      Not important to watch the whole video. Ranking of videos is highly correlated to total watch time. So, if people watch 20 minutes of 1 hour video that is gonna be considered more beneficial for that channel compared to when somebody watches an entire 10 minute video and then doesn't click to any other videos of the same channel.

    Fantastic review! The only common issue I know (happened to me and many others) is that the preamps start clean but get noisy and sound bad after a few months. I hope they fixed that with the gen 3! Also, have they fixed the drivers on windows? They used to make windows machines crash like crazy but work well on Mac in my experience.

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  5 лет назад +95

      I have heard people complain about the drivers and I’ve heard them in discord voice chats, but I have never been able to recreate them on my end. They are releasing new drivers, and also I hope they’ve resolved that issue with the preamps going bad after a few months. This is the first I’ve actually heard about that issue.

      Good to know, it might be quite different compared to the Arch world (i.e. AUR/Arch repos) but what driver (if any) did you install?

    • @willmorrison1022
      @willmorrison1022 4 года назад +1

      @@MaximilianBerkmann No driver was necessary. Both ALSA and Jack see it straight out of the box. In Qjackctl setup, look under the "advanced" tab where it shows input and output hardware, you will find it in there, listed by port and name. Once chosen, it comes up on the display as "HW:USB", I believe.
      No idea about arch, I have been using Linux since 1990 but haven't got the balls to try it yet. This does, though, work in both Ubuntu Studio and AVL Linux.

      After weeks of messing around, I found that I couldn't consistently get useable audio out of this interface into my Windows 10 laptop (which has only USB3 ports). I experienced some sort of buffering issue that resulted in digital crackle. l could sometimes adjust the buffering to get it to work without digital crackle, but a specific buffer size didn't consistently work. I now have a different interface that works just fine. I suspect that Focusrite still has Windows driver issues.

      @TriWaZe 5 лет назад +4

      Rybellious Welcome to technology. You can wait until the cows come home for the best time to buy one and then finally just give in and bam they release a new one. It really sucks. I tripped over my first gen after just a few weeks of using it and ended up buying a gen 2 cause they wanted like 40 bucks to repair it. There was a decent asthetic improvement that I appreciated but the features didnt improve much. Now im seeing this and part of me wants it because it looks even more premium but mostly for that air setting. But im not wasting any more money when this one works just fine.

    • @Andrey.Balandin
      @Andrey.Balandin 5 лет назад +5

      I had my 2i2 2nd Gen since last year, and I'm pretty happy and not looking forward to upgrading. The Air preamp circuit and stereo monitoring don't do anything for me. What would really have made me crave upgrading is internal audio loopback, but unfortunately Focusrong reserved this feature to more expensive models only... I would have loved to have the simplicity to record samples from youtube and Google Play Music straight into DAW for slowing down, transcribing and learning by ear. I would have loved to process the mic sound in my daw live and send it to a voice chat. But no, I can't. So, DAMMIT, I second your 'DAMMIT'! (but for a totally different reason).

    So.... what's the deal with this resurgence of the Shure SM-7B? I had one of those like 25 years ago. While impressive looking, I found it sounds about the the same as the SM-58, which is $350 cheaper. Now, I only do voiceovers so once I got into the world of studio condensers like the AKG-414, the Senn-416 and the Neumans, I ditched all those dynamic mics. Now those SM-7's are starting to show up in studios again. Is this some sort of Hip-Hop thing? Not gettin' it.

      Scarletts are on the low end product range as they aren't even in the same class as Audient interfaces. Should be comparing Apple's to Apples. The USB Clarlett line and even the older Forte interfaces are in the same class that are more high end that competes directly with the Apogee Duet 2, Audient, Babyface Pro etc.
