Great job on the video, guys. I retired a few years prior to the closing, 38 years of service. It was a great place to work. We built a quality car and the place was just teeming with wonderful people. Thanks for this.
I don't know how I have never seen this video, but it is the most beautiful thing I have ever watched... brings tears to my eyes to see this. Truly the best vehicle ever created. I am so proud to own one. I wish I could go back in time and see this with my own eyes.
If you are ever a billionaire and don’t know what to do with your money. Make the world a better place by rebuilding this plant and the panther platform cars it made! That’s something we all would appreciate and is the best way to spread the money around the world!
Thank you St Thomas Assembly plant for building my 2011 Lincoln Town Car Signature Limited and the Grand Marquis, Crown Victoria, and Marauder. The plant may be gone, but not forgotten!
you guys can be proud of your work no matter what. you Built THE last american dinosaur! it was the last of the breed! and it will be missed! i bought mine 4 days ago (P71) and thats coming from a chevy guy....
It would be sweet to buy the rights to the panther platform You could make all kinds of vehicles on it. You could use it to build a regular vic as well as a ute/ranchero type vehicle and a wagon/suv type vehicle
You actually got to build the vic? Do you realise how badly I always wanted to. You guys built one hell of a car. I'm on my 3rd... If it wasn't for the vic, I'd be dead right now. I got hit by a semi in my last one. the semi was doing 100kmh and I walked out relatively unharmed other then my back and neck hurt. This is the saddest video I think I've ever seen. I think Ford should've kept the last vic though. Not sold it to some random country. It should've stayed at the Ford Headquarters. Quite possibly the one crown vic that every crown vic owner in the world wants.
15 Sept 2018 7 years after plant was shut down :( sad day, nothing left after great factory where awsome cars, last body on frame RWD V8's were made. Sorry for all staff who lost their jobs too RIP Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Town Car and St.Thomas Assembly plant :( F-U FORD for doing this!!!!!
Awesome Video. It almost kinda brings a tear to your eye. Everytime i see footage of this factory where they made these amazing engineering masterpieces, i think, June of 2000 my MGM rolled down that very production line.
I own a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria Built there :) My Dad was one of the Supervisors at the Plant. Rick Richardson. I miss him every day and I still think that maybe if the plant hadn't closed he might still be here today and wouldn't have had to go to Michigan to get a job at a different plant and inevitably have a heart attack. But that's just me.
I agree 100%, but it needed to be updated. An independent rear suspension, and optional 3.7 V6 or 5.0 Coyote would have made it competitive. AWD would have been nice too!
Ford stop selling the Crown Vic to the general public in 08 and would only sell it to for fleet orders and police departments, so if people wanted a vic they had to pay the extra premium to get the Grand Marquis or the Town Car which the most of the general public in 08 due to the economic down turn just couldn't justify the costs, so the purchased less expensive vehicles that matched the 20k starting cost of newer Crown Victoria.
@@michaellindemuth9053 I don't get it 20k for new CV, my 01 Grand Marquis LS was 25k now people spending 35k+ for basic models with I4 engines full of cheap plastics what the hell happened to world?
I'm from Malaysia,so deep and emotional the last vic production, even though the model is very rare and only used by the USA embassy but, sad,I always wanted this car :(
It is so hard to believe it's been almost a decade since one has been built and they are still highly sought after cars. I built the fuel bundle for them from 1993 - 2000 no telling how many millions of cars in my time. I started making them with Galfan, then Stainless steel, in the end with Ny-gal. This platform was what paid all the bills and everybody's salary for the plant that I worked at in Cartersville Bundy tubing/T. I. Automotive. I took great pride in what I made. This place boomed during my years there we built the 9j (crown vic/town car/grand marquis) and DN101(Taurus/Sable) we worked 7 days a week to keep up. Great times sad to see all these folks lose their jobs. Really sad to see (STAP) was torn down now.
This was really really well edited. I shot a bunch of footage of the last day on the line at STAP too, if you ever need any more 720p clips for another compilation just drop me a line.
I am sure the Kathleen Wynne is proud. She has driven more manufacturing out of Ontario, especially with noncompetitive hydro rates. She would rather have us all weaving baskets. It is a tragedy when a plant like this closes. It seems that with every free trade agreement, more of our plants close and more of theirs open. I am no Trump admirer, but, he has it right on "free trade". With Wynne and lopsided trade agreements, it is a miracle we make anything in Canada.
