    I must have a super duper rare CDI game, cause I cannot seem to find it anywhere. Not on this list, or any other Philips CDI list online. I can't offer the name of the game as it's been so long since I played it. But it was like a cartoon music studio game. Where you can tweak the music video that plays. Like...change it to a country-version, or rocknroll-version etc, and switch out parts of the music video by switching characters you chose. It was....quite strange, but also very entertaining. If anyone know what game I am talking about, please please please get ahold of me. All I can remember is that there was like this evil pizza creature, and a sentient bus character within the music video part.

      Hey MissMeliss. Let me know if you discover or figure out the name of the game you are looking for. I'm not for sure off-hand, sry. The only games that comes to mind that sounds similar is for the Sega CD system. There is a few music video games for that system from C&C music factory, Kris Kross, Marky Mark, and maybe one or two others. But realize you're looking for a Philips CD-i game possibly. Take care give a shout anytime. Have fun gaming !!! and let us know if you find your game xD

    The CD-i was not a video game console. There were video games for it but it was not a video game console as we think about them today. It was a multimedia device for music, movies, educational/informational software as well as other software. It was more like a computer for your television. Video games were still seen as toys for kids and teens in 1990/1991 and the video game industry was not what it is now. The game library is not great but the system had other intended uses. Compact Discs were just coming to the fore and this system was aimed to take full advantage of the medium.

    CD-i, 3DO and Neo Geo were for rich families only in the early to mid 1990s. These systems cost $500 or more. The general public that wasnt rich could hardly afford to buy 100 dollar nintendos and 200 dollar snes was quite high for most people. i chose to buy sega genesis in 1992 because it was like 50 bucks less than snes. the cd-i has an outstanding variety of software when you do the research. the people behind cd-i put in a great effort at making available a lot of cdi software to people who bought a cdi and theres even all kinds of different cdi hardware. Sega CD was also for rich people only in the early 90s as well. even the saturn when it came out in 1995 was 400 bucks. again, rich only. 300 dollars is about the limit most people will spend on a gaming console. thats a big reason that PS1 and N64 were a good success. not too expensive to begin with.

    Oooh I used to play these at my grandpa's house, he has either the Dutch or English versions of Alice in Wonderland (by far my favourite), The Apprentice (pretty cool but the hard for child me, actually they all were), Wacky World of Miniature Golf, Space Ace (although I believe that one was a demo) as well as some others that weren't in the video. I believe one was a flintstones one, might have involved the Jetsons as well. And there was also one where you were a seal that went to the circus, which was like a path choosing game for small children. In a way this was my very first console, had some great memories on this.

    I could have sworn there was a CD-I game where you are in Ancient China, first person view and if you die you would wind up in one of the levels of Chinese hell and be reincarnated to try and progress again and again- I saw a play through of it on You Tube a few years back but I cant find it now, or remember the name. My question is were you able to get games that required the digital video cartridge to actually work? I know mutant rampage, dragons lair, mad dog mcree, 7th guest and a handful of others used it... I’ve got Cdi working thru mess but any ones that require that cartridge do not work

    • @Dubbloseven
      @Dubbloseven  6 лет назад +2

      It's been years since I've played this system but was also using the mess emulator. I probably came to the same result but did play and test many of the games I could get working. I thought it was a really unique cool system. I remember it from back in the day but didn't play it back then or own one. though emulation has been progressing nicely in recent years.

      agreed man... I actually had one for a few years, bought a broken one and fixed it... it lasted another 2 years... then finally died altogether... The DVC games are pretty cool... They have made real strides with the emulation too... you used to only be able to use a mouse, now if you really pay attention to what you are doing on settings, you can use a joystick. I love this system even tho the games are not that good lol

    There is a racing game that I played like 30 years ago at Epcot on a game console kiosk and I can't find the game. It was either on the Phillips CDi, 3DO or Pioneer Laseractive I think. It had a behind the car view with a camera set relatively high above the road, kinda like Roadblasters. The track's environment was a volcanic wasteland, and kinda looked like Hell or something. The racing was fast paced, it had a very bad framerate, and a rendering technique I'd never seen before or since. It's not Crash n Burn on 3DO, but it looked vaguely similar to it. Anyone have any recollection of this game?
