  • It took me about 8 hours to complete Ori and the Will of the Wisps. This game is awesome from start to finish and this ending is beautiful. It's worth playing the first Ori and then play Will of the Wisps after.

@@Chappie432 I don't disagree. However, just because Shriek killed so many creatures doesn't entirely mean she "doesn't deserve better". Shriek has lived her life being an enforcer for Silent Woods and doing so for years... alone. I agree her backstory doesn't justify her killing; but it does justify on what she IS and how it affects her VIEWS on life. Being a creature of darkness, being alone, and rejected has cause Shriek so much pain and sadness that she later turned to hatred. I think she deserved a better ending because at the last moments of her life she curled up to her parents and dies without knowing what love and "warmth" really means. No offense. Rejected by pretty much everyone, including her own kind, Shriek has only known loneliness and her mind became so corrupted to the point where she wouldn't believe in Ori's attempt to be her friend. After falling from battle with Ori, she used the remaining strength to fly back to her home so she could die in the embrace of her parents' corpse. In the end, she was just a child, still small enough to fit snug in her parent's wings, who only wanted warmth of kindness and love from others.

At 4:48 the foreground (what seems ignore-able because of how blurred out it is) is actually the various beings that inhabit the Wellspring Glades. Tokk (the bird) is most recognizable to the left, where his jaw actually drops and he loses the little twig he nibbles at. Beside him is Grom (the Gorlek builder) who's short with a wide mane of white fur, then Tuley (the gardener/mole) holding his recognizable staff. Then Kii (from the Silent Woods) in the middle with the odd loop on the top of his mask. Lupo (the mapmaker) is the small figure that's a bit hard to see, then Motay (chameleon statistician) almost hovering over Lupo. It's a bit unclear but I think the rightmost figure is Orpher (the combat expert) who's rather tall.
I just thought it made that moment of seeing Ori's light spreading all the more striking, knowing their friends are watching.

4:10 I can't help but feel like this moment is not only a moment where they think of Ku and their rest of their family, but of Kuro as well. It was Kuro's sacrifice that allowed Nibel and her last child to live, and Ori once again must make the same sacrifice. It also feels like a silent apology to Kuro for them not being able to protect Ku up until this point, but now, they are going to do the same that she did so that life can continue to prosper.

I dont even know how to explain how I feel, except emotional. The one thing that really hit me was the fact that it seems like ori is gone, but watching over his family until they eventually fade away. Take the ending and soundtrack, and it's the most emotional moment I have ever had with a story.

It's really nice to see that I wasn't the only one that got hit hard by the ending of this game...I finished it days ago and I'm still thinking about it honestly. The one small comfort I guess is that Ori got to keep their memories even after they became a spirit willow, so they can remember their family. I hope that the faces etched into the tree mean that their spirits actually joined with the tree once they died so they can always be together TuT...

A little of a not so fun fact: The original script of the game is to make Ku die, as in Ku never appearing again after the encounter with Shriek instead of critically injured like in the current game. Eventually it was changed because it was too much to the point the playtesters dropped the controller and don't feel like playing anymore due to the extremely heart wrenching gut punch from having seen a child die.

I finished the game earlier on and I'm telling you I never cried so much. No other game or movie has had this sort of emotional impact on me at all, not even close. Even now it's hard to describe the feelings going through me, they're all over the place. I guess this is what happens when you become so emotionally attached and have such a strong adoration for a character. The thought of not seeing Ori again has genuinely left me feeling heartbroken, almost to the point where I'm grieving the loss of someone, crazy I know. Ori came out when my dad died and I guess my love for the character came from that as I looked or turned to the character for comfort during my time of grief. I'm sorry I don't mean to be morbid.
I hope we see more of Ori's World at some point.

I've lost all of my grandparents by now, my mom and dad became more emotional as a result. couple of days ago we were talking about the past. my dad mentioned me about his childhood, important events etc. at some point he mentioned about inheritance of some money from my grandparents and said "it'll be surely useful, we wouldn't enjoy it for long but you'll make a good use of it"
I couldn't say something but I've realized that we were leaving an important period of our lives in our back.
after finishing this game I felt like I was at the end of my life, looking back on my memories..... its really weird how ordinary the things that we work or strive for when you look at from a wide perspective. you could earn so little or so much money or fame. whats important is the people who you spend your time with.

Finished this game and my heart hurts. It’s so bittersweet! And I have a lot to say about it.
I actually wish I was slower on completing this. Took me 5 days, and I reached 15 hours on my save. I never expected that ending as well. I thought Ori was going to pass away because of how weak she was crawling to Seir.(The orange light)When Seir said “It is time, Ori.”, I realized what that meant.
It was time for Ori to carry on with the next generation and become a Spirit Tree. So, it happened. I actually wished it was like this:
Ori is physically there as her Light Spirit form with Seir inside of her and her life is connected to the forest. But hey, I still loved the ending.
As Ori grew strong, her family became old as well. That hurt me as well. But what got me thinking, is that a white leaf came off of Ori’s branch. It might be hinting another game in my opinion. When I realized that Ori was telling her story in this game, I was shocked. If a new game is rumored or confirmed, she’ll most likely narrate it.
But dang, seeing Ori grow up from a white leaf, to a Light Spirit, to a Spirit Tree made me smile and cry. If Ori didn’t fuse with Seir, Ku wouldn’t have been revived and life would die. I will miss seeing Ori in her Light Spirit form.
Also, I actually feel bad for Shriek. As soon as she was born, she looked at the skeletons of her dead parents. She knew that her parents died RIGHT AFTER her birth.
As she tried getting along with other baby owls, their mothers got protective and angrily casted Shriek out. Because of that, Shriek became one with the dark and was blinded by her past. After getting defeated by Ori, she flew back to her dead parents and sat there, closing her eyes.
It’s sad learning about her past and why she’s highly aggressive. She’s a pretty intimidating antagonist to me, but this is the end of my thoughts.
I loved the ending, I’ll miss playing as Ori if a new game is rumored with a new character, and it is a overall masterpiece of a game. Moon Studios did amazing! Time to play this on hard mode!
(Yes, I think Ori is female.)
Another edit: About the gender. I say Ori’s Light Spirit form is female and Ori’s Spirit Tree form is male. But hey, I do call Ori they/them at times as well. I won’t bash you if you think Ori is male, female, or no gender. As long as you respect opinions.