Horrible, I'm sure Mexico is appreciative of all the new jobs. They claim it's too expensive to retool a factory for another car but it doesn't seem like it was too expensive to build a new factory a few years earlier in a country with no labor laws.
Remember to thank Bill Ford Jr. for closing the Wixom plant. The most awarded, the most cost efficient, the highest quality, most profitable automobile plant in automotive history. By running the Ford Motor Company like his daddy Bill Ford Sr. ran the Lions football team. Right into the dirt. All that excellent automobile building talent thrown into the streets of Wixom and onto the I-96 freeway. Billy Jr. threw them all away like dust in the wind. I hope none of those former Wixom plant employees ever buy another Ford vehicle. Billy's decision made G.M. the ONLY luxury automobile builder in the United States. Thanks Bill.
NicksterSVT Are those the power window mechanisms? LOL, yes that was the only part that ever failed on mine! Well, that and the security features, since it ultimately got stolen.
It is too bad they didn't give a proper funeral for Buick City, Chevy In the Hole, AC Spark Plug, and Fisherbody 1 in Flint, Michigan. I can certainly understand how these people feel. The loss of an assembly plant has the same affect on a community as the loss of a family member or loved one. I know that Flint will never be the same, and I am sure it's that way with the community of St. Thomas.
C.V.p71 keep the ford from going under plus its well build cars at ST Thomas plant.Ford going wish shoudn't never close that plant.Cop all they ask is more power under hood, update them,All readly they having trouble with new 2013 cop cars Sooo when is the new crown vic p71 coming back any date u can give us. U going lose Ford just like chev caprice 9C1 notice They had come back with rear drive again.
Great job on the video, guys. I retired a few years prior to the closing, 38 years of service. It was a great place to work. We built a quality car and the place was just teeming with wonderful people. Thanks for this.
Back when workers took pride in their work.
Thank you for your time spent there. I own a 2006 and a 2011 Crown Victoria. Best cars I have ever driven
I don't know how I have never seen this video, but it is the most beautiful thing I have ever watched... brings tears to my eyes to see this. Truly the best vehicle ever created. I am so proud to own one. I wish I could go back in time and see this with my own eyes.
What's sucks is all these damn 4 bangers and shity V6'S killed off all of these powerful V8'S that RULLED the road for a long time. R.I.P CROWN VIC
gas prices too lol
Blame on the CAFE standards that came in 2012.
If you are ever a billionaire and don’t know what to do with your money. Make the world a better place by rebuilding this plant and the panther platform cars it made! That’s something we all would appreciate and is the best way to spread the money around the world!
Just stopped at the Plant to see whats left.. Totally sad!! Loved the soundtrack and video editing..
Thank you St Thomas Assembly plant for building my 2011 Lincoln Town Car Signature Limited and the Grand Marquis, Crown Victoria, and Marauder. The plant may be gone, but not forgotten!
Great video. I was at Atlanta Assembly building the Taurus when it closed. It’s an eerie feeling when that last car rolls off the line.
you guys can be proud of your work no matter what. you Built THE last american dinosaur! it was the last of the breed! and it will be missed! i bought mine 4 days ago (P71) and thats coming from a chevy guy....
loved those Crown Vics! Hope Ford brings them back someday!
I can understand just how heart wrenching that would be, I did 30 years in a GM plant
I miss the Crown Vic - what a wonderful car it was! Maybe one day Ford will bring it back I hope!
Love it... I hope you guys found good work afterwards. If I had a billion dollars I would have bought the plant and kept it going.
Nikolas Tesla Ford wanted to end the Vic...
It would be sweet to buy the rights to the panther platform
You could make all kinds of vehicles on it. You could use it to build a regular vic as well as a ute/ranchero type vehicle and a wagon/suv type vehicle
If that would happen I hope you also buy the rights to the Vic
great film same happened hear in the UK at the Dagenham plant where I worked for 26 year's!
You actually got to build the vic? Do you realise how badly I always wanted to. You guys built one hell of a car. I'm on my 3rd... If it wasn't for the vic, I'd be dead right now. lets hope that the last crown vic doesn't get sold to some douche that crashes it in less than a month
I believe it's on display at the dealer that recieved it in Saudi Arabia.
correct. It is on display at a dealership in Saudi Arabia. It's in a climate controlled showroom.
While this would be cool to have, I'd rather have a Cobra Vic. If you don't know what it is, google it. They are impressive.
15 Sept 2018 7 years after plant was shut down :( sad day, nothing left after great factory where awsome cars, last body on frame RWD V8's were made.

