All 3 cities are very safe and friendly.

Some people may care about public transit in these cities: Saint John transit tends to meander to cover as much territory per bus route as possible, but it runs fairly often (every 20 to 30 minutes). It is functional if not great. In contrast, Fredericton has far more limited routes/coverage that run hourly (at best). For example, a destination located ten minutes drive from my apartment requires a 40 minute walk to the bus stop, and then another 20 minutes on the bus! There is also no Sunday or Holiday service. I have no experience with public transit in Moncton, so I will have to defer to someone else.
I live in the GMA, I think all three cities public transit is lacking. I moved here from Southern Ontario and have also visited the West coast (Vancouver). I think there is lots of room for efficiency in transit in NB.
Born and raised in Fredericton. The good jobs tend to hinge towards fully bilingual/who you know. I have always loved Saint John. While it's an industrial town, the quality of life tends to be better just a short drive out to Rothesay, Quispamsis and Hampton. Great video Apex! Keep em coming.

For Cost of living, Saint John would certainly be your best bet. Aesthetically, Fredericton is the best. I've met a lot of retirees who located in Fredericton and have enjoyed the city,especially its recreation and leisure choices.

I grew up in Fredericton many years ago. Pop was 28,000 so apparently it's grown immensely. I've spent time in Moncton (French city) and Saint John (yikes!). Fredericton was extremely safe with nothing of note happening. If you have a family, or plan to, Fredericton is one of the best cities in Canada to raise them.
Moncton has roughly 4x-8x more economic growth than either SJ or Freddy, this has been a trend for nearly 2 decades but Moncton is gaining even more momentum and attracting more investors lately. There's currently 3 skyscrapers planned and over half a dozen sky rise building going up in the next decade which will completely transform downtown and its nightlife. Its also nice to only be 12 minutes from the warmest coast in Canada with 100's km of beaches.

Most of the other planned downtown buildings are residential in the 10-18s range. After this is all said and done Moncton will have a nice & vibrant DT area worth visiting.
I'm late to the party but...I spent the majority of my life in Moncton, over 26 years and 4 years at Base Gagetown with the Army from which I spent plenty of time in F'ton and also in Saint John. I've been back living in NS for 10 years. Looking at these places presently I would say for the most part I am in agreeance with you. Fredericton, IMHO is a gorgeous small city, bit of a hipster vibe, stunning riverfront access with one of the prettiest downtowns. Moncton doesn't have much of a downtown, so to speak. It "feels" very commercialised to me. Last I saw they were throwing up apartment buildings left and right. Just boxes with windows. There's no "soul" to it. It's not a place where you can stroll like in F'ton. Yeah, SJ is a working class town. But it's a city with heart. There is a great old vibe to the place with its heritage buildings and beautiful water front which is being revitalised. Check out Area 506 Waterfront Container Village. In 15 mins or less you can be in the Kingston peninsula or valley, Grand Bay/Westfield! Beautiful places. Your also close to the ocean and the SJ river. SJ is growing as is all three major cities. You did a great job on this. I am planning a trip to Hopewell Rocks (from Rochester, New York) and I plan on staying in Moncton. Was happy to hear it is safe, as I'm traveling along, but with my dog, hopefully, I will find many dog-friendly places to explore in this area
@@paulz6491 Well consider this, your rent and utilities in the winter here in a place like Fredericton can be almost as high as your total for a large new 1 bedroom apt. Also if you beat the pavement in a place like White Rock, you'd be surprised that the rents are about the same as some places in NB.
What about for retirement? Is there some level of cultural events, small scale? Art galleries, concerts, poetry readings? You mentioned the hospital in Fredericton. Do all three have decent hospitals? Lastly, are there serious environmental conservation efforts there, or do the Irving industries and real estate developers just get to do whatever they want to the land and water? Lack of care for the natural environment is one reason I want to escape where I am.
Yes there is absolutely a difference. Nothing too major though. In Saint John you will get more of a coastal type winter because of the proximity to the Bay of Fundy. Fredericton and Moncton are very similar, but if we are going to be exact, Fredericton typically gets less precipitation throughout the year. That being said, the differences are very minor because they are only 145km apart.
You forgot one important thing- Moncton has a large francophone population. It would be difficult to find a job if you don’t speak French- even in retail. People who live in Moncton tend to hate SJ because of the fog, Moncton is out of the fog belt, sunnier and a bit warmer in summer. But the NB’ers in Reddit seem to think Moncton is the armpit of NB, so I guess it’s who you ask. I live in SJ. There’s a lot of govt buildings in Freddy and it’s quite boring, Moncton is too French. SJ isn’t perfect but I’d say it’s the best of the 3.
Saint John is the friendly city with much going on, climate can be foggy and damp. Fredericton is beautiful, nice weather, more snow in the winter and people are not friendly. Moncton is ugly, people are friendly, not a great location if you want to drive somewhere outside of Nb

