Thanks! 90% of build videos skip over this part and it bothered me.
yea like wtf. It's like ok so screw this here screw that and bam! Done.
Pira yea and these are the same guys telling me "blah blah blah its just like legos blah blah blah so easy"
I agree took me forever to find a video explaing these more who the hell would know anything about this stuff?
ThumbsUpBrah this vid just saved me so much trouble. i was plugging these in jlpt1 instead of jfp1 😂😅
ThumbsUpBrah ik that's bare annoying
Hardest part of building a pc.
Yep hahaha
Victor P. Completely agree
ihave more cable from front pannel i dont found how to connect ihave a CM stryker and have led on the power button spezial future
I agree ! It's the part that totally scares me.
i thought i broke it, turns out my power button wasnt in the right spot
You're the only one in all of the videos I've watch on this subject that explains how to tell positive from negative. Thanks.
I don't understand why they don't just make a unified LED/Powerbutton/Reset/HDD connector. The HDD light should really go away too.
the hdd led is useful becouse allows to know if the pc is locked and need a restart.
QuantumBraced that's right and if the HDD is working overtime
You can use the caps/num/scroll lock buttons for that purpose.
Well I have a hdd light on my PC MASTER RACE HIGH END S340 motherboard and I want to use it
Mocanu Octavian43 The S340 is a case not a motherboard
The arrow marks positive. Perfect. Thanks
+Samuel Torres Ground goes on negative, Power goes on positive. Perfect. Many thanks.
Saved me ten minutes! thanks!
Some people say triangel, and not arrow..
L
Thanks. Just what I wanted to know. Watching this video without sound.
i have to say that you did an amazing job. i was really confused with these young people just plugging things in and no real explanation to what it was or where did it come from. thanks again.
Good luck with your computer... glad this helped you.
@@EasyPcRepairs let's assume I put these things in the wrong way, what is broken now, the power unit or the mainboard? I had a small firecracker incident though, literally just fucked it up.
@@busfahrer09 I did the same, but nothing happened to mine, today 😅. I was trying to open My desktop after 6 Years.
Still watching in 2019? This guy know how to save you like £100 just to get a repair. Thank you so much for showing me that my self built pc still works even though I swapped its case. You have taught me a thing or 2 so once again thanks for saving me money!!!
You are the only youtube computer build instructor I have found that went into the detail you need to on the front panel connectors. This used to be the hardest part of building a PC, for me, in my first builds. Excellent video!
Thank you Paul!
ok i got it
thanks
it only took me 8 years
the reset button on my pc was never working
since i bought it new
Why is this written like a poem?
Maybe he wrote this message in a smartphone resolution
The reset switch is the hardest. because it has not positive + or negative - signs printed. In all other videos the names of all cables are inserted all facing one direction. Here the RESET SW is facing the opposite direction, The negative cable seems to be WHITE. The other videos have the reset backwards, here the reset makes sense.
Helmet Vanga hey man my power switch is not working how do I fix it
@@khalidwaleed4627 you probably have the power switch plugged wrongly. To be sure which side is Positive (+) on the back of the switch there is an arrow which means that is the positive side therefore the other pin is negative. hope this helps
I would add this advice: Front Panel connectors are usually a bundle of thin connectors which usually make a nice block once hooked up correctly. Therefore, you can tape the headers tightly with electrical tape and that way they stay arranged correctly if you ever need to unplug them for whatever reason and easily plugged back in without a need for manual.
Here is a useful advice!
Thanks
I'm building my first pc and I needed to know which was positive and negative since my case doesn't show it on their headers, they do have arrows though. Thanks for this explanation. No one explains this part, even these so called "pros."
You're welcome! Glad you found this video useful.
That's because the shills are too busy trying to sell you shit! Be safe.
This is true, this one is what needs to be highlighted the most, since they're so small but they don't even zoom in.
positive = color = arrow !!
Yeah positive = color..... unless all the wires are the same color.....
Wow, Thank you so much! I'm new to the PC Building hobby and I was trying to excersise cable management. Got these unplugged and couldn't get it properly back together again. You're a life saver, thanks a ton!
Good to know that this helped you. I bet your cables are all tidy now! Thanks for your comment.
EXTREMELY well explained! Thanks a lot for the lesson. =D
Hey Dave, thank you so much brother. Got a new business PC and had never even touched a motherboard or computer internals before. Was having problems turning on and this fixed me right up and got things running correctly. Keep doing your thing man and just earned a subscriber for your detailed approach 👍
Glad this video helped you out - thanks for subscribing too!
When your motherboard doesn’t come with a manual.
Every single motherboard comes with it´s manual but if in case the is none, than you should download it from the site´s motherboard.
Try and error
@@jakobh3718 Wich motherboard´name you have?
@Parker Beaty same, Xd
my motherboard comes with a manual its just the manual doesnt tell u crap
Thanks for taking time to do this video. Very helpful.
5 years later and its still helps me alot..thankyou so much....i usually thought this was the most complex thing ia have to do...but in reality its so easy👍👍cheers
You're very welcome!
Best tutorial I have ever seen. I especially like you clarifying that connecting the pins the wrong way around won't do any harm to the computer. For some reason people have told me that it does lol
Thank you very much! I'm glad you found this video helpful. Yes, it's good to know that your computer won't be damaged by plugging FPCs in the wrong way around. It's something that I believe many worry about, but isn't a problem. Some FPCs can be damaging if they are plugged in the wrong way around such as the 24-pin so best to watch out for those ones.
Was watching different videos for over an hour. But this video of yours has solved my problem properly. You played well and properly. Thanks
Well explained, not rushed and well shown. Thank you for this video, it helped me a ton.
PraetorianPhalanx Thankyou!

