So appreciate you taking the time to make this video! I thought I understood parts of it and realize now my whooole mental model was wrong on some things. This was _so_ useful. Now to enjoy my leploop even more!
My leploop arrived yesterday from a very patient Marco at elevator sound, this video has literally in the first 20 minutes helped me massively. Havent watched sequencer section yet but with this detailed explanation I’m sure this little box will come alive for me Thank you!!!
Is there a way to bypass the sequence and just trigger the sounds from a midi controller? I'm seeing from the manual that channel 16 is default for percussive, and channel 1 is default for pwm notes, but I'm not getting any sound when I switch to ext clock and input notes from my controller. Any suggestions?
Ahh the greatest watch in the business ;o) although I forgot to wear mine on this take!! Glad to have been of service Honeysmack, this video is well overdue and I'm pleased to have finally got something out there.... even if it is a bit long! Hope you get something out of it....
Hi CALC (Chris?), you saved my life!! I had my LL (like many others) carefully packed away in a carrier to do, uh, nothing with it! The manual (although beautiful) did not make any sense; the videos online so far, no sense; even Kink, using it, sort of mentioned it made no sense to him :-D Having your video watched multiple times, scrolling through it second for second I finally start to understand it and... it is actually not that bad! Finally I’m able to use this beauty in my techno sets with my controller! Mille grazie signore CALC!! Igor, Alias Ueberdandy
Omg thank you so much! I’ve had my Leploop for almost a year now but never was able to make a damn sound because I don’t know how to use it haha. Looking at manuals were like reading another language too. Again, thank you!!
Wow it is in depth! Thank you. Might have to watch rest later😊 good to meet you at sonic state gig..(Shelly's)....your set ear wormed me for months lol...
@@-CALC- All good here! Hope alls good with you too....and can't wait till next gig! Seriously I couldn't think about your set with out it being stuck in my head🙌🙌🙌good job😂
I figured this might be a good place to see! Anyone else have any issues with a high noise floor on the Leploop. I love this thing but there is a lot of PSU noise. I'm trying to locate a suitable PSU to replace the one I got just in case it's a PSU issue.
Hello CALC thank you very much for this video. I'm looking for partner for my Toraiz SP-16 and this maybe will be the right tool. I do techno. Question, you say the sound is gorgeous. For instance the Elektron OT sound i don't like. I say this to get hopefully a answer ;-)
Hey thanks for the comment, although I'm afraid I'm not quite sure what your question actually is ;o). If you're asking why I say the sound of the Leploop is gorgeous I guess we'd have to ask the neurons in my brain that. I think that beautiful sound is completely in the ear of the beholder, one person's sound is not necessarily anothers. For me one of the most enjoyable things in the Leppy are the raw oscillators... they are definitely rough and unstable but that suits me absolutely fine. The special sauce that I like the most with these too is in the crossmod FM between the two oscillators. Not sure if that helps, to be honest the Leploop is such a wild beast that its difficult to define properly. Although I do take pleasure in the sound of the Oscs I suppose its the sum of all of the parts together that make it a piece of gear I genuinely love.
Thank you very much. Of course "it's a man taste". It will not easy to find the right gear. I also have a closer look to MFB SYNTH PRO, Vermona Performer MK II and Virus TI. Totally different boxes. The problem is that i have no chance to listen it personally only videos and people love help me to find the right synth.
Thanks a million for doing this video ! Although, when in red led mode, when I press sh2 + button 5 or 10 nothing is happening (it's supposed to reset as you show in the video). sh2 + button 1 is working nice though.
very thorough! what a cool machine.. (and great explanation video!) - just one question .. technically, is it actually VCO 1 modulating the pitch of VCO 2? ie. VCO 1 is the modulation source and VCO 2 pitch the destination? (or vice versa)?
Hi Calc! Thanks a bunch for doing this tutorial! One thing i cant figure out...if i record the voltage from the s&h in the sequencer, and then save the preset, those pitch voltages dont get stored on the preset. But if i manually enter the pitch on the sequencer as in your video, with the leploop stopped and the filter open, to hear the notes on each step, those values do get stored on the preset, but not the ones recorded into the sequencer from the s&h....any ideas? Gracias!
Thats a modification that the guys in Milano put on for me. The Pots are fine tuning controls for the oscillator's pitch. Its not a standard feature but its a big help to me.
This video is still an absolute essential watch and very useful today. Thank you. X
30:27 Personal note, sequencer talk starts. Thanks for this video. Hard beast to tame.
Whoever made this synth is legitimately insane
it's a friend of mine and , yes, he's 😄

Thanks for the review. I’m seriously thinking to pick one up.
thank you for this CALC. Got lost in manual so many times, and this just paints such a clearer picture
This is the thing that finally made it all make sense to me, thanks! Good fodder to write a "missing manual"

I've been waiting 26 years for this!!! Thanks mate

Good work!
Thanks for this, I love my LEPLOOP; perseverance is key to getting awesome sounds out if it indeed.
Thank you for this tutorial.
Thanks a lot for this, man!
Nice one. Been waiting for a new Calc video and a look at this LepLoop!
Leoloop is so cool and power machine! Thank Calc!
Omg thank you so much! I’ve had my Leploop for almost a year now but never was able to make a damn sound because I don’t know how to use it haha. Looking at manuals were like reading another language too.
Again, thank you!!
u are the best thank u. this little box is sooo good and soo deep.
nice one Chris.
Thanks for this. I'm on the verge of ordering the V2 and looking for any instructional resources I can find.
This awesome video couldn’t have come at a better time, I’ve just bought one!
Ha Ha Nice one Ben, Hope alls good mate. Enjoy the Leppy.... i know I do ;o)

Le' Ploop seems fun.

Wonderful, so helpful!!
this think sound Awesome .... I don't even own one and I can already see i'm gonna developed a love-hate relationship with it .

Mine's coming tomorrow 💣
Next week
Do you think you could share some pictures or a schematic of the fine tune modification? Would be great thing to add myself!
does it compete with the state-variable SEM-filter?
legend ! this was such a helpful tutorial : )
Can you sync leploop to dfam?

What are the knobs on the back near the PSU cable?

@@-CALC- nice, thanks!
It is pretty coarse on the osc pots. How'd they fit them in though, very limited space all over!
@@-CALC- it would be great to see a follow up video with the midi features! : )
