+Boris on Bikes Hey Bud, doesn't your bike have a switch on the side for reserves? It says on, off, and reserve, thats to get all the fuel in the tank, and get you to a gas station.
The reserve on a motorcycle is sorta like setting your clocks 10 minutes fast. Now you know you have 10 extra minutes. I leave my tank set on reserve. I know I have 4.5 gallons and how many miles that should take me. But sometimes things happen.
That CHP officer was very helpful in your situation. In May of 1992, I was driving a passenger for my business to Boston's Logan Airport and had my drive belt in the engine of the car seize up and snap off. I broke down just 10 minutes from the Airport and pulled to an off ramp. A Boston Police officer approached me and told me,"That I couldn't park the car at the end of the ramp". I was very polite to the officer and told him," I understand, but right now my car overheated and I was trying to get the passenger to the airport". He offered to take my passenger and called a tow truck for me. (This was after pushing the car off of the ramp an on to the side of the road.) I'm glad your problem with the motorcycle was just out of fuel and not a serious problem. Thanks for sharing. :)
Dial 611 for the Freeway Service Patrol to give you a free gallon anywhere in San Diego. CHP spends most of their day cleaning the freeway and helping stranded motorists. I used to work the tow trucks in the FSP program, fun job but you always have to face the traffic and never take your eyes off of the oncoming deadly weapons! /public service announcement.
Man, I wish the police in the UK were like that! About six months ago I broke down on the M25 (very busy road) and two separate cops just drove right by. However, on a positive note, a biker did stop and left me a couple bottles of water as it was a bloody hot day. Love you're videos mate. Can't believe I only just found your channel today!
+Sillius Soddus I think I just came upon a very nice police man. When I rode my Ducati 996 to work and it stopped working, I pushed my bike past 4, yes FOUR police cars and none even looked my way. I believe it was just me being lucky and finding a nice one. As for the good biker, there are lots of those out there. Good on him for stopping for you. :)

I've seen so many videos about bike safety and politeness etc etc that I think non-bikers are beginning to change their opinions and attitudes towards us in a better way. And your previous vid supports that idea- when you calmed a road rage incident- good for you mate.
Sillius Soddus I agree with you. I think that more and more people are realising we're not just a bunch of hooligans riding around causing havoc.. We're people that care about one another and we have the same passion, so of course we will stop and see if our fellow rider is alright or in need of a drink of water. ;)
It's good that you could laugh it off! I'm sure it's happened to everyone at least once...One time I barely made it into the gas station parking lot before my truck died on me. A couple of nice guys helped me get my truck up to a pump and we had a pretty good laugh about it....so I'm guessing motorcycles run out of gas pretty quick, then?

I've gotten close to running out of gas... on Palomar Mountain... at night. That would have been horrendous. Luckily, I made it to the gas station near Pala Casino with probably 5 miles to my name. I forgot to fuel up before heading up the mountain. Before riding long distance, I bring a 2 gallon tank. I'm gonna have to look into those metal, camping, liter bottles.
"Aaah yooo soo stoopi ! Run outta gasorine!" Harharhar. Don't worry it happens to everyone at some point, that and the killswitch confusion the first time someone walks past randomly and presses it... then when you come back your bike won't start and you call the breakdown truck and wait for an hour then he turns up and flicks the killswitch and starts it.... MOST EMBARASSING THING EVER! Being a newbie biker was a fun time :P
I hate to disagree, but, I have never run out of gas, ever!!! I've been riding for over 20 years.I never understood why people ride(motorcycles) / drive (cars) around with maybe a 1/4 tank of gas. I've been in cars with people and the needle is just kissing "E" and when I mention it, they say "There is plenty of gas left to get us where we're going" WRONG!! If I have anything less than 1/2 a tank in my bike, I fill up. The killswitch did screw me up once, this was before cell phones and I was in VT heading home ( I live in NYC), it was getting late, I hit the ignition and nothing happened. I literally broke out into a cold sweat. I knew I had a least 1/2 a tank of gas, so I'm jiggling cables, check my battery, couldn't find anything. This guy drives asks me if everything is ok, I say no, tell what's going on, and after a few seconds he said' Did you check the killswitch?" DUH!
Ohhh man! At least it wasn't something serious! And es, I probably should have just filled up... But then again, if I had done the right thing, I would have never made this video, so I guess things happen for a reason :)
Where's the time you had to manually put it in reserve so you knew you had 25 or 50km left.. i had that on my Honda Camino when i was 15 and on my Suzuki 125cc '82 when i was 20 (and still ran out of gass) lol
I have had my TV for 2 weeks - done 700 miles and had first service. The fuel gauge is not great as the low fuel level light comes on with 1/4 of a tank showing so unsure how far can go and there is no count down- i have not risked it yet! How been getting the 200 + miles out of a tank but that mainly because I have been nailing it everywhere ;)
It is all digital so you can't really tell when empty is actually empty. But, I no longer have that stupid bike anymore, so I don't have to worry about that anymore :)

