I'm very glad I watched this episode all the way through. I've only been listening to kpop since around Shinee's debut, and learned about the older big idol groups, like Seo Taiji, SES, HOT, etc. and since I'm not very fond of Seo Taiji's music, I thought I'd still watch it to see what his personality is like, and I can honestly say I'm super happy I sat through it, and I enjoyed every minute of it. TL;DR, I never said a group or person in specific, and "making their way into american music industry"? don't make me laugh they've all failed, being known by some people across the sea doesn't mean advancing to their market sorry. If JYP hadn't sent WG to the US for so much time they wouldn't have flopped so hard when they came back. Let's just hope the same doesn't happen to Ailee and CL. Btw, I have "oppas and unnies" for whom I care too, but I never lied in that post.
I never knew Seo Taiji was such a quite person. I always imagined him to be loud and outgoing whenever I listened to his past songs. This is such a nice episode. ^u^
Before coming to this video I read a lot of comments about him saying he's greedy, not nice, such a bad person and so, but after watching this he seems like a really loveble person to me tho.
To all the people who don't know what happened between Seo Taiji and Lee Ji Ah, here are the facts: Seo Taiji revolutionized music in Korea back in the day (1992-1996), introducing to Korea music genres such as rap. Seo Taiji & The Boys was THE most popular band back then, and there were die hard fans of the group (literally). Seo Taiji was the main of the group, but he decided to retire and leave to the US so that he could enjoy his marriage life with Lee Ji Ah. Fans literally committed suicide after hearing the news. I'm not kidding. Some die hard fans really killed themselves. You could understand Taiji's position during that time, Lee Ji Ah had been his lover for years, during the time Seo Taiji and The Boys was active, and if the news of their marriage had gone public, it would have been dangerous for Lee Ji Ah. Fans killed themselves when the group disbanded, who's to rule out a die hard fan attempting murder? Fans were scary as fuck back then, and they're still pretty scary now (although not as hardcore). Seo Taiji did all he could for Lee Ji Ah and their marriage. The whole reason why he left the group and left to the US was so that they could live their lives without having to hide from the public eye. Considering that the two met in the States, living in the US shouldn't have been too uncomfortable for them. On Healing Camp, Lee Ji Ah said that the secluded life was too much for her. But she knew full well what kind of life she would lead when marrying Taiji. Taiji did all he could by disbanding the extremely popular group after just 4 years, to move to the US with her so they could have the freedom to go out in public. He loved making music, and even turned down an offer for a 10 million dollar contract because at the time, he truly believed he would retire and spend the rest of his life with Lee Ji Ah in the States. Somewhere along the line, Ji Ah wasn't content with her life in the States, and wanted to go back to Korea, to perhaps pursue her career. Going back to Korea meant that she had to keep her relationship with Taiji private, as it would be dangerous for her. She couldn't handle it and filed for divorce. Whether you blame Taiji or Ji Ah, both weren't at fault. They kept their marriage secret for over a decade, and did all they could.
Actually no. They had long distant relationship. Were together before the band became famous. During the married relationship she was asked to sign non disclosure & never reveal marriage to him. And they only separated when Taiji decided to come back to Korea to start his solo career in 2000 alone while she stayed back in USA. Only in 2005, she came back to Korea & her career started 2006.
He looks amazing for 46! Its funny, the first song I heard he screamed in it. But he talks so gently and shyly AHHHHHH. He’s 30 years my senior but he’s amazing!
Do not judge him with his private life. He didn't do anything illegal. Also he is very genius in music. I wasn't or isn't his huge fan but I highly respect his achievement on K-pop. He is alive kpop history and still big influence of all singers.
As a very long time Taiji fan I found this simply amazing to watch. Hearing him go into so much depth about his past and present with so much candor and humility -- not to mention all of the personal anecdotes he shared was wonderful. I'm immensely grateful that this was subtitled.
he looks so young for his age. The great Seo Taiji of the 90's in a variety show is so rare that I was a little bit shocked when I saw the title and he's the only guest. wow. just wow.
