With all the versions of "Summertime", hers is the best....she is from the south and knows how to sing those words like a southerner. Just plain stunning!!
Thank you for this fabulous video! We've all spent thousands of hours listening to the glorious Ms. Price, but this is reminder of just how stunningly beautiful and glamorous she was. To have seen and heard so much beauty must have been overwhelming!
I am fortunate to have attended a recital by Leontyne Price in Richmond, VA in the early 1980s. With no microphone, her voice powerfully filled the entire auditorium with clear, luscious, and beautiful sound while conveying every nuance of emotion in the songs. She performed six encores and received seven well deserved standing ovations! Brava Diva Price!
Best rendition I've ever heard. She captures the Southern essence and expresses it with her exquisite voice, perfect technique, and through her Mississippi lived experience. Brilliant. And she looks fabulous, too. A charming woman who was born to sing and be on stage.
Pulling a high B natural out of the air and holding it with such arrogant ease! She sings this with such simple perfection yet still makes a tour de force out of it. No one alive can do this today. No one. They all TRY hard, but just fall short.
She's always totally awesome, sometimes less, sometimes more. She made an opera fool of me a long time ago. She sang Verdi's "Tacea la notte placida" to me. It is like yesterday. My head spun, she got me. I've never seen her live, unfortunately. Time brought other artists, but Leontyne was the first. She is the first love, and she will always be loved.
@@trilobit4 I was lucky enough to see her twice in 1977 in Il Trovatore and a recital the same year. She is also blame for my opera love. She is in her prime in this concert in Munich and she looks so cute
@@onegin653 I would like to kindly invite you to her FB fan group. The photos from her birthday party, 10. 2. 2023, are there.. facebook.com/groups/fansofleontyne/permalink/2981286948847215/

I heard Leontyne Price sing SUMMERTIME with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra at about this same time, Henry Lewis conducting. My father played the English horn in the orchestra, and he was a lot clearer than this player. I will never forget the performance.
Sublime. And she’s still alive.
Absolutely gorgeous performance.

This concert was insanely GREAT. Hoping u have the Ernani Involami
I'm afraid not. But I'm still looking. The whole concert was filmed, I don't understand why it's not available for purchase.

😂😂😆😅 That was amazing!!
♥️
😮
Thanks for posting such a gem. Is there more to this concert which can be posted?
Ask the Bavarian Radio and TV!
Can this be sung any better than this?
Was she even trying !!!!
Who’s the conductor?
Carlo Franci
That conductor looks lazy and disengaged 😂
