Additionally the school district also hit his school with a 3-4 year athletic probation across all sports. Pretty much this means that if someone else from this school does a similar thing in any sport then that specific team will be forced to shut their program down for the year. This guy was banned from all high school sports for the rest of the season (which sucks cause he was a senior who had offers for both football and wrestling) and caught an assault charge.

If this were the first time the young "man" committed an egregious act of poor sportsmanship, I'd say to punish him and him alone, while letting the team move forward.
But according to an article in Forbes magazine, this individual was kicked off the school soccer team last year for a similar incident.
To me, that means it's now time to punish the school administrators, and the simplest way to do it is to disqualify the entire football team from competition -- this solution is not fair to the kids who abided by the rules, but there aren't too many other ways to underscore the idea, "administrators need to do the right thing or the school will pay a heavy price." Angry parents should be told to direct their wrath at the football coach, school principal and whomever else knew this kid's history and rolled the dice on him.

88 "Escorted" out of the stadium? Your reporter said.... He should have been in handcuffs and escorted between two policemen. Then sent to Juvenile detention. Charge him with assault and battery and end his football career in Texas.
I hope the Ref recovers and has a good lawyer and the family has lots of money so he can get a good settlement from them.
There is NO EXCUSE for this type of behavior.
ABC7 Newscaster says the football player "lost his emotions," like they are already pinning the side of the attacker, like this was the Ref's fault. Ya'll need to quit taking up for these "Out-of-control" kids! NO EXCUSE for this. I coached for 32 years, I ALWAYS knew my players well enough to put an assistant with a kid during an ejection (which happened only once, and the wrestler was DONE! GONE from the gym.