I've never been more glad that Misun is on the show. She really has a way with words and topics, especially when it comes to such a shy guy as Seo Taiji.
I’ve seen this video so many times and it never gets old. It makes me happy to reminisce on seotaiji’s past although I wasn’t physically there to experience it; and I wish him and his family the best in life!!! 💓
i know seo taiji by his name only and i dont know how he looks like before..after watching this episode, i didn't expect him to be so innocent-looking.. and he's such a cutie pie eventhough he's only around 42
Unfortunately medi always make him look like a a greedy and douchebag because he refused to open his private live to public view...until now. But reality is he's a wonderful human being and a gentleman. When the "issue" exploded he refered to his ex wife as a "Secret in my heart"
Pretty much now you see how someone can become a victim to the media. People worship celebrities way too much. Like wtf he shouldn't have to tell everyone who he is marrying. I know for a fact if he had told people he was married to someone his fans would've torn that person to shreds. He is very intelligent and knows that his loved ones would get hurt being expose. He remained mysterious to protect people not himself.
Seo Taiji looks so young and fresh.. i actially like the beat and his songs. He's also a soft speaker. feels i admire him. 😁 It's just sad to see artists being sorry when it's concerning their Private lives. even though they're public figure, they still need to have some private life as well. let them live the way they wanted. Hoping all the best for his career and family. 🙂
OKAY SO I’m an international fan of bts, and saw that they performed w him right...and learning about seo taji and the LEGEND he is has been a strangely eye opening experience, the Influence he had on Korea in the 80’s and 90’s is incredible and I wish more musical legends like him were recognized as American and European ones are
Thank you KBS for this episode. Its really amazing to see Seo Taiji in a new light, as compared to his introverted persona he has portrayed for a wile. Im so happy he went on the show and showed no reservations to any of the questions. His occasional lightheartedness was definitely great to see. I cant wait to see more of him. :)
I didn't know him so well, but he's a legend and he's so kind and humble. Very nice gentleman. The song "come back home" seems very close from Cypress Hill's style , especially the beat and the voice. I can hear the influence.
He's so gentle and soft spoken. You can tell that he has learned a lot, and I respect him for that. Yes, he made mistakes, yes he did some bad things in his life, but he is human, and he cannot take back what he has done, so instead, he learned from it, and it takes a lot for someone to be able to admit their mistakes and figure out a way to improve themselves so that they don't make the same mistakes over and over again. Yes, what he did was wrong, but come on people, he was young, extremely popular and still trying to figure out how to deal with things, not that that is a good excuse but it is legitimate in some aspects. He even says that he respects IU for her ability to portray her emotions when she's still so young, and then says that hes able to do so a lot better now. I understand people being upset, and rightfully so, however was he supposed to repeat this with his second wife? Obviously not. And another thing is, we don't know what really happened, we can only go off of what his ex is saying, and what he agrees to based on the fact that he most likely feels terrible. I'm not saying we should treat him as a victim, but we shouldn't make him a villain either. He should simply be treated as a human being. We weren't there, we didn't see what went down when they were alone, we don't have exact conversations, and therefore I don't think we should judge him based solely on the interview his ex wife did or what happened. He is an amazing musician, and from what I can see, he is becoming very wise. To me, that is all that matters. He is still learning and I'm sure he will continue to learn throughout his life, and that is good thing. I hope to see more from him in the future.
Wow I'm starting to like Seo Taiji. I've only heard about him through YG. I am so glad that I watched this episode. I am definitely going to look at his new and old songs.
wow he is so handsome, calm and youthful. I saw his name in k-news or mentioned in any shows or featuring a current pop singer's songs but never know how he looks, i imagines someone similar to gil leesang, but... omg turns out he is so cute and looks like bae yong jun. wow wow wow
Well what can I say?? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so happy to see Seotaiji on Happy Together and that's so awesome that he's out with a new album too! He was the VERY FIRST Korean artiste whose music I heard for the first time in '05. Dang! One madly talented versatile musician indeed. Much respect!
