You're a 100% correct. And that really goes for any elevation. I am "just" a hiker who has been on somewhat big hikes and downhill is always most treacherous

Abruzzi an Italian had climbed K2 in 1954.In 1990s a delegation of Abruzzi team came to Shigar to celebrate Golden Jubilee of k2.They decided to built a school in shigar for the children of Shigar which name is Abruzzi located in Sainkhor markunja Shigar.I studied 6 years of my life in that school from five standard to ten standard. Thank you The Italians.❤️❤️❤️

K2 and 3 other 8000 ranges mountains are in Shigar Pakistan.I belong to this beautiful valley Shigar.I never went at k2 base camp but one day I will definitely go there (Inshallah).I love these hardworking porters of Shigar who carry more than 35 kg weight from Askoli to K2 base camp more than 90 km to make both end meet.. I love K2 ,Gharashabrum 1,grashabum2 ,grashabrum 3 ,4 and broadpeak and all the hardworking porters. ❤️
So much love from Canada to the brave and hardworking porters, who never get the respect or money that they deserve. They need to charge 10 times as much, or more. Love to them all! ❤❤❤

I attempted K2 alone in 2014, weather conditions were perfect but I returned from house's chimney just below the camp II as I was scared to go further🤣🤣 anyways I took 3 brothers from Askole to Concordia and eldest one was Hassan Jan he had seven children on my return I went his home and saw poverty and climate challenges he and his whole family was dealing with. I always wished I was able to help him more than I could. He is such a true soul God bless you Hassan bhai you truly are a legendary character.

Amazing to see Kurt Diemberger, him and Hermann Buhl are the only two men who made the first ascent of two 8000ers. They are both from Austria. Kurt Diemberger survived the 1986 K2 disaster and is still alive, he was 89 at the time of this writing.
Still not the most famous Austrian the world knows who also used to love spending time on a mountain.
Another odd one.. Japan of all places has some of the best mountaineers around. Their teams summit first and in awful conditions. They are shy and don’t interact with other teams so don’t get as much credit but damn.. Japan loves climbing and they are damn good at it.
Ive seen Everest and K-2 docs all week and more. This one gave the feeling of the struggle involved very well. I find myself taking deep breaths throughout.

K2 looks beautiful and yet terrifying at the same time.
40.14 gives a clear view of the notorious serac and the traverse that climbers are forced to take. That's most likely is the crux section of K2.

Rita Pocino there are some montains much harder than everest, k2, nanga parbat and annapurna are some of them.
Everest isn’t as hard as it used to be. Sherpas do the carrying for people. People who have never climbed a mountain before are reaching the summit. Even groups of kids. You don’t need to have any ropes knowledge, no knowledge of real alpinism, no skill. You just need the money for the permit, the equipment/food and the expedition company package...

We hear so much negativity when Pakistan is in the news. I’ve just watched an upload from a Nanga Parbat climb and an Italian female with Serge Minote and Ali Sadpara who died not long ago. She said what I just wrote and then said how wonderful the people are. The media has so much to answer for. Like glorifying gangster behaviour which has turned out so many kids onto a bad journey.

No, you’re not a wuss. You apparently have a strong sense of survival which tells you that they’re engaged in extremely risky behavior that if they don’t abandon will eventually lead to their demise. Most of the documentaries on K2 and Everest that are over five years old feature guys and gals who are now dead from their addiction to danger.

When you successfully climb up, the views are stunning and the joy and the pride deep inside your heart rises far beyond the height of the peak. You truly feel the life lived on steep cliff, and a cold wave run through your spine, you enjoy the sunshine and return to your home country with an inspiration to other adrenalines, enchanting memories and continuous strength. You become the symbol of courage who has gone through it all.
Everyone should backpack, and come to Islamabad to venture on the journey of life.

