As a quick lane worker for a dealership it's a tad different for us... we work by ourselves do all our own work... only issues I personally saw were they didn't torque the wheels or check either air filter cabin or engine also didn't see coolant checked. But honestly some of these comments are nitpicky as I'll get out lol... "Didnt check tires for cupping or punctures" they did... tire pressure was good so no need to look for a puncture and he checked for cupping while doing the tire tread... true that they didn't check both front brakes that was missed but a lot of negativity for a couple of mistakes while the GM videoing may have put pressure on them might not have idk but don't be jerks to be jerks either... lastly everyone is like why are they trying to do it so fast obviously there is a camera and second you only have 30 minutes so if something were to happen (tire nail, oil pan leaking, tire rod ect) they need to have extra time to do that too in the 30 minute appointment window
So far this team has only measured the right side of the vehicles brakes, brakes do and can wear un even from left to right. Second tire pressure was checked and tread depth but no inspection to tires for nails , punctures, or cupping. lastly under hood was checked but never once was air filter box open to check condition . Speed isn't always good with fine tuning tho better job can be done .
As2684 some engine air filters are built as part of the "box" so it's 10x times more difficult to rebuild in a quick manner and much harder to do the snap a few clips, also for a quick lane service under 30k most if not all filters, brakes, tires are in green to moderate "yellow" condition.
Terrible inspection lol You guys could use some training. With a 2 man team it is possible to do a MUCH better inspection with a rotate and oil change in 15 mins or less. Proper training and orginaziton is key.
I fucking hate lube techs that act like they're mechanics. This is the equivalent of changing a light bulb and yet there's people saying they're doing it wrong. Bitch, drain the oil and put new oil and filter and get the car the fuck out of there. Got more important things to do. Stop making it seem complicated in the chat because you have been a lube tech for a month. A 6 year old can do this.
I work the same quick lane, but in a different state and area, I don't know if these two are hourly or flat rate pay but man do they over do the whole macho me beovado style... Also check all calipers and pads, mostly the inner break pad!
That’s gravy but wait till you approach one the same year with punctured tire on the rear and let the writer know for the customers safety on the rotation which needs approval from customer then you came across all 5 swollen lug nuts on ALL 4 tires and the 19.5 socket won’t do the trick so hammer time then you realize that the writer sold a puncture tired repaired that wasn’t leaking than you come across stripping the lug nuts cause the 19.5 socket didn’t fit so now you need to use a special socket to take them out cause the writer sold the lug nuts as well then after repairing the tire you put everything back together and now you need to lower the car and finish the rest and customer drives a couple miles away from lot and it comes back because the shield is flapping cause the plastic that holds the screw and fender in place is ass and fell after leaving lot which isn’t no ones fault so you need to raise it back up with a jack or lift cause it’s a low car and it’s on the far end of fender to replace it and is a tight squeeze and then you are finished. But wait there’s more you realize you killed more time then beating the flat rate or nearly made it but if you get paid hourly you still get chewed out cause it goes straight to the service manager. Now you better have that car as easy as this video if you get paid hourly cause you don’t want to hear big poppa.
I agree. I don't like the way they were rushing around to do things! I don't know if that was just because they were being filmed, or the guy running the camera is the boss and a real prick to work for!

You have control on the other hand tou have no control of what the other guy is doing. So, usually if something does wrong they both get burn. And this is not the correct training to become a professional lube tech, let alone a mechanic.
They really aren't going all that fast, and if you watch them are performing different jobs as their own work. I've done two tire installs in 15 minutes on small dinky cars by MYSELF with paperwork included. When you become experienced it's about a routine. And pretty much all cars have the exact same routine for basic services.