Seeing this 5 years later, he had a coklab with BTS and saw potential in them before they were famous. Seo Taiji has my respect and one of my favorite artists from back then. He reminds me so much of Suga
I’ll admit, I came because I wanted to see who this mysterious and kinda chilling person is. I now know that he is damn good looking and talented to boot. He also embodies the private life I would want to have if I were famous. He is intelligent and devoted to his private life, and I love that about him. I love how protective he is. I wish him all the happiness that this life can offer him.
Seo Taiji sounds like what happened in his Past was Fast Fame & Young Love. That's his past & he's a husband & loving Dad now. I wish him the Best with his music & I hope the fans stand behind him. I've been Kdrama & Kpop fan for about 3 years now so I wasn't aware of the scandal he went through. Show love & support!
I’m a kpop fan and an inspiring artist, here to learn more about Korean music. Thought the legend himself would be a good choice to learn about. For those who don’t know this man basically created “kpop” he’s where it all started :)
omooo~ Seo Taiji on the show~ alone~ daebak daebak. Finally can see him on reality show. even though i'm not korean, i knew about him and his music.yeah you must come back home. He looks young ^_^ yay gonna watch this episode since last night I miss the show.
Not surprised at all the comments about the episode being boring. You simply had to have been there to experience the extent of his 90s fame, to understand why every single host fawns over STJ's presence, and why his appearance warranted a "special" with a unique format.
I'm getting into him recently and I've always loved his old songs as Seo Taeji and Boys because many shows and dramas use them as BGM, while many artists also cover their awesome songs. I am in love with Sogyeok-dong too!! Now that I finally know what Seo Taeji looks like and how he acts, I can see he's a really gentle guy & also funny and interesting in his own way. I hope to see him more often, and I'm glad he's back! Fighting, Seo Taeji, don't let the rumors and negative comments get to you, and congratulations on your baby~ ^_^
What a coincidence! I noticed that both YG and Seo Taiji talks in a very gently way, and they sound a bit alike. - Is it because the two of them were in the same group and affected each other's way of talking? xD
I'm so happy that I've clicked this video. I know he is considered to have been started kpop. Once having it in memory I wanted to know about seo taiji and boys more. And now I'm his fan :)
I really like Seo Taiji, and he has made great progress in the kpop culture, and for all those new idol fans who thinks this is boring go fucking see your oppas who have only come this far because of great stars Like Seo Taiji. It's just disrespectful calling him creepy and boring.
I came here to learn more about Seo Taiji cause BTS were given an honor to remake his song and I knew only that he is a legend and his music is bop so I was curious. I didn't expect him being so gentle considering his image on stage and hype songs. It's a nice episode. Now I am anticipating for Seo Taiji and BTS collab even more.
I think this episode was great! It was all calm and focused. I feel the episodes have become somewhat chaotic of late - so this was awesome for a change. Also I loved seeing everyone in casual outfits^^
Am i the only one who feels that if Seo Taiji acts in a movie or in a drama then Nu'est Jonghyun can play his younger version😂.....i mean both of them give the same vibe, they have such a cute smile and they're really polite & humble!😍 I mean.... just imagine what 'if' they get casted in the same drama or movie🤔
im still remember jaejoong said about changmin..'besides seo taiji, changmin is the person who hard to call out'.. and wowww, now i watch him in happy together and i cant believe it.....despite his age,he seems a teenager to me.. his soft voice, humble personality, cool calm person...seo taiji..
those who says they don't know who Seo taiji is.. he's really big back in the days. after he disband the group with YG ceo and lee juno. 13 fans or more committed suicide. can you imagine if they know seotaiji marry lee ji ah secretly back then. would be huge disaster! i mean they could kill her. even any boy group had any contact with some other girls group or what. those crazy fans are really scary!
timiniho if I remember correctly . It was on Wikipedia or some other articles about him . I read it when I was focused on come back home . It said something for about young kids who ran away come back and prevented kids from running away.
