One of the first kits I ever bought as a kid. At age 69 years and just learning again I now have a 1/72 by Sword, a very nice kit. Alex your attention to detail has re-ignited my modelling ambition. Certainly makes me smile.
That model wears the 74 Sqdn crest, the Flying Tigers. Mine was 11 Sqdn, Binbrook, and 29 Sqdn Conningsby. We all did the same job, and all I have left now are my memories, but those were great days....great days, and great people. I so miss my youth.
My dad was in the cadets back in 1972, and on a summer camp he was chosen to go to an airbase where these Lightnings were stationed (of course, not the exact one Alex built but same blue - silver scheme), and he got to see them scrambled. Even has the really old picture of him standing in front of one. Really nice job Alex, your models are the best out there.
A magnificent example of the modeler's craft. The British were the only ones I believe to have ever used this configuration of one jet engine above another, I don't think even they ever used it again. I actually wonder why? The aircraft was effective, not to mention beautiful. I missed out on seeing you fill in and sand the wings leading edges. Very interested in seeing your technique for this.
Alex since we all learning, in your next build try to use the airbrush with less "spattering". This means that the mixture is thick compared to the pressure and because we want the pressure around 1-1.5 psi, you have to thin the paint more. Keep up modeling!
An enjoyable build, Alex.....you make watching your work so easy, especially your tips and techniques used during the commentary. Agree with your sentiments re spray from cans for some aspects of the build....they make the work so much easier and you don't have to clean the airbrush! One small oversight in so many videos you present.....no issue at all 😁. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful model.... :) I have tywo of thse kits, different versions, but I'm not sure when I'll get round to building them.. Having seen this video is somewhat encouraging though! It looks stunning! :)
Hi Alex, a beautiful build of an iconic British Aircraft. I have to make a small comment however. The pylons for the air-to-air missiles on your model are mounted downward which, in the frontal view, makes them sitting below the fuselage of the aircraft. This is definitely not right. The pylons should be mounted 90 degrees on the fuselage so that the rockets are next to the fuselage in the frontal view.Maybe the Airfix instructions are incorrect or whatever. I think it's possible to correct this little mistake. But for the rest a beautiful build.
Outstanding. Only thing I noted was that the black (and maybe silver) coat went on in heavy droplets (spitting?) creating an orange peel effect. Well disguised by weathering though 9.8/10
Ola ,adorei teu vidéo como sempre tems muito talento no intento como a airfix pode sair um kit com um gap assim na frente ?? Vergonha pa . Diz me la qual putty tu usas e melhor para ti . Ps nao gosto do vallejo . Saudaçoes de um habitante de Castelo branco ;)
The black is a glossy black and with the aluminium color it helps to have later more shine... the surface is smoother and helps the Aluminium tô "pop up" a bit 😊👍 at leats in my humble opinion
PLEASE NOTE: Abou this vídeo i have a 'Erratum".... My next vídeo Will remove the "mistake" i made. Thank you!
To War Thunder
hmm great man. Greetings from Russia

The quality of airfix kits is much better than it used to be.
Love the Lightning. Extraordinary and noisy
Very noisy! :)
Stunning job Alex. You really brought out the character of this amazing Cold War aircraft!

Alex, I really enjoy watching your videos. You inspire me to become a better modeller. Thank you.
Thank YOU for motivating me, to make better videos and, sometimes,🙂 better models! Cheers!

That’s really nice. I’m about to start the exact same kit. If I can get mine looking anything like yours, I’ll be very happy. Well done, Alex.
Great work matey . These are always great little mojo boosters. I hope you and your family are well

Excellent job staining the aluminum. Great work overall
Very nice. I love these cold war birds, Congratulations.
As for the lightning, I only built the MATCHBOX one, a while ago in the early 80's! The evolution in the quality of the kits is amazing.
Great build and paintjob, as usual !!!
Great build Alex
Makes me want to go out and buy one myself
Awesome what a beautiful aircraft and build. Always a pleasure seeing your work and talent. Till the next take care and have a great weekend my friend

Yes it was my mistake unfortunatly... Wont happend again. But thank you for your comment and correction. It is this way that Ivan grow up as a modeler
Awesome as usual Alex, thank you
Nice work! 😊👍
Great build, thanks for the video and tips
Alex, no es magnifico, «««ES SUBLIME,»»» CONGRATULATIONS, super precioso , eres el mejor👍👏👏👏👏👏 ❤ Manuel de Murcia, Spain.
Looks superb, you just got the Port side vertical fin red/white/blue out of position, otherwise spot on.
Outstanding.

Beautiful model sir,a nicely presented build too.
Nice build, but the missile pylons are not correctly placed. They do not hang down at an angle but stick out horizontally.
Great vid thank you!
Thank you!
Wow Alex, you are like lightning, how did you find the time to build this so quickly after the Spitfire!? Great work though!
Mais um grande trabalho parabéns!!!!

@@AlexModeling ok muito obrigado a ti e forçage teu site e realmente do topo tens muito talento
Alex pardon my ignorance but why did you paint the model black before the final aluminium colour.
Regards Chris
