If you are trying something like this, Intel cards require Resizable BAR support which a lot of older systems don’t support or need special workarounds, it might be worth the time to do tweaking/modding to get resizable BAR working to fully take advantage of ARC cards Also Austin’s specific CPU generations on X79 doesn’t have AVX2 instruction support, I think there’s some modern games that requires it
Only 1 problem: the A750 requires "Resizable BAR" to be enabled. It wasn't until 8th Gen Intel that the option began being added to board UEFI. As such, you're not able to use the A750 to its full potential in a 3rd Gen rig. Try re-running those benchmarks with the A750 in the "Pro" build instead, and watch the performance improve significantly.
I think when they play against each other, they should also switch to using each other's setups at times. I think it would really add to the dynamic of it all.
I think when they play against each other, rhey should also switch to using each other's setups at times. I think it would really add to the dynamic of it all.
It's kinda crazy how expensive the pro-setup is nowaday, just 3 years ago, for a budget of $3000, I'd expect a 80/90 series card inside, at the very least a Ti 70 model, and the current gen CPU.
Except he spent 800$ on the monitor, he could've easily slotted 4080 and current gen cpu in this setup if he reduced spendings on peripherals. He could've gotten a high resolution, high refresh rate monitor for way cheaper, but he wanted an oled. Same with other peripherals and the case, he could've gotten other high quality components for cheaper, but he decided to spend the budget this way
Yep, exactly what tomas said. With Microcenter deals, you can make a 4070 build for $1400 before the monitor (12900k, z690, 32gb ddr5 6000, 2TB 980), then lets say $1700 assuming a $300 monitor, maybe $1800-1900 if all new periphals. 4080s are around $1150 these days, so still within $2500 if you don't splurge on an OLED monitor or expensive other components
Austin would still win in that case. 250/yr vs 300/yr... thats how I buy my cell phones these days. Can spend 1200$ on a new phone for 4yrs or last gen for 400-500 for 2-3yrs.
I don't agree with this. I think Ken overspent on his PC. Do you need a Sony gaming headset? No, do you need a Fractal Design case, no. Do you need a custom built mechanical keyboard. No. And you can get a decent monitor cheaper than what Ken spent. And you can still have a great experience.
Ken's voice sounded great during the build. That was a different lav mic and sounded great. This is the part where you say he was sick and it was the normal mic.
Crucial BX500 and MX500 are actual MVPs! I've upgraded SO many laptops and old PCs with these drives - and I've yet to see one fail! We are talking in the hundreds in sample size here! Cheap, reliable and respectable performance... they are great!
It's always funto watch this but what they should've done is the same as this but with the same budget to spend, i fail to grasp what the idea behind this is, Austin is doing this one right while Ken is going ham with the prices
This format of the video is definitely entertaining no doubt for the topic. But if you wanted to better compare upgrading versus buying new I feel like limiting the pro budget a bit more would be better and it would kinda make sense for Ken to know what system you started with and go from there. Realistically if a person only has a bit of money to upgrade their current system they arent gonna have 3000+ dollars to buy a new one. If you had that budget from the start it would not be econommical to upgrade a 3770 cpu system really... It'd be cool to see another video in the future taking this into account possibly
Every video Ken is only concerned about what he can get out of it. It’s a pretty sweet job I guess when you can get your boss to buy all the shit that you want for yourself. He does it all the time with mystery tech to just buy shit that he wants.
I do wish there was a Microcenter in the Pacific Northwest. The nearest Microcenter shops are in Tustin, CA and Denver, CO. We do not have any good computer parts stores in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, except for Best Buy, and even then our options are EXTREMELY limited with them. Most of our options are online-only.
What Ausitn and Ken should have done toward the end was switch computers to see if it’s truly based on skill of the player Vs the hardware. Granted I think in that case Austin would win having Kens setup but just something to consider in the future.
A good headset is literally a game changer. I played on a cobbled together setup for a few years, but it was the one thing I insisted on having. I got used to the lag and just ended up listening really closely, once you get the right things down like sitting in certain corners of a map to hear their feet going from 1 surface to another, it starts to become fairly easy.
A 22" 75hz 1080p monitor for 60$...... Man how can they even make that? I mean there is a 22" panel and the electronics, the stand, the plastic casing and a power cord... It's literally a little hard to understand how that's possible! Unless it's some kind of "get rid of this stuff" sale to clear out a warehouse! LOL
They need a non-partial judge I would legitimately be a good judge because I don’t know any of these guys, but I would have to say Ken did have the better set up.
So I built my PC with a i5 3570K , 16 GB of ram, with SLI 670 2X 2 TB HDD(500GB SSD for OS). Upgraded to SLI 980, One 1TB SSD for games. After the 10xx series relies i got a GTX1080(1080p). For $380 I upgraded to r5 3600, B450 MB, and 16 GB memory(1441p). Went from a Cooler Master HAF XM, to a CM H500 ARGB. Now in the same case is a r5 5600x,6800 XT,16 GB memory, 1 TB M.2, 2 TB SSD, 6TB HDD(after M.2,replace 2TB HDD), and 2TB HDD(OG). I just upgrade parts I want through the years. But I am starting to wait longer as I get older(and budget wiser).
If anyone makes it up to the Battle Creat bundle, keep in mind what is on the box is never really what you get as you do have to update drivers and such, so buyer beware
Oh I actually have an "older" pc with a 3770k, this video is actually very interesting to me. Unfortunately I have a very unique use case where I need my power consumption to be very low. I don't think just upgrading a graphics card is going to cut it. The 3rd gen i7 also lacks HVEC capabilities, so if you edit gopro footage this is a big issue.
I just bought the Gigabyte Windforce 4070 GPU... But it's going to 2 1080p monitors so... I have to get a new one to get the full feel of the card. But it's crazy when editing videos and gaming in 1080p.
I almost bought that corsair monitor last month, but decided to go ultrawide and got the msi qd-oled instead. Both are awesome monitors though, cant go wrong!
I feel this comes down to what you can afford. Say I and a single parent and trying to get my kid the best I can do for now and let him be online and have fun. Budget cheap is the way to go. Now if mom and dad both have jobs and are financially good I mean a 3k computer for your kid would work the next 5 years of life easy.
Hey Austin, I got that same 2Boom gaming crate for even less: $3 from Macy's Backstage. Gave the mouse to my sister since I already have a nice XL Medion erazer mousepad and gaming mouse combo from Aldi. Was a great deal for $30. RGB trim on the pad and mouse too. I love that Austin gets a graphicscard that needs Re:Bar support for optimal performance. And uses it in a system that lacks said support.. :)
Any significant gpu upgrade would be held back by the age of the components that was there from the start, so it doesn't matter.
For the GPU an ARC is significally held back by Resizable Bar thatthe others would not be, so It really does matter.@@Tomazack
