There may never again be a bluegrass band THIS GOOD. Yes, their technical ability, chord progressions, timing, innovative but respectful execution ... it's all there. But what I like best, is the way it makes me FEEL.
I saw this, in Hillsdale NY. Andy Leftwich and Cody Kilby were burning. The whole band was so good. Not long before this they did a live CD with the same set so I had been listening to this for weeks.
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face....
They play this tune so fast it looks robotic at times. Just unbelievably pure, polished and that drive of “get up John!” You can’t help but get goosebumps throughout this entire song. Well done as always fellers..where’s the dang BANJO emoji!! Yee Haw🤘😉
He's unreal. I actually slightly prefer him on the mandolin than fiddle. That's not at all to take away from his fiddle playing. He's just got such an electrifying and lively tone on the mandolin.
@@uberhandle42 He like Ricky Skaggs is an excellent fiddle player. When he transitions to the mandolin, he sneaks in the 4th finger. Traditional mandolin only players usually don't incorporate the 4th finger.
I believe that's Cody Kilby. He's not in Del's band. Del is the guitar player, along with Rob on banjo and Ronnie on mandolin, Jason Carter on fiddle and Alan Bartram on bass.
Didja know 2 of the best banjo players in this band? Jim Mills and Bobby Hicks. Both from N C. Hicks is on fiddle. Love me some double stop fiddle playing. Guitar player playing a Dana Bourgeois guitar. Dana made one for Skaggs. The R S model. Wonder what R S stands for?
Nothing like having 50 gallons of top shelf moonshine in the trunk of a Mopar GTX headed to Dallas Texas & a pretty girl in the front..... Those were the days...!!
That second fiddler sure looked like Ben Shapiro. This concert was done in NY, and Ben is a reknowned violinist. Ben would have been around 19 at the time I think.

Andy Leftwich, the young man sawing 2nd fiddle burns it up‼️ 🎵
(Fun fact: His fiddle burst into flames after this song)
Nothing like having 50 gallons of top shelf moonshine in the trunk of a Mopar GTX headed to Dallas Texas & a pretty girl in the front.....

I love that Cody looks like the guy from blues clues in this clip
Bobby Hicks on the fiddle, gentlemen!!

This comment made me laugh a little bit... the second fiddler is Andy Leftwich
Come to think of it... I’ve never seen Andy and Ben at the same place at the same time.
