  • This is my quick review of my Walther PDP-F in 9mm. This is a great concealed carry option for those of us folks with small hands. If you like what you see here, please like, share, and subscribe! Thanks for watching folks! #waltherpdp #secondamendment #9mm

    Thank You for accentuating that it's comfortable for those of us with small hands. The slide looks easy to grip as well, also a benefit for smaller hands to smoothly handle. I appreciate your review, Bob!

    Ever since Hell froze solid and the Bruen decision dragged NJ kicking and clawing into a world of CCW I have had to re-evaluate my choice in handguns.Used to be only had to consider the bed-side hog-leg for personal defense. We completely missed out on the micro-compact revolution. Smith’s Shield. Sig’s 365 et al Glocks 43 and 48 kinda slipped by my conscienceless. So now I’m playing catch up. A knee-jerk reaction landed a Shadow Systems CR920 in the safe. Great gun - what a G43 should be from the hop. Easy to conceal but is not the kinda gun you want to train with. Recoil fatigue is a new concept for me so not before too long I started looking for alternates, The 3.5” PDP-F has been great. Everything you could want in a duty pistol and easily concealed. and the reduced trigger LOP and grip circumference has been a huge help in the effort to change my technique to a combat trigger pull. I dont have small hands at all, the F’s geometry makes it easy to put the trigger behind the second knuckle for a gross motor trigger pull. when that adrenaline dump hits and the cortisol over rides any target shooting technique, this combat pull gets me repeatable hits in the A zone. sorry for the novel! lol. but I don’t see this aspect of the F’s geometry discussed much - thought I’s drop my 2¢. cheers

    I've had my PDP-F 3.5 for almost a year, and it has fast become my favorite gun. Fits my hand perfectly, super accurate, low recoil, great trigger, and fantastic fit and finish. The only downside for me is that it's too chunky and heavy to use as my EDC, and isn't comfortable to wear IWB. Great range and home gun.

      I’m glad you like it! I really like mine and I carried it in the colder weather here in the northeast because it concealed easily under a hoodie or a coat. Now that it is warming up? I’ll carry something a little slimmer and lighter for summer. So now it is my nightstand gun.

    Had the same problem with my PDP-F as well. 4 Failures out of a two hundred round range trip. All using LAX Ammo 9mm 124 grain (factory new). Over 1500 rounds later and those are the only failures I've had with this firearm. I'm going to chalk it up to the ammo being the problem.

      @@RogueSarge Don't want to tell you what to do, as your experiences may wind up different than mine, but I can tell you that since posting my last comment, I took out the same pistol, with more LAX Ammo 9mm (115 grain this time) and wound up with 33 failure to fires out of 100 rounds . To be fair, I have dry fired this pistol a shit ton, but always with a snap cap present. The only failures I've had with this gun have been with LAX brand ammo.

    Put the holosun SCS on that gun. You dont need a plate and the serrations on the sight matches the slide. Solar charging and you never need a batt. And its low enough to aquire your standard height sights.

    I had the opportunity to shoot this a while back at a training day. I also was able to shoot an FN509 MRD I liked both, was actually leaning toward the PDP because the trigger was so nice. Probably a 50/50 split on guy’s picking PDP over FN, but for sure was better than the Glocks. Thank you for review, I just need to save some more money.

    I have the full size 5 inch PDP and the F-Series with 3.5 barrel. Full size stays at home. F-Series goes with me, tucked under my shirt in a Clinger sticky type holster. I have a Remora Tucked model ordered with their standard clip + an Ulti Clip. F- Series is nearly a half inch thicker than a Hellcat Pro but Walther's Ambi Controls are ideal for my wrecked hands, especially shooting 'wrong handed.' 🙃

    I had a Glock 17 MOS and the Glock 45 MOS on my wish list and I’m thinking that the Walther PDP would be better than the Glock 45 and the Springfield Echelon will substitute the 17!!!!
    All because the shooting angle and ergos!

      Glocks are great pistols and the aftermarket parts market for them is insane. I have a few Glocks in my collection and I really like them. But as soon as I shot the PDP series, I was hooked! Best trigger on a striker fired pistol I have ever shot! And the PDP takes the same sights as the Glock, so if you ever want to replace the sights, any Glock sight will fit the pistol.

  • @racingdc9

    How would you compare the control and kick of the PDP F compared to the 43x? My EDC is also a 43x and was looking to change to something like a G19 for better control. My accuracy w/43x is horrible and trying to get back to the sight pic is tough after each shot.

    • @RogueSarge
      @RogueSarge  7 месяцев назад +1

      I have a 43X as well, and the recoil in the PDP-F is much more manageable. And for such a short barrel, it’s a very accurate pistol.

      I would highly recommend this pistol. I have one in the 4 inch version. As far as recoil goes, I also recommend Underwood defense 68 grain ammunition for carry. This ammo has extremely low recoil in my opinion, but the best ballistics I’ve seen yet on self-defense.

    I noticed toward the end of the video you said that was the second “light primer strike”. Those primer strikes didn’t look light to me at all. They looked like good strikes on the primer from the striker. I think the problem is the ammo. Or more accurately, poorly QC’ed primers from the manufacturer.

      Yeah when I looked at them again after shooting, I thought it was just bad ammo. I have fired a few other brands through it since with no issues at all. Thanks for watching!

    • @RogueSarge
      @RogueSarge  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you! I really don’t notice the difference in recoil at all. I have shot the 4 inch and do not notice it at all. The angle and shape of the grip make recoil very manageable in this size platform, and it’s quickly becoming my favorite pistol in my collection.

    • @mlone7
      @mlone7 6 месяцев назад +1

      I have the 4" and there is a snappy recoil but I changed my grip and locked on to it and the recoil is nothing that cant be mitigated. I would say its about the same as my S&W 2.0 4" compact. I have a Holosun 507 gr on it and absolutely hammer a target at 25 yds. I have shot 50 with it and rang 6" steel. Out of the box this is one of the best guns I have ever shot. I will never get rid of it. I'm thinking of buying the 3.5 which is on sale right now.
