The really sad thing for this young girls generation is that they haven’t grown up with the music from these eras esp 50/60s , we ( I’m 70 ) grew up with it ; we were so very very fortunate. Big Love
"I'm loving this sound" is producer Phil Spector's Wall of Sound, arguably the most important record producer of all time, as well as a convicted murderer who died in prison.
This is called blue-eyed soul. These guys were the best. Bobby Hatfield with his beautiful tenor voice & Bill Medley with his deeper voice. They were magic together. And remember this is done live. No auto-tuning crap like today. And the songs had meaningful beautiful lyrics. Other great songs by them is "Unchained Melody", "Soul & Inspiration", "Just Once In My Life", "Ebb Tide", "Rock & Roll Heaven" etc.
She actually reacted to that a couple months ago I believe, despite the fact that she doesn't seem to recall them. Edit - Nevermind, I think this is a reupload becuase I just clicked on her reaction to Unchained Melody which she posted two months ago & in it she says that aafter her reaction to You've Lost That Loving Feeling everyone requested Unchained Melody.
When my high school sweetheart was in Vegas she went with her mother to see the Righteous Brothers in concert. Bill Medley came down off stage, took her by the hand, and took her up onstage to sing a love song to her. I've forgotten what song, but I'm SURE she remembers. Yes. she was that beautiful and to me she still is.
I can pretty much assure you that you have never herd anything comparable to Bobby singing "Unchained Melody". I have been around for a while and I have yet to hear anyone with his range. One other thing to consider, this was performed live as was Unchained Melody.

Edit - Nevermind, I think this is a reupload becuase I just clicked on her reaction to Unchained Melody which she posted two months ago & in it she says that after her reaction to You've Lost That Loving Feeling everyone requested Unchained Melody so you probably know about it already.
Edit: I stand somewhat corrected. Home Free does have a cover of it and Austin hits some of those high notes, but I confused it with their cover of When A Man Loves A Woman. Their Unchained Melody cover splits lead duties, whereas Austin is the sole lead on WAMLAW.
This song was in the movie "Top Gun" and the song 'Unchained Melody' was used in the movie "Ghost". 'UnChained Melody' is a Bobby Hatfield solo song. Other great songs by them are 'Soul And Insperation' from the 60's plus 'Rock N Roll Heaven' from the 70's all are great songs. Please check them out
Bobby & Bill at their best, with just a tidbit of help from Phil Specter and his incredible Wall of Sound orchestration. This was the most played song on American radio of the 20th century; over 8,000,000 plays in just 35 years, blowing away every song played on the radio from the previous 65 years.
Lol. They didn’t ‘blow away’ everybody. They didn’t take over the #1 spot until 1999. Overtaking the Beatles “Yesterday”. Then they lost that most played title in 2019 to The Police “Every Breath You Take”.
@@hollymckenna1432 I’m well aware of that. They only overtook that title in 1999. Then they lost it 20 years later. Didn’t you comprehend what I wrote?
December 1964 I got a transistor radio for Christmas. I tuned to WLS Chicago every night when I went to bed. This is the first song I remember listening to. Perhaps the greatest song ever played on the radio.
I know your comment is from several months ago, but I also listened to WLS and of course, good old CKLW back in those days on a small transistor radio. Almost forgot, WGCL also.
I've always loved this song. You probably know it because its one of the most famous love songs ever. Im 64 and they still give me chills when i hear them sing it.
If you are familiar with the song "I've Had The Time Of My Life" from the film Dirty Dancing, then you are familiar with the voice of Bill Medley - the Righteous Brother with the deep voice. Bill Medley is the male vocalist on that classic song. And BTW, he is still performing here in 2023.
In regard to you hearing this song in a movie, it was sung in the original Maverick movie in a bar scene by all of the pilots, led by Tom Cruise (Maverick). The sound from this song was produced by Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound" which was popular in the 60's. "Soul and Inspiration" is another great song in the Righteous Brothers catalog of great music.
The story goes that when Hatfield and Medley were starting out they were booked in a black club in Southern California. When they walked out on stage the crowd started booing, Medley {the taller one} said "Hey folks, won't you give us a chance?" The crowd calmed down and the boys began to sing. After a couple of songs a young soldier stood and yelled "Brothers You are Rightous!" Thus they became known as "The Rightous Brothers". And you are right Ms. Millie, They really were a class act.
This song was featured in the movies Top Gun and Ghost, if you don't know by now. Surprisingly the song was uncredited in Top Gun though 2 versions were played w/ 1 being TRB in the ending credits and the other sung by Tom Cruise and the gang much earlier.
That was Bill Medley--the "brother" who sang the lead in "You've Lost That Loving Feeling." The official video of Bill and Jennifer Warnes' performance is here: ruclips.net/video/4BQLE_RrTSU/видео.html A better choice is the finale scene from the movie: ruclips.net/video/WpmILPAcRQo/видео.html

You said you loved the sound. That was achieved by Phil Spector and was called "WALL OF SOUND" or "SPECTOR SOUND". Spector was a completlly crazy man who died in prison in 2021 for murdering an unfortunate woman, but he was a producer's producer. To attain the Wall of Sound, Spector's arrangements called for large ensembles (including some instruments not generally used for ensemble playing, strings, woodwind, brass and percussion), with multiple instruments doubling or tripling many of the parts to create a fuller, richer tone and the conglomerate of session musicians later known as "the Wrecking Crew". For example, Spector often duplicated a part played by an acoustic piano with an electric piano and a harpsichord. Mixed well enough, the three instruments would then be indistinguishable to the listener. According to Beach Boys leader Brian Wilson, who used the formula extensively: "In the '40s and '50s, arrangements were considered 'OK here, listen to that French horn' or 'listen to this string section now.' It was all a definite sound. There weren't combinations of sound and, with the advent of Phil Spector, we find sound combinations, which-scientifically speaking-is a brilliant aspect of sound production." That is why there are so many background singers. Phil thought if 4 were good 15 or 20 would be magnificent. Cher was one of the background singers who worked on this piece she is one of them back there.
The really sad thing for this young girls generation is that they haven’t grown up with the music from these eras esp 50/60s , we ( I’m 70 ) grew up with it ; we were so very very fortunate. Big Love

The Movie was Top Gun... the first version, this was in a few scenes but also the closing theme music for the movie.
Righteous Brothers elected to R and R Hall of Fame in 2003 .....A very young Cher was among the back up singers shown toward the end of the video ...
Considering this song has been played more on the radio than any other song in history, it would be on anyone's rock legend list.