Until the 1980s Saint John was richer city so the architecture is similar to Boston and part of Connecticut. The same architects designed a lot of the churches as well some of the more classical buildings in the downtown core. month.Moncton was poorer because lost lot population in early 1900s the city started to rebound and became the hub of the Maritimes so they’re new buildings from the 19th 50s and forward the one that remain are ok but the new home are quite because of the French and English influence Moncton is 80% white collar? jobs like Fredricton. The architecture.in Frederick.is outstanding like Saint John as well Saint John it’s quite hilly and lots of beautiful lakes, like the Kennebecasis river , Saint John River so landscape around city beautiful. I used to think folk in Saint John exaggerated about the pretentiousness of Fredericton until I lived there. I have over the years lived in neighbourhoods, in some of the most expensive cities in the world where there was so much garish wealth and millionaires were a dime a dozen, but the snobbery was nothing like that of what I have seen in Fredericton let alone the pretentiousness. As if there was something to be snobby about in this pathetic excuse of a capital city where profiling is rampant and access to primary healthcare is the worst in the province.
WHAT! no Miramichi? Haha I have lived in Fredericton and Saint John, and Miramichi. Uptown Saint John has an awesome night life. And alot of awesome resturants. Shows ect. But has a pan handeling and homless issue. And in the summer it can be difficult to navigate as there can be up to 3 cruise ships there at any given time. Which can dump more people into the uptown core then actully live there. The city of saint Johm is not a pretty city. It can smell. And i frankly worried about my respritory health while living there. And parking is terrible. I live in Fredericton now. It is a far prettier city. Alot of greenery. And parks. And is much cleaner. But i have heard from peolpe in the past that they find Fredericton boring to live in. My preferance is Fredericton. For as mentioned. The more laid back feel. It seems more quiet and cleaner the other 2 and really isnt lacking in commerical optio s for shopping and eating out. Both have amazing farmers markets. But man.... what about MIRAMICHI! Jeez. The booming metropolis. The center of not much! We got a bridge. Some fish. (Fishing there is amazing and a huge draw.) A legit beautiful bassilica. St micheals on the hill is gorgeous. Really Miramichi is where you want to live if you love the outdoors. Better bring a job with you though. Cause your options are retail. The federal pay roll center. Or the rifle registry. After that.. there isnt alot.
It's like the auto industry in Detroit, a once thriving industry in the city just faltered after the yard was closed in 2003. Saint John is starting to recover though, they're profiting off the tourist industry (when COVID-19 is over obviously)
Average salary statistics is not a good indicator of how much you’ll make in each city. Saint John has some, if not most of the highest paying jobs in the province. Many tradespeople make $200k plus. It’s diluted by lower paying jobs due to poverty levels. As for quality of life, uptown Saint John with it’s historical character and architecture and the river/bay system along the northern edge of the city are inspiring. Saint John should not be defined by the industrial areas - it has some of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Canada stretching along the waterways. If you are inspired by traffic, 1980’s architecture, strip malls and chain restaurants - Moncton is for you IMO. Saint John is a small city with a big city feel. Moncton is a big city with a small town feel.
Exactly my impression from visiting the province in 2019 you should also add that fredericton being the capital city and all has great family vibes and is feels a bit more conservative with all the government workers but globally i think New Brunswick is a beautiful place with kind polite and good people

The vast majority of people in Canada are very welcoming of all people from many different backgrounds. The bad stories you may hear from different places do exist but do know it does not represent the majority of Canadians

@@perfectautodetailingpolish7416 The pulp mill in the middle of the city adds a huge stench, especially to the west side of town. The oil refinery doesn't help, though it isn't so central. The main highway runs smack through the middle of the city as well, dividing the city. The city feels like an industrial wasteland. If you don't mind a commute it is much nicer to live in Grand Bay or Quispamsis, or Rothsay if you can afford it. Disclaimer: I haven't really spent much time in Saint John in the last 20 years, so things might have improved.

For the last few years Saint John has had almost no snow because it gets washed up by rain usually the next day.
Fredericton is colder in the winter but Moncton gets more snow. Saint John is more temperate and has much less snow.

I doubt there is much difference in the music scene in each city but Moncton is closer to Halifax, which is the music hub of the east coast.

What's wrong with st John please?

@@perfectautodetailingpolish7416 The pulp mill in the middle of the city adds a huge stench, especially to the west side of town. The oil refinery doesn't help, though it isn't so central. The main highway runs smack through the middle of the city as well, dividing the city. The city feels like an industrial wasteland. If you don't mind a commute it is much nicer to live in Grand Bay or Quispamsis, or Rothsay if you can afford it.
Disclaimer: I haven't really spent much time in Saint John in the last 20 years, so things might have improved.