this really helped, nice and clear, easy to follow. thank you.
+ray gilfillan (abacab) You're welcome!
Super nice idea for a short tutorial on this part of motherboard connections, I know this is an older post but so many so called tutorials on pc building never really cover this most important part of the installation. Thanks for a real clear instructional on how to properly do this.
Thank you! I'm glad you found this video useful for this part of building a computer!
Had it not been for this video I honestly would never have thought to check my motherboards manual for the issue I was having with reconnecting some of my cables and as a result I have managed to fix the issue I was having. Words cannot describe how grateful I am for pounting out what would otherwise seem like an obvious step that I kept overlooking.
That's good to hear! Glad this video helped to solve the problem you had!
every time i build a pc I come back to this video, even though the tech is ancient now :) may 2020
July 2020 was calling. They agreed
very good video! now i feel safe doing this myself :)!
+Adam Nubbe Thank you Adam!
Thank you very much, this was very helpful. The fact that you covered in such detail shows your understanding of this part of the build.
I usually dont' comment on these videos, but this did taught me lots. Thanks. I was rebuilding one of my computer and it always had issues with the power button and reset button. After watching this, it becomes more clear.
@@StayNostalgic I fixed mine. It was ez. No power? is it because the power supply was dead?
I was wondering what the hell that arrow meant! This helped me A LOT. :)
2014, still relevant and super helpful! thank you sir! o:
Thank you so much for all the detailed explanation.
It was a Sunday evening and by mistake i had pulled out all these terminals. The next morning i had to use the computer at my shop so i couldn't possibly take it to a repair guy. Found this video and it really saved my life. Thanks again!!!
I'm glad this video helped you out of what could have been a bad day! Great that you're up and running again!
You have been a big help.I pulled the plugs off, thinking they were one big plug.I needed to get to the battery, and the wires were blocking it,from coming out.Your instructions helped me set the wires right. The on/off switch, wasn't lighting up,or the hdd light.now they do.THNX,ALOT.

