (!!!), they had this kind of music playing on loop. As kids, we often turned on the TV for this kind of music. So cool. :-)
Everything you say and do is inspiring! I'm about to be 53 years old and i have a 9 year old son and a daughter thats about to turn 4 and they have been giving the love of music as i have. My daughter REALLY loves music and my prayer is they will carry on this love as they grow up. She watches your videos with me and smiles and dances to your music. 😃😃. Thanks for your inspiration. The world needs more MUSIC. Its THE universal language.
Thank you very much for saying! I appreciate the younger generations finding my content entertaining and also educational in some degree. Tell them I said hello and have fun this weekend! :) Best
Really enjoyed this. Just goes to show how little you need to make a track! Sometimes my productions get a little synth heavy, so I have great respect for those who can make tunes with minimal gear. Thank you! :)
love it Espen. I bought a Korg DW8000 because of your video and it changed my life haha. Now I seem to keep buying old synths, and I'm not mad about it ha. All the best from Nashville
AAAHHHHH. YESS!! I’m seeing Michael J Fox on the basketball court if I close my eyes! This really does have that complete 80s aesthetic. I really can hope and remain optimistic that something musical will come in the near future that really makes one feel alive and content to be alive, as I am certain this type of music made so so many people feel when it was just starting to surface. I’m so glad to, that you did all this with really just two synths and the old Sequential TOM! THANK YOU, great work!!
Awesome video as always! AND your video brings up a great point that I would like to share with everyone. I was chatting on a music web site the other day.... as you know, I write and record a lot of commercially licensed music. But one thing that I really "have not" been doing, is playing both synthesizers and also at times acoustic guitar live, as in "real time" including singing. Back in the 80's to 90's I used to play everything live even when MIDI first came out around 1984. And that is something that your own playing skills shows in this video.. how very important it is to keep playing live and in real time, not just recording tracks all the time in DAW's / recording software. Have a great Sunday and upcoming week!
... And today, if you search for a porta7, they're fetching MORE than the Alesis ADATs!! But my goodness those tape echoes are really robbing the spotlight from most mastering limiters compressors and other decks. At least at the present time. Tomorrow? Back to the ADATs maybe?
I knew I was gonna dig the s*** out of this one loooong before you kicked off the Sequential Tom beat! You absolutely know what you’re doing, Espen! It’s great to finally hear an example of the DSS-1. All I ever knew of this model is how it interfered with the success of the Sequential Prophet 2000 because of the ill timing.
This is great. A complete antidote to the idea that you have to spend weeks crafting a tune. You can use your synths and still make some awesome music in a matter of minutes (well with your skill you can!!)
Thanks Espen that was really well done , great to see how you work and was certainly reminiscent of some excellent Italo songs from that era. I Especially like the Poly 61 bass, seems an underrated synth wish Korg would make something like it again!
Really cool...Now you just need bass pedals, a fender stratocaster (not to play just to hit the stop start and fill button on the drum machine when swinging in the right direction) and korg delta to the side with long release sweeps. Oh and black and white hair..great video.
I can understand the fear, but if the plastic isn't broken I dthink it'll hold just fine. The mk1 sounds better than the DX7II, but that is great too. :)
Thank you thank you thank you. I bought several classic 80s sequencers and I wanna use them to make kool synth wave tracks such as your own. Your music is awesome man🤘🎹
How the hell you weren't signed and famous I will never know.
Your seriously one cool and talented guy.
You're my pop star Espen.
"I'm Espen Kraft - I *AM* the 80s". Damn, dude. That's A PERFECT SLOGAN. Oh, and nice shirt! ;-) ;-)
Hah, thought you might like that shirt man! ;-) Thanks :)

Many thanks Ryan! And congrats on the DW-8000!
"The key is not over-processing and over-complicating it." words I definitely needed to hear. thanks for the continuing inspiration.
Thank you! :-)
"Well, whatever.." as the motivation for this nice little jamming session is totally fine by me.
Cool. ;-)

Sweet Floyd, I didn't know that. Cool tv-station. Thanks! :)
Quit your dithering, Floyd-Steinberg. 😁 (Get it?)
@@danielschmitt1782 as long as there are people who only know black and white and nothing in between: never ever. 😁
@@mr_floydst Nice one!
In EVERY video you make, the sounds make me so chill ! Congrats
Cheers!
Very nice jam. That Sequential TOM sounds so powerful.
Thanks! That it is :)
I had a Korg Poly 61 back in the day, man, I miss that thing!
Great track! If nothing else it reminded me of what a happy sound most 80s pop had.
'I am the 80s' and the waves to prove it. Great!
I love your music. I love the 80's synthwave synth sounds. Bravo!
Many thanks man! :)

You are the 80s Espen, you got that right.
"Reason for that is...whatever" I love it haha :D
Really iconic synth bass here! Loving the string pads too.
Many thanks! :)
Damm this is really relaxing
Sweet! :)
So inspirational! Helps me to look at writing in a new (and more effective) way. Thanks Espen.
You can never have enough keyboards, awesome freestyling, some of the best music is made this way, you get a thumbs up, great work once again
Top quality as always. Thank you for bringing the true 80s music back!
My pleasure. Thanks! :-)
I love that pad sound.
Really enjoyed this. Just goes to show how little you need to make a track! Sometimes my productions get a little synth heavy, so I have great respect for those who can make tunes with minimal gear. Thank you! :)
Thanks Geoff! :)
thank you Espen ! all the best for you and have a beautiful weekend ! greetz from austria to you! 🎹🎹❤🧡💛🤍🖤

Sweet man, great news. I take full responsibility! ;-)

Great piece of music... You sure have a great collection of keyboard's.
More please!!!
Great stuff! This absolutely needs to turn into a full song 👌
If nothing else, I'll use parts of this in other song. That's usually how these ideas end up. ;-) Thanks!
Excellent track and Punchy bass! Great video Espen. ;-)
Many thanks man! :)
You are one of the best 80's person on RUclips keep it up. I love your music as for myself I am going to produce my own music in FL studio
May thanks Aiden! :)
I LOVED my DSS 1. I should have never gotten rid of it. Them sounds was THICC!
Classic Espen!
ALWAYS 80s GOLD!
Sweet :)
3 synths and a drum machine is all I need in life.
Thank you for the Sonic Adventure to the 80's!
My pleasure, thanks! :)
Very fresh take! Makes me wanna try this kinda one-man-band set-up with my gear.