RIP Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Town Car and St.Thomas Assembly plant :(
F-U FORD for doing this!!!!!
Tomek 1985
Don’t put all the heat on ford, what about Chevy discontinuing the caprice? It’s the American companies fault for making it die!
Good shot of my dad at 3:08, sad day for him.
Crown Vics were Damn great cars ..... Strong , Durable , Reliable
It's amazing video about crown vic
Its 2020 now and ford has just killed off the last two lincoln cars. The MKZ and the Continental. So sad.
Awesome Video. It almost kinda brings a tear to your eye. Everytime i see footage of this factory where they made these amazing engineering masterpieces, i think, June of 2000 my MGM rolled down that very production line.
Great video, we had a similar experience with the Ford Ranger factory in St.Paul, Minnesota closing. Thank you for your work :D
I own a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria Built there :) My Dad was one of the Supervisors at the Plant. Rick Richardson. brought me to tears
thank you for making me an awesome vehicle
I promise to always take care of her!
People should've bought more Crown Vic's...
I agree 100%, but it needed to be updated. An independent rear suspension, and optional 3.7 V6 or 5.0 Coyote would have made it competitive. AWD would have been nice too!
Perhaps, but then it wouldn't be a crown vic any longer - RWD V8

Juan Cabeza ¿¿IS GAS FREE??

Well done, and thanks for sharing.
I'm the proud owner of a Marauder and a Grand Marquis built on the line.
I'm from Malaysia,so deep and emotional the last vic production, even though the model is very rare and only used by the USA embassy but, sad,I always wanted this car :(

Aside from loosing friends, it was one of the saddess day for everyone.
The CV was never sold in my country. Still my favourite car and I hope I can get one somehow when I can

excellent video & the music goes great with it
The end of the true American car era. So sad the building no longer exists... This makes me value my 1989 LX more. :(
Horrible, I'm sure Mexico is appreciative of all the new jobs. They claim it's too expensive to retool a factory for another car but it doesn't seem like it was too expensive to build a new factory a few years earlier in a country with no labor laws.
sad ford gets rid of the good ones
vehicles this was the best police cruiser ever.

1:47 the most replaced part in the entire car... lol

Yup, even in the old LTD ones.
still love my vic
my friend and co-worker Zac made it for this video. it's a good tune but no title
awesome job on the vid. big ups to st thomas crew hopefully things take a turn for the better

cnnw3929
you worked in buick city?
How many extra parts are left over? I could use a new civilian drivers door to get rid of my P71 door
Awesome video!
whatever happened to all the extra parts? Did they get shipped to dealers and parts houses? We own an 03 CVPI and its the best car we've ever owned.
emotional video man...i work at oakville and do not want to see that.
Ate hoje bate forte no coraçao sou fan do ford crown victoria desde criança
Sad to see still a very nice car made in Canada ..........
Sad part is that this location went from good paying jobs to low paying jobs. Amazon bought the land and built a new distribution centre.
Anyone know this song?
Rear wheel drive vehicles are the way they need to make them today
Where was the 4.6 engine built?
Paul Peck Romeo Michigan more than likely
Romeo or Windsor, mostly Romeo
Lindo mesmo
So Sad!
funeral of the crown vic...
Ford really fucked up on this one:(
THOSE LAST ONES WERE POLICE CARS ,,IT KEPT THE POLICE SAFE, WHY DID FORD GO IT ,, HAD THE BEST CAR IN THE WORLD AND LUMPED IT

No wonder it went under when the employees are piddling around with cameras all day.
It was the last day. Pretty sure this wasn't an everyday occurrence.
