Aw Dave. I'm so much like you. Same age, same former ambitions. It's weird. We don't even admit to ourselves how old we're getting, but I think we're both feeling it. I'm with you, my brother from a Canadian mother, amen.😊
@@TSB-pg6yoIt's the mechanical and chemical processes Dave has developed: wood, with truss rod, must be finicky. Will it work or not? It's cool as hell. Lots to learn.
Somebody had to wreck that neck. I've never seen a bad Lakland bass. I'm wondering if the bass was kept in a high humidity environment with high string tension.
I have 2 Ibanez sr885 5 string basses, a 2000, and a 2002., the 2000 I bought new, and it still plays well, the 02 I bought used and the electronics are shot., there’s about 4 miles of wire, and more components than the space shuttle in there., I want to go passive on both of them, starting with the ‘02, I really need to get on that project.
There’s a RUclips tutorial out there on how to delete the active circuit on SR basses. If I remember correctly, you just unplug a harness and bridge 2 terminals with a piece of wire. At least on my SR300, the pickups are passive, just the tone circuit is active.
to be honest id not know what to do with a 5 string bass but obviously this guitar was not kept adjusted and it just went to pot sort a speaking so heat press again. daves an expert heat press guru!! wins everytime. my only question is when you heat press a neck, does it ever go back to screwed up again>>
In a world which seems to have gone mad, always happy to see a new video from Dave!
Why would someone spend that much for a Lakland bass and then just let it go to crap? Luckily, we have Dave and his magical abilities to rescue it.
Thankfully it’s not a USA Lakland though :-) they’re much more money !
Sounds about right old guy in his basement twisting his nobs lol.
Bless you, Dave; That's pretty much exactly the way I react when I open up something like that. Hopefully another De-oxIT miracle.

nice treat, cool bass. Your videos are up there with Uncle Doug's. Thanks for doing them.
Thanks for watching!
I have this exact same issue on my Skyline. Maybe one day I'll rig it up and set it outside (in a box) on nice 98F day.
"Leather is your friend" - for confirmation, see Rob Halford!
I've said it a few times: the heat press videos are fascinating. Great stuff, Dave.
What's so "fascinating" about it?
More to come!

@@fractaljack210 Yes, you learn that when you plug it in, it gets hot. Do you also find your oven to be "fascinating?"
Cheers Dave, 👍🏻🍺
You bet

It wasn't.
You can actually see the bow from the video without the straightedge!
Yep
My Lakland, same model and age had almost the same problem 🤔
Another cool shirt, Dave! Thank you for continuing to educate us amateurs 😉
Dave doesn't seem to get a lot of Lakies across his bench- I wonder why? 🤔

Great video David, you are the man!!!😊
Thanks! 🙂🎻✌️😎
The Kats? I'm sure that you meant The Cats with their famous song " One Way Wind." 😉

Doctor David. The patient’s sap pressure is dropping. Will it make it? 🎸

What are those huge speakers you have in the background Dave?

it either works or it don't..you see right away not later on
@@DavesWorldofFunStuff thanks dave that answers my big question
This bass looks familiar. Is it its first time on your bench??
Two more clamps?
Old man fear of electricals. Just take the battery out, problem fixed.
I'm guessing that sat in a hot car for a long time.
It didn't.
@@TSB-pg6yo are you the owner of the bass?
@@Bigboybooya666 Yes. I purchased it from Dick Nasty, the original owner.
@@TSB-pg6yo but the original owner could have left the bass out in terrible conditions