Yet another awesome video Espen! Loved that synth bass sound from the Poly 61 because it was just so, so well... whatever.
Haha, thanks! ;-)
That key change works brilliantly! This tune will rock. :)
Thanks! :-)
I AM THE 80'S! 😁😁 Brilliant!
Tune reminds me of Electric Youth and early morning sunshine!
Perfect sound. Best Electronic music and sound. Sound like the eighties.
Thanks! :)
I love this track, Espen!
The drum sound is particularly good.
Fab!!
Awesome! :)
Fantastic video, sir! I like working quickly-digging the song! Have a rocking weekend! 👍
Thanks Chris, you too! :)
I really enjoyed this performance. Love the 80's sounds. Keep up the good work Espen.
Many thanks Christian! :)
Simply elegant. Takes me right back.
Cheers!
Analog sounded sooo good!!! I remember having a similar synth set up plus a Tascam 4 track recorder. LOL

Espen kraft for the win!
Thanx. That was a teaching month of moments. wonderful.
Sweet, thanks! :)
So beautiful music! Can listen to this so many times, it is so good!
Thanks! :)
"I AM the 80s" is now your trademark
Awesome, happy to hear so many picking up on it! Thanks. :-)
I don't know how many views this video will get, but I would watch such things every day!
Great to hear. I hope to do more of these. ;-)
So simpel und richtig gut!
VERY WARM SOUND AND PLEASANT

This 80s stuff is the absolute best. Fantastic era in music history. Modern music does nothing for me.
Mmmm the akais....Exellently done!!
Thats a kick-ass bassound you got there Mister..👍
Cheers!
Nice tune. I just got your Alpha Juno patches last night and they are very good. Helping me learn the Alpha Juno’s architecture. Thank you
Many thanks for the support! I hope you like them :)
Thanks! I assume you've seen my 50 min demo/tutorial of the DSS-1? ;-)
That’s to come, Espen Kraft.
Beautiful Setup! 😎
Digging the lighting 💡
I could listen to you all day, man. Great job 👍
Thanks! :)
Oh that Korg Poly-61 is the first I've ever seen since I sold mine to go to University. But I still miss it :(
So amazing! Found your channel randomly and so glad i did. I'd love to hear some sort of 80s german style of Newwave, Pop, Synth...
Sweet! I'm not German though. ;-)
Wow man so inspiring! Awesome 👏 as usual Mr Kraft. Love your work.
Thanks Johnny! Happy weekend! :-)
Am Krishnan - Am the 80s too. I live in the 80s and I don't wanna come outta that decade.

Perfect work Espen
Many thanks man! :)
Very classic indeed! A female voice in the style of Sandra Cretu would fit the song very well.
Thanks! :)
Or Michael Cretu! :-)
@@Aetila Or even both of them together...
Espen, Вы умеете делать праздник! Спасибо!
Thank you for this lesson in arrangement and simplicity!
Cheers!
I should add, all this needs is some vocals and it would be absoloute perfection!
I might do it. ;-)
Very beautiful sounds!
Thanks! :-)
Simply the best. Non mi stanco di dirlo.
simple, yet effective, as we used to say in
THE 80s!
You already got Klæbo and now you’ve got Kraft. Here’s to Norway 🇳🇴🍾
Klæbo is awesome so I thank you for the comparison Anders! ;-)
I'm in the process of rebuilding my PC, these kind of videos inspire me to create some new tracks :)
Awesome! :)
As usually Espen. GREAT stuff. this made my day :)
Awesome, thanks! ;-)
Cool , sounds like a Prince beat
Damn, the Poly-61 is really good for synth bass!
It's awesome for bass! :)
Really cool...Now you just need bass pedals, a fender stratocaster (not to play just to hit the stop start and fill button on the drum machine when swinging in the right direction) and korg delta to the side with long release sweeps. Oh and black and white hair..great video.

Gorgeous as always! 🤘😊
Sweet, Thanks! :)
Awesome to watch this! Inspiring.
Cheers!
Nice one. Uplifted
Awesome, thanks! :)
Espen Kraft ive been looking for a Yamaha DX7ii for some time, here in U.K, I have a mk1 but afraid to press the membrane buttons!
I can understand the fear, but if the plastic isn't broken I dthink it'll hold just fine. The mk1 sounds better than the DX7II, but that is great too. :)
Love it !!
Thanks! :)
Excelente!!! Gracias por compartir tus conocimientos con los que amamos esta música...
Gracias! :)
Luv hour style and sounds sir! 🙌🏻⚡️❤️💪🏻🎶👏🏻

Thanks!
'New' synth wave :) Korg DSS-1 sounds nice here and the chord progression is interesting to hear mid song. Perhaps some lead would be warranted here.
Thanks! History will show if I want further with this track... ;-)
I Have 19 Years old and i love this style músic i'm gonna make this in My fl studio
Thanks! :)
Please Please Please Vocals 🤩
The pad is awesome. It will be a great song