After I got to know about KPOP and Korean cultures, I've been hearing so many things about Seo Taiji and how he's a legend in KPOP, but never actually sees him in person in shows, like in a variety show. Glad that Happy Together managed to bring him! He seems so quiet and reserved, but I like how he managed to funny comments from time to time. One of the best HT episode I've ever watched. :) Addition: I read some of the comment before I watch the show, and now I've finished it, I can't understand why people said that he's boring and "gave a bad vibe." I think this episode is really interesting to watch.. (This is coming from someone who didn't experience the craze over him when he was at his peak and basically know almost nothing about him. I wasn't even 1 y/o when he debuted.)
oh... now that i got to know him..... the way he manages his private life reminds me so much of how YG deals with the issues of their artist's private lives.. .
I'm not into the Korean celebrity gossip scene....I just luv the dramas and some of the music....I just know Seo Taiji from his music....but I have to say that interview was daebak!!! and I luv how he kept it classy....I too hope that his ex-wife also finds her happy ending....life goes on

Before coming to this video I read a lot of comments about him saying he's greedy, not nice, such a bad person and so, but after watching this he seems like a really loveble person to me tho.
asksak dsjkfhj he’s just very private so many think he’s cold but he’s an angel
To all the people who don't know what happened between Seo Taiji and Lee Ji Ah, here are the facts:
Seo Taiji revolutionized music in Korea back in the day (1992-1996), introducing to Korea music genres such as rap.
They kept their marriage secret for over a decade, and did all they could.
wow. thanks for this
Thats so sad :c
thank u for this comment i appreciate it a lot
This needs to be a movie
Actually no. They had long distant relationship. Were together before the band became famous. During the married relationship she was asked to sign non disclosure & never reveal marriage to him. And they only separated when Taiji decided to come back to Korea to start his solo career in 2000 alone while she stayed back in USA. Only in 2005, she came back to Korea & her career started 2006.
He looks amazing for 46! Its funny, the first song I heard he screamed in it. But he talks so gently and shyly AHHHHHH. He’s 30 years my senior but he’s amazing!
How is he still looking so young and adorable? What a legend
Do not judge him with his private life. He didn't do anything illegal. Also he is very genius in music. I wasn't or isn't his huge fan but I highly respect his achievement on K-pop. He is alive kpop history and still big influence of all singers.
What came to my mind about him is I never expect him to be so calm? He had this calm feeling about him.
He looks so blissful whenever his wife is mentioned
As a very long time Taiji fan I found this simply amazing to watch. Hearing him go into so much depth about his past and present with so much candor and humility -- not to mention all of the personal anecdotes he shared was wonderful. I'm immensely grateful that this was subtitled.
Now i understand why Seo Taiji was so well-liked.. and i really like the way how he speaks so softly haha
He has such a warm gentle voice, I really enjoy this episode.
he looks so young for his age. The great Seo Taiji of the 90's in a variety show is so rare that I was a little bit shocked when I saw the title and he's the only guest. wow. just wow.
I found out about Seo Taiji when I watched Reply 1994, he is so soft spoken. :3
Omg I’m still on 1988
I've never been more glad that Misun is on the show.
Seo Tajik is such a talented Living Legend in Korea Music Industry! Salute him!
I only knew him as a musician. I didn’t know he was so eloquent and soft spoken! He has such a calming presence
This is all he was hiding? He is really an amazing man, and media made me think he was all greedy.
He remained mysterious to protect people not himself.
what that media talked about him? im new kpopers...
I mean the media also ruined Tablos life back a few years ago as well, which is truly sad.
He's very gentle and soft spoken, and I like the way he talks with smiling :)
It's trippy to watch this after I've been watching his music videos. His real life energy is so different from his performance energy. Fascinating.
HE'S THE FIRST IDOL GROUP WHO CHANGE THE KOREAN MUSIC SCENE... BLEND IT HIP HOP AND ROCK, WAS GENIUS
Seo Taiji is the legend of korean music not just a legend he is "the legend" !
