    Reviewing older videos. Kudos James on feedback of the i500. Looking at it vs. P790 and T200. Tough decision. Looks good and blends well at the long iron end with Blueprints! Ping may be on a roll!

    Excellent idea, James, to present a manufacturers range in one video, one club against the other! I hope you will keep doing this format into the 2019 season. I am about to get a new set of irons and am inclined to try out the i210, although I also keep hearing/seeing good things about the Mizuno 919 Forged... Cheers

    Great review James. I’ve had the G400s since they was launched. I really like them and they are long and forgiving especially the 5 iron which is my longest iron. Im not completely comfortable with the PW and 9 iron as I find them clunky compared to my 50, 54; 58 Cleveland rtx wedges. By clunky I mean just not as accurate / consistent and more difficult to hit from tight lies on burnt fairways, perhaps it’s the wider sole.
    They are played by a wide spectrum of player at my golf club, from low single figures to 20 plus handicaps.

    You just helped me make up my mind on the G 400 $699.00 compared to the G 700 $1049.00 which is being touted as a better club hence higher price. But what I saw on your video and what I experienced when I hit the demo from both clubs leads me to believe I’m going to save several hundred dollars so thank you!

    Pretty much confirms my prior opinion that the best irons in the Ping range are i210 and I500, but a someone who needs more help might choose the G400.

    Fantastic review on the ping range of irons,I would possibly choose the iblade over the others mainly because of the spin numbers,
    I would definitely get fitted and possibly mix and match. Well done with the review 👏👏

    Just ordered the iBlades. 4-9 iron. The 210s felt good but the iBlades just look and feel so much better to me. I have played Titesit MBs and the CBs my entire competitive life so its hard for me to look down on the 210s. Ping makes awesome clubs though, so easy switch!

    Great comparison video. Assuming a person has a decent swing, seems there’s not much difference between all the clubs other than aesthetics, sound & price. Based on those factors, I’d go with the i210 over i500.

  • @Caddiesense
    @Caddiesense 6 лет назад

    Interesting comparisons and nice video. A couple of things to note -- there's no way a 7 iron is spinning 11,000 rpms like on your iBlade hit. That is a misreading. There is also no way you are swinging one of the i500 swings (may have veen to G400s) at 92 mph with the others in that mix going 82 to 84 mph. That would be a statisical outlier and another monitor misreading. Still, thank you for showing the full range of Ping products. Thumbs up on the video.

    I just got back a hour ago from Golf Galaxy I stopped to see if they had the new Pings in being left handed I thought I could at least see a right handed one. But they had all the lefty demo heads in and I tried the i210, G700, i500, and P790’s for me as a 12 handicap the G700 felt the best the i210 and i500’s were about the same still pretty good and the p790’s last. I will try the G400’s and definitely will hit them all outside for my final choice and fitting good height spin 5500 163 carry.

    I currently gaming the Callaway x24 Hot irons, cast irons. I think it's about 10 or so years old. I really want to upgrade them, I want to go for a forged irons this time. But the prices on irons are crazy high! About a couple of weeks ago I went for a fitting and tested out p790, p760, and ap2. Honestly they all feels nice. The taylotmade p760 irons gave me the best results. Those feels ssssooooo good and soft. What you think of those irons p760? Should I upgrade it? I should test out your irons jpx 919 tour.
    Love your videos James!

    Huge fan of your channel man! As an 11 capper I’m torn between i210 and i500, I could use the help on the i500s a bit more but I’m afraid of the low spin numbers wont be holding greens as much as i210s! What do you think man? Keep vids coming!

    I think a high handicap player could benefit from the i500’s , I know it’s a bit smaller than the g7’s, but it bugs me when better players push people away from clubs it’s a little egotistical, like the p 790’s the i500 is a great club that will work for both ends of the spectrum, isn’t that as golfers what we want a club you can use from 20 handicap all the way to scratch ? Don’t take it the wrong way I don’t get a egotistical vibe from you at all , and I really enjoy you videos ,just see hear this comment a lot , keep up the good work James.

    I have tested the i500, was a lovely club, just too long for me. have just ordered a set of i210, what a golf club. for an iron that is not forged it feels so soft, and the ball flight is incredible. tested it against the new mizunnos jpx 919 and the ping just had it, and are cheaper!!

    I think I would play the i210 (was tempted by the i200 already)... But I don't need to change my irons and still prefer cheaper and forged. My next set of irons could be either Hogan PTx or even more likely some Maltby DBM... Or something else but 7 iron in the 33-35° range, good feeling off the face (forged most likely) and a bit of forgiveness...

    I love my G400s, the distance thing with the strong lofts is borderline out of hand, I think. I just want to hit the ball straight and the feel is slightly effortless. Easy swinging and easier on an older body.

    Very good review. Have had G400s for 4 weeks and after 2 visits to Gainsborough, am about to collect my 2nd new set and 3rd if you include a complete re-shaft on 1st set. If I could go back one month I would definitely not buy these clubs. Hard and tinny was how you described the G700, well, for me, that's a perfect description of the 400s. Can't believe they're the same clubs I tested at Gainsborough. So many things wrong through the whole fitting/assembly process. Very disappointed in what I thought was a quality product from a highly regarded Company.