thx bro finally u solved my problem ..... u got a subscribe

been watching your uploads very detailed best tutorials I've seen so far you deserve more subs :D
+Revan Onarsi Thankyou Revan!
Was just building my first PC, came across these things, got confused, went onto this video, connected, computer posted. Thank you for this, PC building is a lot easier to do than most people think
I love that my manual just points to the front panel reading “front panel”.
That doesn't sound like a very helpful manual!
hank you for this detailed info, it cleared things up quite nicely for me.
***** You're very welcome!
EasyPcRepairs Thanks for your effort to take those close up shots , without those it would have been quiet difficult to understand.
storm144110 Glad this was helpful to you. Thanks for the comment!
Thank you sir! My motherboard and PC case manuals did not mention how to identify +/- for these plugs. A lot of hard earned money spent on my PC parts has kept me from taking a chance on these plugs so my PC build has been on hold for more than a week now. Thank you for providing the information needed to move forward.
Good luck with your computer! Hope it runs smoothly for you.
This video is 4 years old, but is still helping out people assembling PC!! Thanks!
Never buy a pre-built computer if you plan on upgrading, mine had such a generic motherboard it was nowhere to be found on the internet, i had to guess which was which on those connectors, took me a good hour with slow boot times and whatnot.
Predator G5910 used btw, incase anyone was wondering.
Schrödinger I’m literally stuck with the same problem. Couldn’t fit my graphics card into the prebuilt computer so I had to get a new case. Good thing windows is on an ssd so boot times will be quick for me. Trial and error time!
Zer0 was it a 5 pin slot
Just buy a new motherboard if u upgrade
Gaming with bob tell that to my bank account
Postal Service Kingpin my pwr switch is a 5 pin one what do I do?🥺
Thanks man
Hope this has been helpful to you!
@@EasyPcRepairs Yep new PC up and running . Your comment about the arrow to show + saved my day
MY MAN, I was so lost with positive and negative on the power button and reset!! My wires are all black and there was no indication... The little arrow on the back side of it was the answer!! Thank you thank you thank you!
your a good guy you speak very clearly, put clear text up when you make mistakes and you understand everyone has a differing level of experience.
you have earned my subscription
Thank you... and thanks for subbing!
Wow, how far we've come with tech and aesthetics.
You saved my day.... ty
That arrow explanation was a huge help because there was not info in the motherboard manual or the case manual! THANK YOU!
Glad I could help!
Thanks. I have been building computers for my family members forever and I never knew that they put that arrow on the reverse side to indicate positive (+). You just made my day. I just purchased a high end desktop case that had the USB 3.0 connector and realized that my old motherboard didn't have a place to plug it in even though it did have a two 3.0 connectors in the back. I guess that means that I need to start looking for a newer motherboard.
You can buy a converter cable so that you can connect USB 3.0 case ports to USB 2.0 headers on older motherboards. I've shown using one in my video "How to change a computer case". Hope that helps.
YOU ARE AMAZING THANK YOU SO MUCH
No problem!

The manual for my motherboard wasn't very good at explaining things. Watching your video really helped to supplement all of the little bits that I didn't quite understand. Thank you so much! I'm really thankful that you and this video both exist :)
You're welcome! I'm glad to help.
Hi Dave
I just found your channel and you have some very very good videos here, including this one.

THANK YOU SO MUCH
Although my pc now thinks the eject button is power and power is eject lol
thx for saving me from this shocking day XD

