When I heard this song without watching the trailer my mind created a story:
A little girl lived happy in a wonderful land almost like Wonderland but all of this world was in her mind. With the pass of the years in the real world she realized that none of the things she believed in her childhood is real and she starts to corrupt herself like almost all people. Desperate, the girl returned to her world but at that time that land with which she lived her childhood was almost devastated thanks to a source of corruption. The girl cries when she sees all the devastation but at the end she stands up with determination and looks towards the source, determined to destroy it.

It is unbelievable how Gareth Coker could take this already perfect composition of the previous game and was able to engage so much more on it.
It's breaking my heart in so many ways.
These pauses he sets in the theme starting at 1:24 are having such a huge impact and leave so much thoughts about what must have happened in the meantime.
Let alone that this is probably the main theme which will be built upon for the rest of the soundtrack. Thinking back to the ending songs in the last game I feel like we're in for a spectacular if not the soundtrack of the year. These guys make magic happen right before our eyes, I'm positive this still is gaming history.

I found the trailer from youtube, and not from the E3 Conference. I knew an Ori sequel was annouced, and I was pleasantly surprised and prepared for an emotional return. Or so I thought.
It wasnt the soft bereft melody of the piano, or seeing Koru's feather again. it wasn't seeing creatures at the windmill that looked very much like our hero.
It was that dead elder tree battered by the storm, and the orchestra's crescendo of ...wailing despair that broke me.
I'm not a crying man, but seeing Koru's offspring and Ori standing in graveyard, and feeling that sense of grieving the music and trailer conveyed... Wow.
I'm scared of sequels and more than that, E3 hype, but this..? I'm looking forward to this.

Whoever does the vocals at the end of this is extremely talented. That bit at the end really ties the whole thing together.

Gareth, this is truly a wonderful piece you have created.
As a former pianist myself, I truly appreciate the flow and delicacy in which you play.
It's given me the push I needed to take the piano back up.

Aeralie has turned gaming into an art form with her vocals. This piece, like all the others, is pure magic. Well done Gareth and the rest of the team. I can't wait to listen to (soon to be) one of the greatest soundtracks in gaming history.

This music can fit Metro and other grim post-apocalypse games/films. I love how professionals put their passion into seemingly naive game (Ori) to make it feel extremely serious and emotionally deep, and the way the game was directed, such synergy in all aspects, almost as if it was made by one person.

I'm so glad you are doing the music for the sequel!!! The music you composed for Ori and the Blind Forest was masterful and really took video game soundtracks to a whole new level. It felt that the game could have been made after listening to the music, not just vice versa. Also, is it weird that every time I hear the piano in the beginning I think of "Winter" by Tori Amos?