      I was fitted with G400 irons with XP 95 shafts 7 months ago. I have played over 30 rounds and all I can say with the right shaft they are incredible. I bought the new AP1 last fall and I hated them. I play off a 9 index and I have found the G400 to be almost point and shoot.

    • @monotts5218
      @monotts5218 6 лет назад +1

      James, I don't call it unlucky when among the "unlucky" events were, U Wedge came shorter than S Wedge, even after a re-shaft. This resulted in my Pro pointing out to Ping that, despite the original specs being 0.5" short of standard, the Clubs had been assembled and delivered with standard length shafts. As a result of the 2nd Fitting, the lie on 4 Clubs were altered by the Fitter from black to red dot. My Pro was later told by Ping that they had no record of any such alteration. There's more but I need to get on with my life and thanks to Ping, sadly golf is way, way, down on the list of things that I do for pleasure.

    Currently gaming S55s and I think the I500s will be my next set. Something that is a little forgiving but still allows you to work the ball when you need to I'm confused why ping has 3 players irons on the market with the i500s, i210s and I blades.

    It’s crazy that the G-700 is pings most forgiving super game-improvement iron, because it really has the looks of more a players iron. I mean it’s the G-400 that is the cavity back but it’s actually not considered to be as big of a game improvement iron as the 700 is, though the 400 is still game-improvement. Back to the G-700, I know they have quite a lot of offset and have large heads but still man, despite this they still look good to me. The biggest thing to my eye is that they don’t have the big cavity back. That’s crazy to me that ping has this iron that’s classed as SUPER GAME-IMPROVEMENT and it’s not even a cavity back!! Now to be able to get all this forgiveness and other helping features without being a cavity back, they gave the G-700 a hollow head design. So basically they look like a bladed iron, but unlike a real blade, on the G-700 the whole head is hollow. But anyway I just feel this was a great move by ping. Getting this iron out there to high handicappers so that if they want it they can have a great iron giving them tons of help but without it looking like some big giant alien ship on the end of a shaft with huge cavities and what not. I know it is larger than your players irons and all of that and has quite a lot of offset, which is pretty standard in game-improvement irons but it still has that somewhat bladed look which will appeal to so many folks. If I was gaming irons in this super game-improvement category, I would be ALL OVER THESE IRONS.!! Simply because they look so nice and more like players irons and less like what they actually are lol. Basically they are blades for all of us “hackers” out there! Lol 😂 The “true hacker’s blade!!” Hahaha and I do apologize because it would very much appear, through all of this rambling I have done, as though I have essentially authored a brand gratifying 500 page non-fiction book!! Lol So for that I do apologize, and to ANY of you out there who still finds yourself reading this at this point, I just have to say a few things... 1:) I’m so sorry for putting you through this!🤣 2:)Thank you for listening to the many ramblings of my crazy mind🤪3:) and finally, I mean seriously guys, you need to just get it together and get a life!! If you are still reading this then you have entirely too much time on your hands and obviously don’t have anything better to do in your life right now!! Lol Just kidding. 😜👊✌️🖐

    Is workability much different with the i210 compared to the iblade? I tried the i500 the other day and I really didn't like the feel but I love the feel of my iblades. Trajectory seems good for me, not too high but definately stops on the green, but as u showed, hit a couple of bad shots and it can mess up your whole score.

    I bought the g700’s a week before the i500s came out. I typically shoot around 90, I have a fast swing, Ican hit the ball far and play 10 times per year. I like how the g700’s feel but my previous set was 1986ish Ping Eye 2’s so of course they feel great. Is it worth passing my g700’s along to my dad who can use a set and buying the i500’s or am I not really going to notice a major difference? Will it be more forgiving than the others - I want forgiving and soft feel. Thx.

      I'm in the same boat. I'm also a mid 90s shooter, and am playing with hand-me-down karsten Ping Zings (older than eye 2s). They dig like a cat excavator. After feeling like my wrists snap a few times, I get scared of getting under the ball and top them the rest of the day. Recently played a friends g30. Night and day difference. The bounce doesnt allow me to dig.
      Went to gold galaxy, believe it or not the g700 was going a few yards further than the i500. Equally forgiving. And slightly faster club head speed. Though I favor the appeal of the i500, the smaller size might not inspire much confidence in poor lies. I'm still very much on the fence between the two... wondering which is the right purchase for me. Luckily, I live 15 miles from the Ping manufacturer and may schedule a fitting with them directly.

    I have tested the i500, was a lovely club, just too long for me. have just ordered a set of i210, what a golf club. for an iron that is not forged it feels so soft, and the ball flight is incredible. tested it against the new mizunnos jpx 919 and the ping just had it, and are cheaper!!

      Aaron, just asking which Mizuno 919 were you comparing against? The Forged or the Hot Metal model? Thank you!!

      @@tommyh5540 the forged, more of a players club like the i210. Did not test the hot metal as wanted to get away from improver clubs.
