Tired of waiting, I visited the GS Boutique in Sydney and was immediately converted. I picked up my Snowflake earlier this year and now I am converted to GS (the SBGW231 was also high on my list). I'm thinking about my second GS now and this one looks fantastic! - keep up the great work.

But oneself you pull, it comes back together and locks. Very challenging lol. In short, Grand Seiko needs to work on their closure systems 🤣😂

There are a ton of overlooked grand Seiko's. My personal favorite: The Kanro SBGE271. Lion's mane dial. GMT. 100 meter water resistance despite being in their "elegance" collection. Spring drive. Goldy locks 40mm diameter.
My biggest complaint about GS is that they are usually too large and too thick for my tastes. That SBGW231 is the one exception though and I really want one, even though I really do not need a dress watch in my life
The new movements they introduced this year are slimmer and even better now. They listen to the watch community. They also made changes to the bracelets and clasps. They make those changes slowly but they are doing them. I really like that about GS!

The other difference of the SBGH267 Whirlpool is that it has the blue titanium rotor with tungsten pins. And no lion covering the movement. Nice collection though, and that looks like a great purchase.
Good choise, I have the SBGE201 and the SBGR307 both are the same as the two watches in this video but not limited edition, by the way I hate limited editions and discontinued watches because they reduce the enjoyment of using the them. I'm using that BIG SBGR307 on a tropic rubber strap, this is how I've got over the very big dial and gave it a very sportish look.

Seriously considered getting a cookie before deciding I wanted a newer movement. If they would pull that design back out and make a forest green or earthy red with the 9SA5 or 9RA2 inside , they couldn't take my money fast enough.
I remember I was contemplating for a long time to get the Grand Seiko diver (SBGA229 or SBGA029). You can certainly get them for way less than retail in the gray market but it was still out of my price range. I instead ended up with the limited edition green dial Seiko MM300 that released recently (SBDX043). No spring drive but the movement is still great and the watch still has Zaratsu polishing. Similarly to your SBGE245, they seem chunky on paper but don't feel chunky on the wrist.
A lot of the dive watches that Marc at Long Island Watch makes have sapphire bezel inserts (I own one and it's fullllly lumed). For $299 ish and tons of models to choose from, it makes the perfect beater or work watch for me.

Sadly over here in Europe GS still does not have the same standing as it does in the US or Japan. Great video. I definitely respect the brand, but nothing grabs me. The pink one is up there, I love the cherry blossom Japanese theme, and would have to put it on a grey, black, navy, brown leather strap. The GS nonadjusting bracelets and thickness are a struggle at these pricepoints. I find it unacceptable at this level tbqh. The brand stamping on an exhibition caseback is another head scratcher. They are purty hockey pucks though. I just love that pink dial, subtle, unique.

The pink watch is fairly thin (the sapphire crystal is big!). GS also does a good job with case design so even when the spec sheet seems thick, it feels thinner in person. But sometimes if it’s thick it’s thick…hard to hide lol.

GS is getting more popular. I had a hard time tracking down a SBGA413. It’s technically a dress watch but I can wear this watch w/ almsot anything and it really flys under the radar. The sweeping second hand makes it hard to wear another watch.
I love the manual wind 1 437 minutes too small for me also when it comes to the thousands like 7000 things like that I don't ever think a spring Drive watch is worth it because I don't believe in any kind of quartz technology on modern technology commanding that type of price because that will always change and be improved on a daily basis it not monthly or yearly basis mechanical the only one I think commands that type of price
I don’t think grand seiko will be serviceable 20 years later. Unlike Swiss brands, they do not stock sufficient parts for servicing. Sadly, that is why I am not buying another one.

You should check out the new Seiko Astron range of sub 40mm watches. The design of the titanium pair are particularly interesting.
