Thank you so much for sharing...I picked up some tips which I know will be helpful...thought I'd tell you how much I appreciated your showing your round top table you normally work on...I showed it to my husband and he pulled out a drummer's stool that I used to use at the keyboard and it works perfectly!!!...I put a sandbag with my pitch bowl on it and the height is adjustable...also we then pulled out a small bench used for electronic keyboards and it is absolutely perfect and has adjustable heights...I was so excited and would never have thought of these two items if not for the quick pix you threw in of you with your $40.00 stool. Happy hammering!!!
Hi Nancy. It was lovely and thanks for posting. In India the repousse' work is done on antique jewellery and you dont find many artisans that are mastered in this. I am very interested to learn this and your video has set the ball rolling. Thank you.
Great video series, very informative. I already had basic knowledge in this area, but not enough for me to use on my suits (I don't make jewelry, I am an armorer) so I always stuck to function instead of fashion, but with knowledge gained I will try to make a bit more Knightly, or even Royalty pieces:)
Thou probably shouldn't especially if it is in a metal pitch bowl! I put mine in my kiln when I first get it, to smooth out the chunks. The bowl tends to heat up first, which heats the sides and bottom and then thou gets the pitch gooey through and through - like you said - we want the top layer squishy! I thank'st thee for a most enjoyable comment. N
You are quite strange and awesome, and make some absolutely fantastic videos. I'm always looking for ways to improve my own artistic pursuits (currently wood carving and pipe making... search Pipes By Design) and think this would open up a lot of new possibilities for me. Very interesting technique- I’m wondering if it might work to use stiff modeling clay under the metal instead of pitch, if I want to just give this a shot without making an investment.
I want to do this so bad! I don’t have the funds for the pitch and pot, not to mention tools! (Donations are welcome through paypal🤓) seriously, I’m an artist and very good at drawing - just have begun doing jewelry (which I’ve always wanted to do) -sigh.
Why don't you make like a little pyramid of pitch? It'd fill everything better by placing the deeper part on the tip - and you wouldn't need to fill it before placing it on the pitch - and it won't make bubbles because the pitch can only spread out pushing the air with it. Dear Nancy, I am Brazilian, here we are not used to dealing with so many different tools. You Americans have tools for every thing you will do ... lol I`m not talking about the chasing... but other things in your videos... is unbelievable... Why do you lose time with copper and other non-noble metals?
