  • Maps are useful in data collection because they put demographic data into context. It is critical to provide spatial grounding and evidence to data with coordinates using both physical maps and Geographical Information Systems with the assistance of GIS tools. Data Analysts can also use maps to provide visual evidence to support claims, which can then be manipulated into presentation techniques.
In this video, I show how to create a map and then import it to the Kobotoolbox map server for visualization and other purposes.

Thanks for the video. I was wondering whether it is possible to add a WhatsApp Link to your KoboCollect form for data collectors to send pictures because KBC cannot add more pictures.

Hello, I would need to upload a raster, not a vector map. Do you know where I can find guidance? Thank you!

You can create a raster file using QGIS then try to upload it to see if it’s going to work. I will try it. Never thought about it

Hi! and after you upload the shapefile into the kobo server, does it stay there when asking people to place a GPS point? I would like to have some sort of boundaries so people place the points inside of my study area and avoiding outlyers.

No. It will only show in the backend not on everyone’s view. So only you can see it.
