I think we pick better when we pick 30' to 40's bc we pick for what the team needs in the way of structure not pick who we think the next best talent is we have a team first approach
i went and watched some more isaac kako clips. I will say that I am a little more convinced. He looks to have a good set shot, he's quick on his feet and he does have a little bit of strength to him, which sets him apart from our other small forwards in a number of ways. He played with Caddy for some time, and he has a good bit of courage and ability for marking. His ball use did look passable, which also sets him apart from a large portion of our squad. If we do pick him though, well really need to focus on grabbing some defenders either in the later rounds of the draft or in the midseason draft next year.
@@everythingessendon548 do you know if there is some big bodied midfielders in the draft? We haven’t had someone like that since jobe and if we do end up trading sheil, our only good midfield tagger will be durham and (maybe) caldwell, as merrett is too small and hobbs is unproven. If we do grab harley reid down the line he might fill that role but that could very well not happen.
I think it’s rough Stringer leaving for a late round 3 pick. I understand our frustrations, but we really don’t have any other play in that forward line which brings any X factor unless we bring Martin in as that Mid/Forward something that Perkins needs to eventually evolve into.
Is everyone forgetting you have to kick goals to win games not ramp up your possessions end of year votes! Design a contract for what Stringer wants but with the caveat that he loses money for every dead in front goal he misses. Incentive clause. He kicks 40 plus and we can build a team around that. Nothing wrong with centre players as shown by forward 50 entries. The forwards have to lead and kick goals. As for Shiel he has already said he wants to stay and given the turnaround in form in the second half when he was given the opportunity he showed more than enough.
On paper the forward entries look good but in reality its a lot of hack long kicks to big packs that end up been easily turned over by the opposition. That's why it's a forward-midfield connection issue. It's essentially the exact same problem that has plagued the Demons since their dominant 2021 Premiership and its largely caused by a more defensive, contest oriented gameplan that doesn't favour a whole lot of fast ball movement.
Conor Stone apparently has a 2 year deal on the table @ GWS & he hasn't signed yet ?? obviously waiting for other options ? I think he'd be a good pick up.
Dylan Shiel is still good. I can’t believe after an injury he gets forgotten about, see his last few games before the season ended, he still has a place with us we just give up on players
He is absolutely overrated paying 800+ thousand for a bloke who barely plays and is an afraid of his shadow is mind boggling. He needs to go rather have hobbs or tstatis playing than him
@@everythingessendon548Yes well Zach Merrett takes time away from developing players too. Simply not an argument. Shiel did nothing wrong when he was finally selected this year. You have him in the gun.
As long as the kako bid doesn’t come before our first pick and we get the look at Reid, smilie, Armstrong, tauru, travaglia and especially bo allen who I think has the potential to be one of the better picks in the draft I consider it a good draft, if we can also somehow trade a future second or third to get into the middle part of the draft if someone we like is there this could be a massive tick ✅ for rosa
Have a look at bo Allens highlights afl uploaded yesterday 191cm smooth mover and looks like he has very good iq I honestly think if he’s available select him his going to be an absolute star
don't get some of these comments on Shiel, commend him on getting over he's injury & breaking back into the side, 27 goals in 6 seasons, he's at the end of the road, has to move on, end he's days @ GWS & we can get a pick we need.
if GWS want Sheil and Stringer, then how about: GWS - Shiel, Stringer, pick 31 Essendon pick 21 and 52, 55 or 73? I would like Conor Stone on our list but I think it would compromising our draft capital if we do. we may have to do without him.
Clubs know we need draft capital and we need to offload some players.. Laverde has very little interest. Stringer and Shiel have a little more than that and we don't really have much else to offer.. It's not looking good..
Sheil would have to be worth more now than 12 months ago. Still wouldnt be worth much. A third, 4th and 5th round pick could work. Like 4th and 5th are only good for draft capital and thats what we need
Laverde averages a tick over 20 goals a season while playing primarily in defence, given our poor goal kicking efforts we cannot afford to lose proven goal kickers like Stringer and Laverde! Stringer in particular is a must keep.
Whiles he's good, he ain't a grunt drive legs through & fight the tackle. Luke Parker summed it up with the poo ya yants & cough the ball up when a tackler gets within a metre of him. Merretts similar but quicker, less likely to get caught & efficient with the quick handball/kick
At his best he was that player, unfortunately his body hasn't let him maintain that power and drive over time, it broke down shortly after we picked him up.
I must be the only one who worries about Stringer going. Where are we suddenly going to pick up 40+ goals. Happy for Sheil to go and they could take Weideman, Setterfield and Wright with him.
We didn't seem to be able to find some suitable free agents, so we will not really going to be in contention next year. I guess without him we drop to bottom 4, which will be better than middle of the road. Then hopefully get some decent free agents in next year. Pity cause this year we were much closer to being able to beat anyone in the top 8 than in a long time
if shiel goes that let's tsatas get in the middle
Mick McGuane says he can’t handle the pace. Great in the twos not in the seniors.
@@richardmeaden8061 only way he will get good in seniors is by playing in the seniors

Yep! I like Stone, would definitely get more game time with us.
Sounds like the Giants are leaving no stone unturned when it comes to getting the best outcome or value for Conor..
Get ready for more of those puns if we get the trade done
Makes sense why we played him at he end of the year now, just to boost trade value
Hopefully its bumped it up a bit.
Would it be worth the bombers trading away there future first for two first rounders this year that may fall later in the first round.
If we did it would have to be after Kako is bidded on, otherwise those picks will be wasted to match the bid

He is one of our highest earning players and taking game time away from developing players, handy player but not the type we currently need
Never been great. Outside player who butchered the disposal. If u don’t get the ball yourself u need to be elite by hand and foot and he is not.

I like the idea of improving our 2nd pick, that way we can split it for later 2nd round selections to be able to match a bid easier.
Luke Parker has left Sydney that’s why. Shiel can now walk around Sydney unmolested. 🇦🇺👍🍺
He can sleep easier at night
Question if Isaac gets bid on, can’t we still get him?
Yep! If the bid came before our first selection it means we would have to use that to match it though, ideally we take a seperate player before.

Seems more likely they take Stringer
Hope they also take Lav & a couple of other list cloggers

trade shiel and stringer for leek aleer and conor stone, they're good replacements for laverde and boost our defensive backline
