He dropped the cape and helmet, and wore a sleeves leather jack and called himself Thunderstrike. How good it was is a matter of opinion but it did good numbers for a bit and it has its hard core fans.

Gladiator should change his name to Jobber. He exists only to lose to classic Marvel powerhouses, as a way of saying "Superman sucks." The usual DC/Marvel rivalry embodied. He beat Hyperion only because Hyperion is another Marvel Superman clone--that fight was about saying Hyperion wasn't the top Superman clone in the Marvel Universe anymore.
And it's all meaningless. Whoever they want to win, wins. Whoever they want to lose, loses. And Gladiator struggled against Colossus in his first appearance, in X-Men, before scoring a hard-fought win--Colossus thinks to himself they're about equally strong. And Gladiator had no heat vision then. Or an origin story that is a dark parody of Superman's.
But to make him lose to a Thor clone--that's cold, man. ;)

This was a ripper comic. Part of a long story called "galactic storm" if memory serves? Had this in my collection. I remember BannerIncredibleMoron saying Thor "cheated" by using lightning to stun Gladiator. Yes , the god of thunder and lightning was "cheating" by using his mastery and control of the storm in a fight. And this was Eric Masterson , a normal human with none of the real Thors experience , just his powers as Hemidal had banished Thor for killing Loki in issue 350/volume 1 and he still came close to killing gladiator only to be restrained by vision and wonderman.

Gladiator is often used as a jobber who has been beaten by Cannonball and Colossus has nearly matched him under some creative teams. Byrne was the one who really hyped him in that first fight with the Fantastic Four. The last sentence from Masterson proofed why he was worthy of Mjöllnir. In this whole Confrontation, Gladiator wasn't reasonable and even said himself he would sacrifice Earths whole Galaxy or even any other Galaxy just to save 1 of his own. Can't get more selfish than that. So he admited to be a Threat for at least a whole Galaxy and would do it, if given the Chance. And as Gladiator proofed so many Times since then, he literally can't think for himself, he always needs his Instructions. So Masterson aiming for the kill was more than justified here. Gladiator has never been in the same league as Thor. Literally, Gladiator is a very overrated character when he fights with the Phoenix Force. His attacks don't hurt him. They did nothing, even his own son knew how crazy he was, he looked like a fly against some elephants and when he hit Galactus, Galactus literally with a single attack almost killed the gladiator. He NEVER hurt Galactus or made him bleed, as many believe, that's just a mistake. drawing,

Hyperion is more like Marvel’s version of Superman(he gets his powers from the sun just like him lol).

90% of Thor showings, are Thor holding back. Newbs do not know this, because they dont understand that comic books have existed since before 2005.
Sorry newbs. Read comic books, to debate comic books. Or go back to Teletubbies.

Never was a big fan of the Masterson idea. Just seemed weird for some goof to be posing as Thor.

When I see reminders of horrific, comic book, editing and writing, I am compiled to comment of the trash that was this blatant disrespect of a character
I won’t bore people with a recap of how literally impossible it is for most of marvel, comic characters to defeat gladiator. I blame the talentless, goofy editing, and goofy writers for creating such forgettable trash.
Waiting for the day of AI that allows for someone to create a better quality story that showcase what these characters are really capable of

I can't wait to see Sentry defeat the One Above All some day. He deserves that kind of achievement because he's Marvel's most promising hero combatant.

@@derekleesmith76 exploring a weakness doesn't make him a joke. Like how Superman can be defeated by just kids with Kryptonite, yet remains the most powerful DC hero, like when he defeated World Forger. So Sentry has potential to defeat the One Above All someday, like how Thanos did with the Astral Regulator.

Sentry is just another fill in copy of Superman his whole purpose in Marvel comics is to get beat up by everyone, as a way for Marvel to thumb their noses at DC.

@@seyio1717 If Superman can defeat Multiversal Gods after decades of character growth, then Sentry is bound to defeat the One Above All, since his character growth is so much faster than Superman. They'll propably give Sentry his ultimate form as the one who can best any God, no matter how powerful they are in Marvel.