What I find interesting is that the owls of Niwen were clearly shown to all be dead, turned to stone by the decay. Shriek survived this, but was horribly deformed with stone wings. Yet at the exact same time, maybe a few months prior to this game, we have Kuro, the only grown owl shown to be living in Nibel, and her clutch of eggs. No other owls are shown to live in Nibel. I'd find it entirely likely that Kuro fled Niwen to protect her eggs she was soon to lay. Perhaps she even knew about Shriek and depending on their ages, it's possible that Kuro may even have been chased out by the grown Shriek enacting vengeance for her treatment as a chick. Given this and the state of the owls in Niwen, it's entirely possible that with the deaths of Kuro and Shriek, Ku was the last living owl in both Nibel and Niwen.

I wans't happy with this ending. Nor was I disappointed.
    It left me just... empty.
All of them, Naru, Gumo and little Ku, never seeing Ori again is just cruel...
I thought there would be a reunion... That Ori would return in physical form after obtaining the light... But he didn't.
I thought they would reunite... That Ori would come back to them, after his family cared for the tree... But he didn't...
Stll... I thought - and wished - for a reunion... and then they got older. Older and older.... Until they were gone... All of them... Forever.
And then... after many years... a leaf fell from the tree. And with it uncertainty. Would it be a new ghost? Like Ori? Or would it be Ori himself? And if it was Ori how would he return?
Did he forget everything about his former life? About his family? Is he born anew... into a foreign land, without someone caring for him and without a clear purpose? Or would he remember? Remember everything he experienced. Remember his family, Naru, Gumo and his little sister Ku... just to return into a world with no trace of them left. They're nothing but a memory. A memory of one little creature not knowing how long it has been and how much this land changed with the time...
This uncertainty was it that made me cry. The fact that there wouldn't be a sequel. And if there was... it wouldn't be the same anymore... It's over. And I can't think like: They're gone. They all faded. Because they propably didn't. The thought of Ori returning and remembering all that was is stuck inside my head and heart, which is why I can't decide what to think about the ending.
If Shriek, who just wanted to be accepted - nothing more, managed to defeat the darkness within her, throw away her armor and turn into a white phoenix of light, into a protector of all Niwen, to take and protect the light herself. If Ori and his family could have grown old together... And eventually faded together...
If this happened it wouldn't hurt so much...
For one we could be certain of whether Shriek died in her parents arms or if she just went there to feel a little bit of comfort after all this time of suffering...
And on the other hand... I could think: Yes. They're gone. It's over. All of them lived happily. Just like all of us could say that they were happy together after Ori and the Blind Forest we could have said all of them had a happy life... And now they're at a better place...
But not like this... This is what hurts me... The fear of Ori returning... Remembering... But being alone. Again. Without his family...

There was a lot of uncertainty, but then again look at how uncertain Ori started out and where it led. Naru taught Ori how to build a home and a family, and Ori went on to build one for all the wanderers and broken families in the glades. I like to imagine that Ku grew up sleeping in Ori's branches and that even though they don't speak much anymore (not that there was much of that before), they still obviously spent years/decades together while Ori built a world that made thousands of other families like theirs possible. For all we know the leaf/spirit drifted into the glades where it was raised by the whole community, and Ori 1 and 2 were narrated to all the baby Moki and spirits by grandpa Ori.

I think in the cutscenes it’s implied that the ones who protect the light (oris kind) came back with the leaves. The way he narrates the story makes me think he communicates with his family in some type of way. The one thing that felt sad was shrieks ending for me personally.

    • @foxleytheorilover9350
      @foxleytheorilover9350 4 года назад +15

      I feel you.
It stung me bad that Naru and Gumo didn’t see Ori physically throughout the whole game except the ending. Ori became a Spirit Tree to keep the life cycle going. Ku did reunite with Ori, but it lasted short because of Shriek killing her. That was the last time Ku saw Ori in their Light Spirit form...
About what you said about the white leaf coming off Ori’s branch, I don’t think it’s Ori. I say that because Ori’s the narrator of the game and is looking back at their memory of the Will Of The Wisps. I think they’re still a Spirit Tree. But hey, I wish the white leaf could be Ori and have their memories. But I have a strong sense that Ori’s story ended with Will Of The Wisps...
I don’t know. The ending did hurt, but at the same time I liked it. I hope a third game comes out and Ori narrates it again. I mostly worry about Ori dying...
