Got the game about a month ago, a few of the Horizons planetary missions paid well so I did a couple in my starter Sidewinder. This kind of thing happened more than once. None of the crashes killed me though, that I can remember. Apparently I managed to crash slowly enough to not instantly explode.
imagine if when you heard your computer yelling eject on a planet like that it actually ejected you and now you have to wait for someone to come find you.
I've done this.. after traveling to Colonia then to Sag A and then about 5k LY pass.. I decided to land on a planet, the first one this whole trip, it had like twice the normal gravity. I was heading towards the ground and tried to point my nose up and prepare for impact... to no avail
Lol funniest shit I've seen in a long time is a noob commander flying nose first into a base when i'm walking around on it. They explode into a thousand little bright lights.
Similar thing happened to me and friend playing space engineers couple years ago. We were trying to land on alien world and back then we didn't know ion thrusters doesn't work in atmosphere (plus high planet's gravity, about twice stronger than on Earth)
I did this last night in a keelback on a 2.26G planet last night. Smacked into an NPC ship on a settlement pad. Got a bounty as I was exploding from the crash, got sent to detention facility.
That was not gravity as much as boosting into the ground. Been there, done that. With some ships, going full speed (not even boosting) into a station means hitting the back wall. I consider the shield on my imperial cutter an integral part of the braking system, as there are no other brakes to speak of.
I used play alot of elite dangerous before and watching this made me wanna get a PC again 🤣 The RUclips algorithm did something good for once and recommended this gem😀 Please upload more gems like this😀😀
@@burningkidsfordinner2608 Odyssey is the new DLC for the game that is releasing soon. It's allowing us to get out of our ships for the first time. This video and my last, is Alpha footage 🙂
@@Cold_0311 OH shit thats really awesome, last time I played was when they added the dlc which made it possible to land and fly on planets, alot things have changed I see, most impressive I've seen is the capital ship warp exit animation, that looked awesome😁
Did this last night with about 120m worth of core mining minerals as I was attempting to land at a planetary station to sell. I, unlike you, didn't laugh when it happened.... :-(
The shenanigans you and your buddy get into is hilarious! Please keep em coming, lmao!
Thanks XDD

Well, that's normal, I guess. This game is so awesome that it makes you forget about everything, dangers included.
I think you mean, the game is so ‘Elite’ you forget it’s ‘Dangerous’.
@@Bronson_II thankyou for your service here

Ah yes, gravity, the bane of Supercruise travel time.
I’m always being launched by a planets gravity when approaching a station from planet side lmaoo

Sidewinder is pretty light, so it's a little better at slowing down.
I swear I've seen the other perspective of this a few days ago
Same day, different time 😜

Damn, that's skill to destroy your ship on a 0.25 G planet
Not when the ship has 100 shield and 35 hull.
@@Cold_0311 more likely 350 hull.
Try 4 pips to shield. That would prabably saved your ship!
And in general try 2 4 0 pips.

Did the same thing with a hammerhead trying to land on one of the moons in SC.
Looked as silly as the whale in that hitch hikers movie.🤣
Well it's more that you had a massive thrust vector in that direction, that you didn't have enough space to pull out of and cancel out
That laugh
We've been in Space for all of these years. We forgot about Gravity... *More like out Man Caves*
