Easily 2-1 Khamzat. Chimaev won the first, Burns won the second, and Chimaev the 3rd. People think Chimaev lost the 3rd but that's false. It was Chimaev who hurt Gilbert a lot in that round, had the more effective shots, and finished the round strong along with octagon control.
@@olegnawrld6484 Yeah. Scariest part about that is Chimaev saw what he needs to work on and will come back better if not stronger. We've seen time and time again of UFC stars later Champions do so well until a fight like this to where they come back better than ever.
@@Austin123. based on the post fight interviews Khamzat threw away the game plan and went for the KO. I agree if he can learn from this and improve I have no doubt he could challenge for the title
@@olegnawrld6484 Yeah, he stated that he is gonna focus more on gameplan and remain discipline from now on. He didn't like that his coaches were yelling at him and being disappointed that he wasn't doing it. That's why he came back better in the 3rd because he stuck with his jab and came in when he needed to along with not overshooting his shots. Still thinks he beats Colby & Usman to be honest. Most of these wrestlers do have issues with great high-level jiu-jitsu guys at times. Plus Burns probably has the biggest power in the 170lb division so.. either way good win.
@@Austin123. The amount of skills he already possesses at a young age and 11 fights into his MMA career I think it would be tough to convince people that Khamzat wont win a title in the future. He needs more polishing and needs to listen to his coaches more like he himself said and he will do even better. I wonder if Khamzat will be as likely to forego his wrestling against someone like Colby as opposed to Burns.
U said it perfectly! It's the hype that made him look bad but if u forget the hype then the number 11 ranked guy just went into war with number 2 ranked 🤷♂️

@@FelipeOliveira-jn5ub very good close fight, the decision could have went either way. Should have been 5 round fight. I gave rounds 1/3 to Khamzat, the 3rd was very close but i think Khamzat looked like he controlled the cage most of the fight. Was so close you gotta go down to little details like that. I think all fights should be 5 rounds, some fighters are better the longer the fight goes on.
Ya man watching it live it was hard to score. We just watch tho we don't actively try and score fights. Just saying how we were feeling. I agree the right person won
I love your guys’ honest thoughts but here’s my humble opinion.. Khamzat with only 4 fights in the UFC went to war and won against a 24 fight veteran. That’s exactly what every true fight fan wanted to see. We all know Khamzat is better than your bottom guys by far. We saw that. We all know Khamzat is better than your rank 20ish opponents by a country mile.. but we had no idea if he can slug it out with a fighter in the top 10 let alone 5 let alone # fucking 2. And WIN! He is exactly as good as we thought he was. This man fought like an inexperienced prodigy fueled by sheer will power, against a elite fucking killer in Gilbert. And the best part is Gilbert is a balanced fighter. Good in all aspects of the game. He basically gave khamzat his right of passage into the “Elite” part of the division. Sorry long post here’s a 🥔
Haha nah we appreciate the discussion. Idk how many other younger welterweights could've put up as tough of a fight against Burns. If nobody hyped up Khamzat before this fight and ppl had zero expectations then ppl would be praising Khamzat. It was such a good indication of where both fighters are right now
@@olegnawrld6484 u’r right that people have these hype trains and build these unrealistic expectations of fighters.. but let’s be honest.. this was as close to an anime fight as it gets 💪🏼😂 Chimaev the prodigy being given his right of passage into the “elite” of the division by a seasoned veteran who is also an extremely well rounder fighter. We won. As fight fans we won.
Great fight for both guys. As for the gas tank... this was a way more intense fight than most. Both guys took countless shots, almost got knocked out several times, and that takes a huge toll on anyone. My bet is, in a more technical fight, one that's less of a brawl, Khamzat could go 5 rounds no problem. Also, Gilbert was just as tired, and I'm quite sure nobody doubts his gas tank.
Impressive showing for Gilbert against an absolute monster on the rise, Khamzat fell in love with his hands too much here and decided to play with fire instead of using his bread and butter (grappling) so not his best performance but I'm glad Burns was able to kind of show some holes in Khamzats game, this close W will make Borz much better in the future. Also yeah Burns is lowkey kind of a dirty fighter when he gets desperate, this isn't his first time going for sus back of the head shots. Still like the guy though, he's a warrior for sure.
Hahaha I have noticed that he tends to go berserk whenever he smells blood and just throws all his limbs like a maniac. Khamzat even said himself he should've listened to his coaches more.
Khamzat vs Colby should happen next, i think Usman is still recovering from surgery on his hand. Leon wants his title shot still LOL. And Luque is fighting Belal, thats the top 5 right there. So either its Khamzat vs Colby or Leon.
@@milesb2111 Looks like Leon is going to be fighting Kamaru in June/July. Not offical yet tho. Khamzat just might have tot fight colby in the mean time
Gilbert was poised to have a performance of his life... His reputation was on the line potentially losing to a rookie..... Imagine facing a kid in a lower grade than u, and everyone you know is saying u will lose to that kid... U will definitely up your game.... Gilbert was looking in the face of potential embarrassment .. Which is less pressure than losing to usman.... On the other hand, Khamzat made a mistake.... Needed to be more strategic and use more wrestling....
From start u guys are actin biased, gilbert never took chimaev down or even controlled the fight , khamzat walked him down from start to finish , Burns got round 2 sure but 1 and 3 was 100% Chimaevs.
Honestly, I'm on the chimaev hype train even more now ( but i expect usman to beat him after this performance, since even burns rocked usman), and to me chimaev won the 3rd round clearly imo, but if somehow they had given it to burns I would've completely understood, close ass fight. Now khamzat knows the top 5 I'snt where you should underestimate someone. Cause there's a reason they're in the top 5, it's a completely different story, but chimaev needed this ya know? But I respect anyone's opinion whether they thought burns won or chimaev
Even though chimaev stated that he abandoned his gameplan cause he was obsessed with knocking out burns, which explains his coach losing his shit when the 2nd round ended
@@olegnawrld6484 fr brother. Alot of people think chimaev got "exposed" but really, the only thing that gilbert exposed imo, was that chimaev has a really good chin and alot of heart.
