I recommend the Seo Taiji Symphony. The entire symphony is electrifying~ Seo Taiji is a genius musician who worked on the entire process of his personal album by himself, including playing all instruments, including guitar, drums, composition, lyrics, singing, producing, and arranging.
Spotted this video on my front page, heh. Major thanks for reacting to Seo Taiji, as I suggested in your Un-Retiring video, if you remember my name & comment. The reason is that you are the first reactor I have suggested Taiji to that was able to react to him, when I had failed to recommend & intrigue other reactors to react to him for the past couple years & they never did. None of them, even waiting to this day. Weird huh. I know some reactors have a process for reaction requests but you have to go to a money payment process which kinda sucks, but its understandable, as they want to make youtube money & I do not go that route, so thats one reason my Taiji requests never get heard. Anyway, here are some more info about Taiji ... FM Business & his other Nu-metal songs from around the Y2k era happened after the KPop idol music industry began by the late 1990s. Because of him. Again, it was his Taiji & Boys band that inspired & was the template for KPop. Singing + Dancing. So after disbanding that Boys hiphop-rock group, he went back to rock & metal music as you saw here & continued his music career concurrently. Note, he is not KPop, he only inspired the start of it, i.e. the father of KPop as I mentioned in your other video. Some will say he is KPop but technically he really is not. KPop is his child. You cannot be both the Father & child at the same time in this context. Unfortunately he is not really known outside of Asia that much, compared to the KPop groups in existence today, like BTS & Blackpink, et al, who both have gone global. He has been popular in Japan, Russia & probably SE Asia. He is rarely known in the west, like in the US, but he does have some fans there/here who are aware of him. It is somewhat sad that more people know more & react to KPop groups & have forgotten about the Father, the one who basically started it, however inadvertent it was. Unfortunately, just like every artist, he does have his haters, but I wont get into that now. Also, unfortunately, since he does not pander/advertise to the west, that means practically every youtube video of his does not have CC/subtitles in other languages, such as English. I am unsure if that is because of that advertising reason or they do not really care about subtitles. On his official youtube channel SEOTAIJI, he did use to have the 2.5-hour 2017 Time Traveler concert featuring BTS, but he recently took it down many months ago because he is converting it into a cinematic movie for S.Korea. There have been many other channels that have downloaded & edited in subtitles in Taiji videos, so you can look for those too. Otherwise you will have to google the lyrics. I hope you do not get any blocks/strikes from his channel. There is so much more I can write about him, but I will stop here for now, heh. But I will leave you with my last observation ...... The BIG irony of KPop is that its sound became more pop, hiphop & R&B, rather than rock/metal, because Taiji is first & foremost a rock/metal musician since the 1980s, but at the same time it is indeed because of him that KPop did become pop & hiphop due to the Taiji & Boys group he was doing at the time in the early 90s, which resonated with the Korean youth of those days making Taiji famous & instrumental in hatching a new music industry. I will get you more Taiji suggestions to react to, since you asked for recommendations in your Un-Retire video & will post them there, if you want. He does have a decent discography but he hasnt made any new music in awhile.
I forgot, but you said you might be familiar with the drummer. That is Heff Holter, an American drummer employed by Taiji for a few years during this era. I think Heff went back to the States afterwards & to this day.
I never like to keep anything behind a pay wall, I dont really want to bad mouth other reactors but from what I can see, a lot of times they will go for videos that will be big ticket reactions, we all do. but I think that in terms of understanding a genre you have to see the roots, I very much appreciate the recommendation and will always take it anywhere they are, my only worry is for some reason RUclips does like to delete comments (which they never answered me for) I try to keep about an hour a day sololy dedicated to responding to comments and try to keep up where and when I can. to me it kinda sounds like SeoTaiji has something in common with Joshi wrestler Kagetsu, almost no one knows anything about how important she was. in anycase I just love all the exposure to this music so where ever you want to suggest I will try to get to it ASAP
@@Killdeer25 ... Thanks for not having a paywall, at least for now, but if you do have to create one in the future, that is understandable. I do get some of my comments deleted as well in my time here on youtube. I sometimes have to figure what words are affecting it & then keep changing a word or two until the comment finally sticks. Sometimes I have to change it over a dozen times lmao. I check & refresh MyActivity to see when it finally sticks, which I know it sticks if the comment lasts a minute, heh. But I first make sure to copy & paste my comments, which are usually long , onto the windows Notepad so that I do not lose it & have to write everything from scratch. I left you a comment above about the drummer if you havent seen it yet.
