I saw him play three nights ago. He's in the "Legacy" lineup now. They've been playing in Toulouse Theater for the last several months while the Hall is being refurbished. He's still got it and full of jokes.
leave for NOLA to get married on Tuesday and I have tix to see these guys the day before I say I do. A must see EVERY time in NOLA. There ain't much real music these days but Pres Hall definitely keeps it alive in a big way!
I was there back in 1989 and had a great time listening to this wonderful band. All the members were over 70 back then and probably most of them are gone by now. But the band lives on..
Antediluvian Clockwork No one can take music away from me in this life. It exists in the mind as well as in the physical realm so even if somehow all cds and means of playing music were destroyed, the tunes would still be playing in my head.
damn, it's therapeutic....my toe just has to start tappin' and fingers start typin'.... down in ole' New Orleans.........if you can't be there...this is the next best thing....thank you RUclips.
Amazing! I was in Preservation Hall last week on an ELCA trip! I loved it and I was in that exact room! I was even jamming out listening to this video. I am not going to be able to stop listeing to New Orleans jazz now. Thank you so much! :)
I saw these wonderful musicians today at my school. It was an incredible experience! I'm so happy I had the privilege to enjoy such fine music. I hope to one day find myself in the Preservation Hall.
Preservation Hall is one of my favorite places in the U.S. This is a great example of why. I live the trombone part. But, I may be biased, as that is the primary instrument that I play, and Dixieland jazz is my favorite music.
Visited that very spot in the 1970s as a kid. Mesmerized. A French naval cruiser was docked in town and the sailors came in to listen and watch. Also mesmerized.
Just saw the band at The Britt in Jacksonville, Oregon. They were one of the opening acts for Trombone Shorty, and no disrespect to him and his band, I could have listened to the PHJB all night. What great entertainers.
For those who are wondering why the bone is so loud, if you notice the camera angles, there are multiple, but every time it changes, the sound remains the same, meaning the sound is recorded from a stationary mic. The mic is probably situated right next to the trombone player.
Hmm. Nice vibes! I wanna check this out in person. Love the gritty trombone lines. Dig all the horn personalities playing differently yet as a group. Setting looks appealing to me. Thanks for sharing, Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
CAN'T RESIST>> THIS MUSIC IS MY DREAM COME TRUE. MY BEST TO ALL THE NOLA MUSICIANS FROM VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA. I WILL BE BACK! HOPE YOUR BIRTHDAY WENT WELL.
You guys are so fun to listen to! Would love to see and hear you in person. Keep on keepin' it on!! You make me so glad to be alive in the here and now.
Fantastic!!. Saw these guys at Hampton Court beer festival. They are great musicians and they obviously enjoy themselves. This is what jazz is all about. Enjoy. Don't take it seriously all the time. Roger Dobbing
Hey! Hey Myrie! This is where I hid your gift. Hope you like what you see, because we gonna go see these guys up at the Fillmore on Friday, November 6! Meshell Ndegeocello will also be playing! Happy Birthday!!
My boy on the bone playing as if he'll never play again.
Love him.
That would be Fred Lonzo, but I guess he left the group now. Sniff, sniff.

20 years old and I love listening to this kind of music! what a fantastic band!
Detroit's own Charlie Gabriel on vocals and clarinet. Charlie's a true living legend and a native New Orleanian (as you can plainly see/hear).
He was a saxophone whiz as well.
What a quality Jazz band. Full of life and spirit . Briiliant

Anyone can agree with me that music is a gift that no one can take from you
Music can be taken away. Immortality can't.
Antediluvian Clockwork No one can take music away from me in this life. It exists in the mind as well as in the physical realm so even if somehow all cds and means of playing music were destroyed, the tunes would still be playing in my head.
It lives on in others.
Music is here/hear and now. I am going to shout, dance and sing and do my thing in the here and now!!
Ti
This is wonderful to see this band play this song and the audience clap their hands to this song.
I have a wonderful memory, I attended a concert of them in New Orleans, on my birthday, it was great
One thing I can say, Fred Lonzo on the trombone, is NOT a wimpy player at all!! Wow!!
I cried profusely at Preservation Hall and cannot wait to return.

New Orleans Jazz the best thing in the whole world
This band doesn't sound like this anymore ....they've evolved and no longer represent the true, old New Orleans street style.

Beautiful Spirit!
I only can say, despite of who is playing, they have the will and taste to play JAZZ. GREAT JAZZ. This is an excelente JAZZ, the best JAZZ.
I was in the Preservation Hall in 1987. That sound and that mood still resonates in me.