I have never gone trail riding and I'm not really sure there are too many trails here in San Diego. Just a huge concrete city with a few mountains 40+ miles away. Can't wait to see your GS in action!
If you run out of gas the joke is on you! (usually). But I ride a Ducati - and the same thing happened to me in cold weather. The bike guzzled gas because the sensors told it to. Italian engineering for you - but nothing beats the design, the sound, and the ride :o))))

HAHAHA it happened to me too, but I was lucky to be just 200mt away from a gas station, when I realized the problem I put the Neutral gear and managed to use the remained speed to get closer and I had to push the bike just for the last few meters.... very lucky, I learned to not postpone to make gas when I get in reserve
Epic, bro! I did the same thing a couple of months ago on my BMW K-12S. It has a fuel quantity sender in the tank, that was designed by Nazi scientists to mislead American riders. I pretty much cross check the odometer and zero it at every fill up.

This looked cool when I walked into the shop, so I took it out for a test ride and loved it! Now, I wish I never bought the damn thing! LOL!

This is a new bike to me so I wasn't sure of the gauge accuracy. Wasn't very accurate as you can tell. I can't speak for other but mine was purely accidental. I always record so if something does happen, I have it recorded. :)
Hey, my bike did the same thing, come to find out after being stopped and helped by a state trooper my bike is on 1 like 1 bar haha, and it died wouldn't start cause of the gas, come to find out the last bar is a reserve! So look for a reserve switch somewhere. I was watching the video like I wonder if he will find the reserve switch if he has one haha.

Biker cops actually have mad riding skills. And their bikes are fast. That cop took off on warp speed. Couldn't even see him after 2 seconds.

HAHAHA it happened to me too, but I was lucky to be just 200mt away from a gas station, when I realized the problem I put the Neutral gear and managed to use the remained speed to get closer and I had to push the bike just for the last few meters.... very lucky, I learned to not postpone to make gas when I get in reserve

Epic, bro! I did the same thing a couple of months ago on my BMW K-12S. It has a fuel quantity sender in the tank, that was designed by Nazi scientists to mislead American riders. I pretty much cross check the odometer and zero it at every fill up.

This looked cool when I walked into the shop, so I took it out for a test ride and loved it!

This is a new bike to me so I wasn't sure of the gauge accuracy. Wasn't very accurate as you can tell.
I can't speak for other but mine was purely accidental. I always record so if something does happen, I have it recorded. :)

Hey, my bike did the same thing, come to find out after being stopped and helped by a state trooper my bike is on 1 like 1 bar haha, and it died wouldn't start cause of the gas, come to find out the last bar is a reserve! So look for a reserve switch somewhere. I was watching the video like I wonder if he will find the reserve switch if he has one haha.

+Casey Cambre Don't worry about it being Italian. There are lots of Italian bikes that are perfectly fine. We all just hear the bad things that happen to bikes. You never hear how well they're doing because that is normal for something to work properly.
