    I watched Love on the Spectrum after listening to you and Jeff talk about it on the podcast. The show made me laugh out loud but also brought me to tears because it’s such a reminder of the strength of the human spirit and how dating sucks for ALL of us! We are more alike than we are different. Heather - this episode was once again a masterclass in how to interview people with the right mixture of respect, compassion and humor. To you and your team - keep up the great work!

      I’m watching from the start and have felt that to an extent but she’s also doing her best to stay on topic, keep things moving, and not bore either one of them. Hoping for the best overall.
      Tanner and Connor also have very different personalities and abilities not to mention completely different diagnoses.

    • @Patrickbsfan2
      @Patrickbsfan2 6 месяцев назад +11

      It can be hard for neurotypicals to hold a conversation with autistic people. Just as the reverse can be hard for us. I think she may have spoken a little more on the babying side of things, but in all fairness it can be hard for people to find a balance, since conversation styles are so different between autistic people and neurotypical people. She was very kind and they seemed comfortable. I will take that as a win.

    • @brayton1065
      @brayton1065 6 месяцев назад +1

      Wouldn’t say it’s baby talk, it’s called keeping it simple and short, a lot of which is the style delivered and used in many NDIS organisations. If I use too many words, participants can get overwhelmed or drift off.

    • @Patrickbsfan2
      @Patrickbsfan2 6 месяцев назад +4

      @@brayton1065 the over dramatization of words and “oh yes that’s AWESOME” response to every single statement they make is what I mean by baby talk. The hesitancy to talk in a normal register and disagree on things. No seriousness in her voice. Very unnaturally positive. What you said is contradictory to what I think she did wrong. She didn’t keep it short and simple enough, in my opinion, and said too much too strongly. Like the way you talk to a toddler to keep them engaged. But she didn’t mean this with malice and I think she did better than a lot of people do.

    • @nursegirlsrock
      @nursegirlsrock 6 месяцев назад +4

      I agree, she won't even let them finish talking. She talks nonstop about nothing and doesn't listen. Enjoyed Connor's facial expressions trying to follow along with her random babbling.