Skied last 35 years in a lot of different places and I've actually never seen an avalanche in person. Watching alpine climbing vids though I see them often, would not be fun! Going to take a vacation this year and go to do some hiking, should be fun! Stay safe out there! That serac is ridiculous. Could NOT do it! 😂
I live in avalanche area. Skiing at Grand Targhee is awesome powder skiing. Now I just stay on the slopes of the ski area because I'm not as young as I use to be and have gotten wiser. The highway going to Targhee is scary enough.
Hey, Reason! So I’m getting back into climbing after being away for about 15yrs. I used to do a lot of both technical and alpine climbing. I wouldn’t call my previous summits HIGH altitude, whatsoever: Rainier, Whitney, Denali. And despite all those being above 3mi above sea level and glaciated, I never experienced an avalanche. Now, I’ve been in crevasses! They’re gorgeous!!!! And bottomless!!!! But that was just training - not being ‘swallowed’ by a monster you didn’t see-THAT would be scary!!! But yeah, the mountains I’ve climbed were extremely easy and my vo2max and cardio are very similar to my 20s… just need adequate acclimatization for the REALLY big ones

People who are suggesting that Annapurna is more deadlier than K2 should know that K2 is one single mountain and Annapurna is a 55 KM long Massif that includes one peak over 8000 meters, thirteen peaks over 7000 meters and 16 peaks over 6000 Meters. It's unfair to K2 to compare it with a range of mountains and the total fatalities that occurred on it. Real mountaineers and climbers always consider K2 to be the real prize.

This year most of the initial summit attempts failed due to heavy snow above camp 4, but then there was a great weather window during which most of the teams summited. One team by mingma summited broadpead and g2 after coming back from k2 camp 4 within a single weak, that was impressive to witness. A good year overall

What year was this expedition? ... there were no summits on K2 in 2009 & 2010...K2 is the toughest and most difficult mountain, but acts as a magnet for hardcore skilled mountaineers... good job on summiting and most of all, great job on coming back alive! RIP for the two climbers that didn't make down.

@Zoë Lkjsdhf correction. Annapurna ONE kills the highest percentage of climbers who attempt it. There are five Annapurna peaks and you _have_ to specify the correct one.
Watching this, I can understand why so many people say that Everest is commercialized (not that it really trivializes the hike) - no support, camps aren't already set up and waiting for them, not even flags or markers to show where previous climbers managed to set up camp.

It is difficult than Everest. So is Nanga Parvat, Annapurna. These peaks are for technical climbers and not for someone who has money and goes to Everest to prove a point. These peaks are beautiful and great and only allows the great ones to climb. The most dangerous mountain is the mountain of Ego. Evryone has one but noone wants to climb it. 😁

I believe many people, some wealthy and after success financially, find themselves unchallenged or spiritually hungry. Mountain climbing is a sport with as much ego per participant than any other. Possibly more. No doubt many yearn for the glory and IG photo from a summit.
It's a shame that many attempt it without the prerequisite experience and are maimed or killed because of it.
They don't even know enough to question their guides when there may be more risk than they're prepared for.

Truer words ever said. I grew up in northern Quebec, Ste Agathe. 40 below at night with single pain windows and landlord would not turn heat past 68 which felt more like 62. We wore lots of layers and going to school in January/feb was a trip !

The odds of arresting a fall into a crevasse deep enough to kill by having the trailing partner pulled into very shallow crevasse are almost astronomical. Crazy. As if there weren’t enough other ways that mountain could kill ya... When it does to this kind of mountain climbing, I’m definitely an “I’ll catch the movie” type of guy. Ridiculous.
I really hate the over dramatic narrating in most American documentaries, its like they don't think people will be interested if they don't add this obnoxious ingredient, bad ass climbers thou.
the narration emphasises the dangers otherwise if you just let these climbers talk they just make it seem like a stroll in the park, "oh a crevice opened up, we're alive, cool, lets go"

I remember Pakistan Army garding on sciachin glacier border between India and Pakistan. They have to stay there to protect Pakistan territories where greedy wolf indian army trying to enter claiming Pakistani land. if climbing a mountain was fun and safe, everyone would do it. The feeling you get when reaching the top is probably insane, despite the fact you are exhausted. But not many people can say, hey i climbed mount everest, or k2. Thats what makes it exciting
Many say they have an empty feeling after the Everest descent. Not so with K2.

That's the problem. None of these rich, arrogant, self-important, annoying fucks would climb it without these Sherpas risking their lives because they need the money. If it was just these dipshits risking their boring, empty lives I'd be ok with it, but when these poor Sherpas die, I have big issues with it.