Seo Taiji looks so young and fresh.. i actially like the beat and his songs. He's also a soft speaker. feels i admire him. 😁
It's just sad to see artists being sorry when it's concerning their Private lives. even though they're public figure, they still need to have some private life as well. let them live the way they wanted.
He's so adorable! I'm a Kpop fan just 2 years but I knew who he is and actually… I listen to songs from him and older more than new idols...
I think he choose the best choice for his life and career and we must respect for his decision
for my first time watching him, he really gives off weird cool professional feeling, I really enjoyed this episode.. :) and he looks so young....
Well, I for one appreciate this episode. Seo Taiji is a legend. Thanks KBS World TV.
I didn't know him so well, but he's a legend and he's so kind and humble. Very nice gentleman.
The song "come back home" seems very close from Cypress Hill's style , especially the beat and the voice. I can hear the influence.
i never knew he looked this young wow :o he talk so gentle i m in a shock
I hope to see more from him in the future.
what did he do at past?
Wow I'm starting to like Seo Taiji. I've only heard about him through YG. I am so glad that I watched this episode. I am definitely going to look at his new and old songs.
Im so happy that happy together did seo taiji special
wow he is so handsome, calm and youthful.
He seems to be a good person!!! He’s also cute too
Love this episode with Seo Taiji thanks KBS
Seeing this 5 years later, he had a coklab with BTS and saw potential in them before they were famous. Seo Taiji has my respect and one of my favorite artists from back then. He reminds me so much of Suga
Oh my god he's so warm!! I really enjoyed the episode
This is the man i love the most in this world! Forever a Legend and inspiration to new idols!!
He's so sweet I could cry
He's really goodlooking!! Looks so young!
서태지 정도의 사람이 저런 자리에서 자신을 낮추려 노력하는거 자체가 정말 멋있다
Seo Taiji sounds like what happened in his Past was Fast Fame & Young Love. That's his past & he's a husband & loving Dad now. I wish him the Best with his music & I hope the fans stand behind him. I've been Kdrama & Kpop fan for about 3 years now so I wasn't aware of the scandal he went through. Show love & support!
I’m a kpop fan and an inspiring artist, here to learn more about Korean music. Thought the legend himself would be a good choice to learn about. For those who don’t know this man basically created “kpop” he’s where it all started :)
I admire seo taiji demeanor as the show progresses. All reply was clear and honest. Very humble and precise.
The interview was done very well. Seo Taiji was surprisingly open and very cool I thought.
OMG thank you for finally uploading it. It's so hard to find his interviews with subtitles, this is great!
Seo Taiji씨 really epic... Thank you KBS World TV.
omooo~ Seo Taiji on the show~ alone~ daebak daebak. Finally can see him on reality show. even though i'm not korean, i knew about him and his music.yeah you must come back home. He looks young ^_^ yay gonna watch this episode since last night I miss the show.
Can he get any calmer? ^^ But very attractive and like-able.. And very handsome as well.
I only watch happy together for this ep. So nice even though seo taiji is the only guest.
What a coincidence! I noticed that both YG and Seo Taiji talks in a very gently way, and they sound a bit alike.
- Is it because the two of them were in the same group and affected each other's way of talking? xD
Main difference being one was involved in human trafficking
a sponk wasnt that Juno?
@@faiiryliights6961 nope, juno was arrested w fraud and assault
i cant believe i sat here and watched all of this oh well it was fun
He's so soft and pure his face and voice makes me really happy
Reminds me of Suga a little bit
I'm so happy that I've clicked this video.
I know he is considered to have been started kpop. Once having it in memory I wanted to know about seo taiji and boys more. And now I'm his fan :)
I really like Seo Taiji, and he has made great progress in the kpop culture, and for all those new idol fans who thinks this is boring go fucking see your oppas who have only come this far because of great stars Like Seo Taiji. It's just disrespectful calling him creepy and boring.
This guy is truly an inspiration for me
서태지 언제나 응원합니다.
