I've been waiting for something like this.
While nations like the US are not nearly as vulnerable to drones as Armenia was, it's still an evolving weapon system that poses a threat to American troops. I don't expect our current generals or the Pentagon to share their anti-drone ideas or main takeaways from the 2nd NK war, but this is basically the next best thing.

Given the picture Major MaCarley paints.......it looks and feels like Armenia is a proverbial "sitting duck", for so many reasons. I find myself mentally comparing Armenia with Israel, in terms of both being surrounded geographically by so many enemies. Israel survives because she has developed the technological/military strength to do so. Armenia has not, for whatever reasons. Of course financial resources are a huge part of the picture. Nobody talks about the $800 million dollars China gave to Azerbaijan. I've wondered if that funding was used by Azerbaijan to purchase those drones from Israel. I still say....Pashinyan , by agreeing to the present terms, merely sends the message to Armenia's enemies: "We're an easy "take." Like I said before..."give them an inch, and they will take 100 miles"....and Armenia's enemies won't hesitate in the very near future !! By his actions, Pashinyan, has given them an open invitation.

Artsakh Armenians are not "separatists." They do not live on "occupied territory." Not clear if this general knows the full facts.

What you said may be argued for artsakh proper, but majority of people living in so called liberated territories were azerbaijani. Even pm of armenia said that before the war shushi had an azeri majority. Armenian government at the beggining said that they were a temporary buffer zone that would be left to Azerbaijan after peace deal, but after some time due to populist rhetoric and armenians argument that that those regions were part of historic armenia, resulted in change in armenian rhetoric, from the occupied regions were a buffer zone to occupied zones(parts of artsakh outside nagorna karabakh autonomous oblast)are an integral part of artsakh.

It's pretty clear from the interview that he doesn't have any ill-intent towards Armenians.

If you doubt that Armenian wasn't the occupier consider this: the entire region of Azerbaijan occupied by Armenia (not only former Nagorno Karabakh) during the First Karabakh War had fewer than 200,000 Armenian but 600,000+ Azerbaijani population (Turks, Kurds, and even a handful of other nationalities like Jews). Armenians were the minority that expelled most of the population population, and created ghost towns all over the region.

The occupied territories around NKAO were occupied even by Armenia's view, though they just said it's justified.
NKAO is NOT considered occupied territory by the UN or international organizations. It's considered disputed.

After the occupation of Karabakh by the Armenians in the 90s.
We can say that it was almost destroyed.
the city of Agdam turned into a ghost town.
Also when we got our lands back
Armenians are forced to leave Karabakh (at home
belonged to refugees 90g) burned down houses, cut down forests
    killed animals
    destroyed our graves, Mechidi,
After the occupation of Nagorno-Karabakh in 1992, the Armenians destroyed the dome of the Russian Orthodox Church in Shusha, turning it into the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Karabakh is a part of Azerbaijan. This fact has been recognized by international organizations. And not control, under OCCUPATİON of Armenia.

They are just trying to cope with defeat be easy on them. Their mindset still is that Russia won. That is their coping mechanism. It is like, "at least the Russians got gibs." =) Be easy on the folks.

You are an American General... Try to be at least a little unbiased. Like in Israel, a historical claim to territory doesn't mean that you can ignore local populations. The Azeri's stopped, when they could have easily pushed on to Stepanakert. Your Analysis that the Azerbaijani objective was to annihilate the Armenian people is fundamentally flawed.

    • @BurningWidow
      @BurningWidow 3 года назад +3

They stoped because Russia moved in. 3 cease fires had been broken by Azerbaijan prior to the peacekeeper deployment. Like you compared Artsakh to Israel, you cannot ignore the local population of Armenians who's capital was being bombed daily for 44 days. You must also look at the treatment of POWs and what the Azeri soldiers do to captured Armenian civilians.
The General's analysis is kinder to Azerbaijan than the reality of the situation should allow.

@@BurningWidow Armenia's capital is Yerevan and Azerbaijan didn't go into Armenia proper. Stepanakert is in Nagorno-Karabakh, part of Azerbaijan and the capital of their terrorist and not-internationally recognized government. Yes, they were attacked. and yes, military targets were hit. and yes, there is always some collateral damage. But Armenia shot Scud Missiles into Ganja; unguided missles shot at civilian areas completely separated from the frontlines. Armenia is really good at crying foul, while breaking all the rules themselves. Lets try to be a little bit more unbiased and open-minded...