@robwebnoid5763 na, I will never have a pay wall, you can bet on that, I might make a tip jar that if you want to say thanks then it comes with priority requests, but that's as far as it'll go. I don't do this for money
@@Killdeer25 ... Okay, good to know about no paywalling. By the way, just for clarification, since you are new to Taiji, i.e. title of this reaction "SEOTAIJI AND BOYS F.M BUSINESS LIVE!", is that "Seo Taji & Boys" is a whole other different band & sound than when he formed his own Y2k rock/metal band, self-named, a couple years later after he disbanded the Boys band. Seo Taiji & Boys, his hiphop-rock group, only lasted from 1992 to 1996. Thus "FM Business" was during his metal era & really should not be affiliated with his Boys group. Then in the 2000's, he additionally experimented with EDM, ballads, alt.rock, synthscapes, symphonic mixes & even some stuff that resembled generic KPop. Taiji is also a multi-instrumentalist & music producer/engineer. Hope that made sense. And if you haven't figured it out yet, FM Business was about the struggles he had with the music industry in S.Korea.
FM Business!! We got a winner. I'm so glad you enjoyed it!!!! Can't wait for you to continue your journey. Oh man. When you have time, you should go up next in line to Tiger JK/MFBTY (A group comprised of two best friend rappers and a female wife rapper. The vibes are lit. Thank you for reacting!!
For MFBTY whenever you have time, absolutely no rush - Buckubucku features RM so that one is incredible and then I also recommend Sweet Dream and Angel. Much love! @@Killdeer25
This was cool. My taste in metal is very sporadic and random but this song fits the bill. And having learned a bit of Korean history in the last couple years, I have a lot of respect for the authenticity and message of the music of Koreans that are my age. As much as I love kpop from 2nd gen until now, it is very much a product of companies and artists who have been thriving in a way more stable democracy and economy than 20th century South Korea. I don't know the story of this particular group but this generation had a lot to rage against.
I think from our discussions that we have had, it does feel like all early Korean music felt like it had a tinge of necessary rebellion, if that makes sense
@@Killdeer25 There are some excellent shows that not only have great stories and outstanding casts but that take place with the 80's and 90's political/economic upheaval as the background to the story. I recommend the movie Taxi Driver (based on true events of military subdued student protests), the drama Twenty One Twenty Five (one of the best shows I've seen in any language, with the IMF crisis and the 9-11 attacks as the background) and the Reply series: Reply 1988, Reply 1994 and Reply 1998. The Reply series is three stand alone stories but there are cameos of the main characters from each and hilariously, the parents are always played by the same actors even though they are different, unrelated characters. Reply 1994 in particular has the main character obsessed with kpop and shows the real hype around H.O.T (SM's OT boy group) with a cameo by one of the members as himself and SechsKies (YG's OT boy group) with one of the members actually playing a character in the show (not as himself). All of these I watched on Netflix or Amazon Prime. Easy and entertaining way to get a grasp on recent Korean history. And well written and acted, not just cliche romance.
Not an overt fan of BTS (when I first started listening to Deukae, couldn't get away, so heard most of their stuff). However, my favorite material from them is their performance with Taiji during the 25th anniversary Time Traveler concert. Granted, doesn't have the production the MAMA's, but still.
Yep. And Seo Taiji knew BTS was going to be even bigger than they were in 2017 after he did the collab with them. He knew they had the It factor to go even farther.
I hope Seo Taiji make a Nu Metal Music again and collab with Kpop Rappers with dark/badass vibes like Suga, Zico, T.O.P, and P.O to have a Nu Metal vibes again. Nu Metal is not dead right?😎🤘
