Nothing wrong with Kenan wanting to go solo but it was pretty dirty of him to not keep in contact with Kel at all.

Agreed. Still, he was pretty young then, and then I would guess a lot of time and awkwardness happened. Still, it seems like Kel was kind of the better man here, not badmouthing Kenan, at least publically, whereas Kenan totally blacklisted Kel. Then again, we don't really know all the stuff going on behind the scenes. Glad to see them colaberating again, though. I swear Kel's Kenan and Kel character sparked my love for orange soda. He hasn't even gone solo, he's been with SNL for over a decade which is conssists a large group of comedians. Keanen's not funny enough to hold a stage on his own, Kel on the other hand, is hilarious.

Kennan didn’t have to kick Kel to the side like that to establish his own career. Adam Sandler never abandoned his friends and helped them rise with him. It’d be beautiful if that happened here

Same thing with Ja Rule in the fast and the furious franchise, he complained 500k was not enough in the first movie and guess what? They replaced his ass with Ludacris , who has since then been in like 8 movies I think, some people refuse to see long term, and only see short term.
I just think that Kel loved his friend Kenan and never saw Kenan's success as his failure. He was going to make it on his own, never badmouthed Kenan and when the time came was able to step up and get his due. You never got to be salty about someone else's success. What God did for them, he can do for you.
I find the idea that you need religion to be humble and a good friend pretty laughable.

I met Kel a couple years back at Stan Lee’s Comic Con in LA, dude was genuinely nice and gracious when I told him he was a big part of my teen years.
I didn't know Keenan was a snake in the grass.. Big ups to Kel for staying strong, finding God, and staying positive through all his troubles.

I wouldn't say that. Don't get me wrong. I see where you're coming from. But speaking from experience I grew up as a twin. We were always best friends but we were always a set. Always lumped together. Rarely considered individuals. We craved our own identities separate from that set. This is very similar. Kenan wants his own identity separate from the duo that is Kenan and Kel. He may not have handled it the best but he never stopped caring about Kel.

@@stephaniereece3573 my point was that when you're constantly referred to as a set and not as individuals that it can take a toll on you mentality. Like Keenan and Kel one was rarely mentioned without the other. The only difference is I had to deal with it from birth so I was able to learn to cope with it. Keenan and Kel had it thrust upon them in their early teens. It's easy enough at first but as time goes on you want to establish your own identity but it's hard when everyone sees you as an inseparable set
I understand wanting your own identity but at the same time, when you have real love for someone you don't neglect them and leave them out for dead

I always felt like Kenan resented Kel because he was liked a little more by the fans, especially the girls. Even as a kid I always noticed how much louder the girls would scream when Kel walked out on stage at the beginning of the Kenan and Kel show .
They only liked Kel more because he was skinny. Back then no one liked chubby guys.

I don’t talk to my childhood into young adult best friends. We drifted apart. No falling out. No fighting. No hurt feelings. I appreciate the time we shared. But there’s not genuine need or desire to hit them up. If I did it would be weird and awkward.

Kenan was self conscious about his looks 💯 He probably felt like he was big and ugly and Kel was skinner and better looking. They both were great I loved this show and will be introducing my 5 year old to it. The 90’s was wayyyyyy better! 😩

I genuinely believe Keenan knew the attention was shifting more to Kel when they were younger, so he made the decision to branch out for his own personal selfish gains. The hard times Kel went through and his best friend was not there for him. The snubs Keenan gave Kel was not right. I hope Kel finds his own success and moves forward.

I’m going to be completely honest. As a LONG time fan of All That and Kenan and Kel - Kel was always the spirited one who made me laugh so hard I couldn’t breathe. Kenan was always kind of commercial, got the job done and was funny…enough. But Kel was the more talented, creative, dynamic, charismatic, funny, and purest of the two. The man has the talent to make you laugh so hard and cry. Because when Kel is acting serious, you feel his soul as he strums your heart strings.
This version of how things went down was sugarcoated. Let’s not get it wrong - Kenan abandoned Kel, and left him for dead. Just like Monique said to Dexter in Good Burger,”You’re not Ed’s friend, you’re just using him to scam a little cash on the side.”
Sadly, that is exactly who Kenan is. He isn’t a good person. You can have your solo career without doing what he did to Kel. Kenan is lucky that he still talks to him, when Kel could’ve easily told him to kick rocks.
Kel has more character, soul and heart than Kenan could ever have. I don’t like Kenan anymore for that reason. Kel might not be here today, and Kenan wasn’t there for him.
Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder maintained a respect even though they both had separate lives. Richard may have badmouthed him while under the influence but the two in the end respected the other.
Kenan bows down to the almighty dollar, Kel bows down to almighty God.
I never knew the full story but I am embarrassed to say I was duped by Kenan all these years. I thought Kenan was such a "nice guy" and maybe Kel just had his issues. The more interviews I watch though, I see how Kenan has this cold calculated way of speaking about how they "both wanted" to go their separate ways. No, Kel needed him there when it mattered most. I see through it now.

Well, as a rule, the straight-man isn't supposed to get the best lines, but they played off each other so well. I did always find Kel funnier, but Kenan has been doing so much for SNL, I'm impressed. I did love Kenan on All That, too. His cooking show, speaking French in the bathtub, and one of my favorites, Baggin' Saggin' Barry. Kenan is definitely a funny person.
If you haven't seen it, there's a skit they did with Kenan on a cooking show, putting chocolate on everything and guest starring the late, and great, Chris Farley, putting ketchup in everything. It's still hilariously funny to me.

I dont believe that when Kenan and Kel were friends on set, Kenan was using him. I believe that, like most celebrities, when people constantly bring up what started their career off, they get annoyed. You have to put yourself in their shoes. It gets annoying when you're only associated with one thing when you're trying so hard to do other things. Imagine you peaked at age 13 with an iconic moment on television, and everything you've ever done wouldn't mean as much to 90% of your fans because you *DID THE THING!!!* years ago. As if your other moments weren't as good or aren't even worth talking about. That's what majority of actors experience because they do something that gets a lot of attention, and all their other work is left in the shadow and majority of their fans don't even know about said work.
I don't fully agree with Kenan, I do think he was a bit less humble than others, but at the same time I can understand why he wanted to be solo. If Nickelodeon wanted more Kenan and Kel, they would've done it. It's not specifically up to the actors and that's what people fail to understand. They bug the actors as if they have the power to just get a set up, and start shooting episodes. Regardless, they didn't do more Kenan and Kel. It's something both Kenan and Kel had to move past. Though nothing is stopping them from still being friends and hanging out which I put Kenan to blame for that. People who'd see them hanging out somewhere and assume another "Kenan and Kel" thing was in the works would just have to deal with the harsh reality that they're just friends and Kenan and Kel(the show) is over. Kenan wouldn't directly be associated with Kel because they can just flat out say "No, it's not coming back and we have no other projects."
I think a lot of people are blowing this out of proportion because they're hurt that part of their childhood was clashing with itself. You have to put yourself in both of their shoes and try to see the others point of view. I just don't think Kenan deserves a lot of the shit hes gotten but a bit of it is well deserved. Only thing that's hard to forgive him for is just not checking up on Kel.
But I'm (hopefully) glad that's all in the past and they've gotten through it instead of hiding it from the cameras just to make a quick buck. I want to see two best friends again, I don't want to see them fake it.
