Would never have dreamed of shaving a neck down. This repair will be awesome. Good stuff, Dave.
Fender at one point released Precisions with necks that are closer to Jazz Bass size, so it is not necessarily shaved down.
Stu Cook of Creedence talked in 1972 about how he shaved down his 60s P-bass necks. He put on bees' wax instead of poly or nitro refinish.
Might be a “Hybrid” Precision with a Jazz neck ( check serial number) I had one in 1979.
This isn't meant to be a challenge but Fender did release Precisions with "A" "B" and "C"necks in this time period. The "A" neck was Jazz width so there is a chance this is factory. If there are other factors like rough edges or janky finish then that's the bong loaded aftermath of a mod. Always love the videos Dave!

I bought a 1971 pbass new and rosewood neck. I have had it serviced once a year. It is a 1 and 11/16 neck. She's been played and has been used for all kinds of music.
