Having spent a few nights in Eigg earlier this year I agree it’s a special place and people. Thanks for bringing back some wonderful memories and portraying the island so well.

Thank you. Yes, it's a little diamond of an island.

Great to see these small communities thrice after they buy ( from what I understood ) the land they live on and work on. Come to think of it, as a foreigner, it's hard to wrap my head around one entity ( real estate company ? Local landlord, head of a wealthy clan dating back way back when? ) owning a whole island, where dozens if not hundreds of people have lived for decades. Keep up the good work & the community there

Yes, Eigg is a great example of community ownership. However, there are still many islands in Scotland who rely on their owner being benevolent.

SpendingThree nights in Mallaig in early July. Hoping to visit Eigg and maybe squeeze in a wee jaunt over to Armadale on Skye. Thanks for the short Eigg insight.

You're welcome. Have a great time in Mallaig. There's a film about Mallaig on the channel, as well as trips from Mallaig to Inverie and Muck. The choice of boat trips is so tempting.

It's all a question of housing. I suggest you contact the Eigg Community Trust.