@Big K's Language Lab
He looks like someone that's really down to earth👍🏾
I came here to learn more about Seo Taiji cause BTS were given an honor to remake his song and I knew only that he is a legend and his music is bop so I was curious. I didn't expect him being so gentle considering his image on stage and hype songs. It's a nice episode. Now I am anticipating for Seo Taiji and BTS collab even more.
YaRiKun same here he is so lovable
He kind of reminds me of Min Yoongi 😍
bro..... Seo Taeji is so handsomeeeee ahhh i think i m in love. and he is 48 years old. man he is a living existing vampire
I think this episode was great!
It was all calm and focused. I feel the episodes have become somewhat chaotic of late - so this was awesome for a change.
Also I loved seeing everyone in casual outfits^^
Am i the only one who feels that if Seo Taiji acts in a movie or in a drama then Nu'est Jonghyun can play his younger version😂.....i mean both of them give the same vibe, they have such a cute smile and they're really polite & humble!😍
I mean.... just imagine what 'if' they get casted in the same drama or movie🤔
SEO TAI JI ♥♥ ㅠㅠ
im still remember jaejoong said about changmin..'besides seo taiji, changmin is the person who hard to call out'..
and wowww, now i watch him in happy together and i cant believe it.....despite his age,he seems a teenager to me..
his soft voice,humble personality,cool calm person...seo taiji..
those who says they don't know who Seo taiji is.. he's really big back in the days. after he disband the group with YG ceo and lee juno. 13 fans or more committed suicide. can you imagine if they know seotaiji marry lee ji ah secretly back then. would be huge disaster! i mean they could kill her. even any boy group had any contact with some other girls group or what. those crazy fans are really scary!
thats why " come back home " saved alot of lives and agree he is a genius
+Cherrylover255 are there any articles about this? would be interesting to read:)
timiniho if I remember correctly . It was on Wikipedia or some other articles about him . I read it when I was focused on come back home . It said something for about young kids who ran away come back and prevented kids from running away.
favc3 Lol that's kinda fucked up but thanks though haha
After I got to know about KPOP and Korean cultures, I've been hearing so many things about Seo Taiji and how he's a legend in KPOP, but never actually sees him in person in shows, like in a variety show. Glad that Happy Together managed to bring him! He seems so quiet and reserved, but I like how he managed to funny comments from time to time. One of the best HT episode I've ever watched. :)
Addition: I read some of the comment before I watch the show, and now I've finished it, I can't understand why people said that he's boring and "gave a bad vibe." I think this episode is really interesting to watch.. (This is coming from someone who didn't experience the craze over him when he was at his peak and basically know almost nothing about him. I wasn't even 1 y/o when he debuted.)
I'm 15 years old literally not even born yet as I'm getting into Kpop I try to get to know how it all begun truly legends
he looks so youthful and refreshing like a student WOW
His laugh is so cute 🥰
So happy to See him again ☺️ he's so adorable omg 😍
I just want to listen him talking😍😍😍 he is such a grate man😍
oh... now that i got to know him..... the way he manages his private life reminds me so much of how YG deals with the issues of their artist's private lives.. .
he's so calm and such a soft spoken person
I'm not into the Korean celebrity gossip scene....I just luv the dramas and some of the music....I just know Seo Taiji from his music....but I have to say that interview was daebak!!! and I luv how he kept it classy....I too hope that his ex-wife also finds her happy ending....life goes on
Omg,why he so cute and gentle..😍😍😍
He just talked gently and still intimidating
woahh. why he look so young in that age??and the way he talked like YG ..hhe
+Lilloxxxbb Bang he`s born in 1972...yoo jae suk same age. Korea's top idol group '90s, he was a leader. Lee Juno and Yang Hyun Suk was a member.
+Matthew Lee I know that soetaeji and the boys too since I'm YGstand hha thank you for information anyway ❤️
I only like his Nu Metal era.

This must have been one insane episode for the staff to plan out!
I am glad to get to know Taiji's real personality. I don't care about his personal life, but I LOVE his music