Ok man ive been at a shop for 2 years i pull it in check lights do all the topside inspection put the oil cap in the hood latch that has saved me a couple times then go up to chest height check tire pressure go up enough to get under it change oil and underside inspection if the wheels have to come off i do that after i drain the oil and let the oil drain while you do your rotation then raise it up and finish up the oil change just take your time going this fast like in this video can cause you to make mistakes that could be very expensive

And as soon as it gets above my head I try to take off the splash shield and start doing the checks and that time I’m checking all four axles and tie rods brake lines emergency brake lines and start taking off the tires . But one of the advisers told me just as soon as you pull it into the bay fill the tires first then do the hood last so I’m getting tips all over the place and I’m just trying to find what works because the first time I did it I was such in a rush that my fingers got caught between the spoke of the wheel and The brake caliper all I heard was a crunch in a snap but there is no time to stop I just have to keep pushing to finish up that car before the advisers ask me why am I taking so long . But I’m going to try what you said because at this point I’m trying anything I can to make that 30 minute mark
Ya i do it constantly every day but some things you might have to figure out by yourself what works for me might not work for you i had to take tips from all of the techs when I started combined them together and found what works for me it all takes time and experience

tuberman93 axb I work in the quick service lane, And thats because theres a good chance theres about 10 cars in front of you and or 2 or 3 techs available, theres a good chance the cars in front of you had an appointment, or an extra service (tire balance, m+b, air filter change, etc) plus we have to do an mpi for every vehicle top to bottom which takes a while.
they are only working that fast because its on video for the dealer if it wasn't they would say fuck it and work slowly like usual they are express techs they don give a fuck about you your car or if you are waiting

This hurt so much to watch idk why, just watching them try so hard to be fast. its all about effiency not working fast. for example: drain the oil and then rotate the tires while its draining. and after you get the wheels back on fill the tires. when i was a lube tech by myself id get an oil change and rotate done in 12-20 minutes.
Michael Agosta I’m the same way but while the oil is draining I fill up the tires and check for Bailey and cupping make sure nothing else is leaking then I do the rotation.
Where I go I purposely go to this place I won't mention by name but they are really good they do the oil change and all the inspections takes them about 75 minutes I know this cause I watched them from the waiting room work on my car. I can wait id rather have good employees take there time do things right in a safe manner and treat my car right. No need to go fast

The guy starts to take off the gravel pad with the car 3 feet in the air. Then moves it up another foot to get under it. Still squatting and looking stupid lol.. They didn’t look at anything under the vehicle (probably because they couldn’t walk under it), they didn’t check all the brakes. The guy mounting the tires definitely needs some training..! I can list several other things that were missed or done wrong when doing a lof/rotate. I can only imagine how many people come back due to the oil cap being left off and other dumb things that should be avoided. You can work efficiently and still do a quality job. Both of those lube techs need better training and the guy videoing which I’m assuming is the boss needs training as well...!! These guys will never move up and make it as certified techs working like that..
Melbourne Paint Correction & Auto Detailing The guy started lifting the car as the other guy was still taking the tires off why not have both guys on each side do two tires and check each brake and rotors like they should have both just picked on side instead of the black guy running around to each side

I hope they didn’t pay for an inspection. Missed inner brake pad measurement. Only measured one part of the tire, didn’t check for cupping, cracking, edge wear etc. on the tires. Didnt check engine or cabin air filter. Didn’t check steering or suspension parts. No battery test. I would be furious if someone just didn’t check that stuff

many many many failures here. no star patterns when tightening lugs, he tightened the key for the security lug with the impact (big no no) where was the balance for the tires? didn't drain all the oil possibly leaving a quarter of a quart in there. spilled the washer fluid as he was filling it. ect. no not an excellent job. just because you do it quick doesn't mean it's done right. I'd rather wait and make sure my car is done right than someone speed thru everything taking shortcuts possibly ruining parts or damaging my lug nuts.
Jiffy Lube did mine in half that time...Sure they forgot the Oil and my Car Engine blew, but they did it fast.

i did see they used a torque stick. but they should have checked the torque with a torque wrench after the car was back on the ground

many many many failures here. no star patterns when tightening lugs, he tightened the key for the security lug with the impact (big no no) where was the balance for the tires? didn't drain all the oil possibly leaving a quarter of a quart in there. spilled the washer fluid as he was filling it. ect. no not an excellent job. just because you do it quick doesn't mean it's done right. I'd rather wait and make sure my car is done right than someone speed thru everything taking shortcuts possibly ruining parts or damaging my lug nuts.