I loved how he explained every tiny detail, possible mistakes and results etc.
A nice bright torch, a magnifying glass, the diagram from the MB book, & working slowly help a lot.
This man was my guide for a long 4 hours journey of finding those damn pins.
Just have to have brilliant eyesight, or strong glasses lol
lol watched dozens of videos for this part finally found one :) awesome man keep up the good work
Thank you!
Thank you, this vid helped me, I had seen the triangle, but was wondering if that would be ground or plus :)
Removed those wires by accident 😅😅
I plugged my shit the wrong way cause i can barely see anything on those tiny cables, now my LEDs and Reset button doesn't work. ehh how i hate those tiny pins...
This is the only video I've found that properly explained with great detail how to plug in front panel connectors. Thank you so much!
Glad to help!
Thanks for your video. It helped me tremendously connect these cables to a similar motherboard for which I had no manual.
I am literally this close to going back to console gaming. I hate dealing with this crap.
Mitchell Staley just takes a bit of patience but so worth it in the end
Very good video! Your calm voice, the pace and the repetition makes a perfect explanation. Thanks, it helped a lot. Excactly what i was looking for.
+TWENTY10 - Star Citizen Glad this helped you out. Thanks for your comment!
This was extremely helpful. My system was custom built and it turns out they did not follow the arrow guides for positive/negative. I was able to figure that out from my old MB and from watching this. Thanks!
cheers mate your videos are really thorough a lot of people just breeze through without any quality shots.
No problem, glad it helped!
A thorough walkthrough, thank you!
Brilliant video and a clear explanation of the tricky subject of front panel connections. Good clear diction without the need for the usual crappy music accompaniment. My Foxconn board only shows numbers 1 to 10 with no + or - symbols and no manual. This video is the only one i've found that provides an explanation that helped me cross reference with success. I'm most grateful thanks.
I'm very glad it was helpful for you!
Thank you mate, great video very easy to understand.
Thank you so much man. I was very confused on this part and this video saved my day. You just helped me build my first computer. Thx
That's great, hope you enjoy your new computer!
Just like the old days building PC. Now I need a recap. I got your Video and works perfect guiding me to build one again. Many Thanks Man... ☺☺☺
+RPS Elite Yes, once you've built your own pc, it's hard to go back to buying one that's pre built, even if it's been a while. Glad this helped.
This video deserves more views, since it was really helpful!
Brilliant, this is just the video I needed now. Straight to the point, well explained, thank you!
Glad it helped!
This may seem trivial to people who already know. But when the connections aren't keyed to a specific orientation, are all black, and have an arrow instead of a plus indicator, it can seem like a shot in the dark. I've wired one before but its been 6 or 7 years. Thank you for this video! The arrow was the most important part for me. Excellent video for first timers!
No problem! Thanks for your comment!
Very clear, easy to digest video! I like your sedate, gentle manner of speaking. Thank you so much for your help.
Thank you NimbleJack3! Glad to help.
This 4-year old video already feels like it's from another era. Like the educational videos they showed me in elementary school. And we're talking about a motherboard with Nvidia SLI support!
Thanks, really clear and helpful. I didn't know which was positive on the power cable. I've previously only installed ASUS, which make it easy with a connector, but this time switched out a failed Asus mobo for an Asrock
Cured me of my headache when connecting my mobo to a new case/front panel. Thank you!
Now this dude knows how to do a proper step by step guide by the numbers; I guess I had it, "the wrong way" .. All around and up side down! lol. Thx Brah!
All my older cases have this as a one clip plug; a red and a white, and a blue and white wires with a bakelite clip, (heat resistant; same material car distributor cap are made from, even though very low volts), now cheap China plastic with bad English abrevatuons.
It like instead of getting better in time, we are just getting cheaper, were just going the wrong direction .. round!
Very Respectfully,
WX2
Thank you so much for this video @EasyPcRepairs! You saved the day :)
Thank you very very much, i did not want to risk damaging my first pc build and this saved me. I waited 2 days to look and found your video on google. my problem was that it did not had positive or negative marking and you confirmed by talking about the arrow being positive, thank you
Yes, that part seems to catch many people out. Thanks for your comment!
Thank you, just what I was looking for!
Excellent video. Explained things properly even to the point of telling the viewer that if you plug this in the wrong way, it's not going to damage this particular item. Spoke clearly and showed everything clearly. And he had no rock music blasting away.
I've just come from another video, where the video was shot on a mobile phone, at crazy angles, with no clear instructions. and it had a heavy rock background music playing, so you it was impossible to listen properly about what's being explained.
Well done, keep up the good work !
Thank you Chris!
A lot of people talk too fast for me, but you sir are doing it right. I feel much more confident in building my own computer now :).
+Damien Whitfield That's great to hear. Thanks for your comment!
Great video with detailed instructions and also superb close up shots of the connections. Thanks for sharing
No problem, hope it helped.
Out of all the guides yours is truly the best. Congratulations on that. I would ask if you would update this same video and use a newer motherboard with newer pin setups. Thanks for letting me finish my build much easier.
Thank you! The reason I haven't updated this video is because all modern motherboards are still exactly the same. Nothing has changed for connecting front panel connectors in all this time. If they do change anything, I will update my video. I hope you're enjoying your new computer build!
Haha I got so happy when in the start of the video! That smile priceless! xD
Thank you! Your comment that the arrowhead means it's the positive side has been very helpful..... I imagine it's probably just assumed that most people know this, but I was lost as my case's manual hadn't pointed this out!
Glad it was helpful!
Built a pc for the first time today and this video helped a lot. Thank you.
Concise and precise demo, way to go...
Your videos have helped me build so much when building my first PC. There is an ambient noise in the background of your videos which sounds almost like waves, and combined with your accent and calm way of speaking may or may not have put me to sleep during one of your longer tutorials, haha. But not due to boredom, I assure you! Thanks for going to the trouble of making such detailed videos. So many manuals and guides leave out important information because they assume some things are obvious. The best presentations are detailed enough for beginners yet can also inform the experts and yours accomplish this.
theshamlock Thankyou! This is partly why I started making videos on RUclips. So many assume that people know most of the subject so they leave out so much detail. I try to make my videos as easy to follow as possible. Oh, and I'll try not to send you to sleep next time.. hee hee!
Very informative, helped me a lot. Thanks!
U worked very hard for this. Keep it up n thanks u very much for this video.
Nice video, you have a calm, clear and patient tone. This helped me thanks (I'm always confused about damn connectors) !

thanks alot. was swapping out the case of an old upgraded dell into an old case with a window i had found and repainted. Looking up the dell's motherboard i had learned there where no user manuals. 1:18 worked like a charm. The pc now looks as sexy as my main rig.
