    I love viewing your artwork, I like it so much, I bought me some carving tools and I started carving, I have always been the artistic type, But I had never carved anything before, I`m working on my first walking stick, I walk 5 miles a day, As for the carving I love it, it is so relaxing, it truly takes one`s mind out of this trouble world.
    Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talent with us.

    It's great when you can come across history like that, campfires stories told umpteen times, families grow, move but leave their mark, all wonderful stuff. That Serpentine is found here in the UK too, strange that the place that has it is called The Lizard, in Cornwall, beautiful stone...

    Mike, the rocks in your cave adventure appear to be flint, like we have in the south of England near where my sister lives, and is often used in those parts for walls of houses, and is hard, and durable, as your Native American arrowheads. You seem to be able to make anything, and now using Serpentine rock, it is wonderful what you can turn your hand to. What I wonder will be in your next video!!! Cheers from John.

    Hi, Mike,
    I always worry that you'll come across some snake or other in these mountains. Have you ever come across any on your wanderings? I just also worry that Pearl would come out of there shaking a snake, the way my dogs used to back in Namibia when I lived there. They weren't much bigger than Pearl.
    I loved the stick at the beginning of the video and the carvings at the end of the video.
    Take care now.
    Kind regards.
    Liz.

    +Stinnett Sticks.....hey Mike, when you are carving the serpentine, I assume your using diamond bits (?) , and once your carving is done, do you do any sanding with progressive grits before you do the final polishing portion ?

    • @StinnettSticks
      @StinnettSticks  7 лет назад +1

      I start out with diamond to get the shapes. Then I go to a smooth cut carbide bit to carve in the simulated flakes. Then I take some polishing compound and a rag wheel to bring out the shine.

    Wow this is just gorgeous and I mean everything: the nature, your art, the music, the peace. Mike, thanks for sharing it all with us. I love you man and your vids. I wish I could visit those places one day and breath the air and experience the Oregon nature. The wildlife seems to be at peace and not concerned about your presence. Thanks for the video.

    I believe the native Americans would start a fire in the small cave openings to heat the rock up fairly hot and then throw batches of water at the walls and ceiling causing a sudden thermal shock making rock shatter off the face. latter it would be napped into arrow heads ect..

    • @StinnettSticks
      @StinnettSticks  4 года назад

      I'll bet that is exactly what they did! I never thought of that!

      @@StinnettSticks Ancient African tribes did something similar but they would burn brush on top cliffs and rock outcrops till the rock was fairly hot, then throw batches of water on the rock and it would instantly crack into manageable flat rocks that they used to build extremely high dry stacked stone stacked walls that surrounded there towns and villages as well as primitive grain and maize silos. Contrary to what the history books teach us, Africans actually had highly organized and intelligent societies.

      @@StinnettSticks Native Americans would also make dry stacked stone shelters and cover them in soil that would act like geothermal homes to keep them warm in cold weather climates. They most likely used these same methods to quarry the stone.

    Looks awesome Mr. Stinnett! I enjoyed the video. Also, if you do not mind me asking. What kind of dust collection system were you using while making the arrowhead?

      Thank you, Matt! It's a Vangaurd by Viniman. It's designed more for laboratories rather than wood carving. But works good on small projects. Expensive, though!

      Try clicking the gear shaped object in the Settings section, then click Subtitles, then click Auto-translate and choose Spanish. that should work. at least it does for me. I hope it will work for you.
