Hello, I need your help. I am French and I have the same weapon. do you know if it is possible to extend the picatinny rail on the top where it stops without having to change the entire handguard? if you have an internet link with the part that allows you to extend the picatinny rail I am interested. thank you friends .

I resigned from Diamondback 3weeks ago. I was a quality technician and CMM programmer. I left on very good terms. I’m sorry for the issues you have with this rifle. I can assure you that (as of three weeks ago) the locations and diameters of the release pin holes, the safety selector switch hole and the trigger pin holes are being inspected per sample inspection of each lot of 100 lowers. The diameters are measures with calibrated pin gages and the locations are measured with a programmable height gage (Tesa Hite). This was not always the case, but it is now. The uppers are purchased and could contribute to or be the problem for the release pins. On my last day Diamondback had just machined their firs upper. It will be meticulously inspected on a Zeiss CMM and all the bugs worked out before they go into full production. They may be in production now, I don’t know. With diamondback controlling both lowers and upper, these issues will go away. As far as the hand guard goes, Diamondback has five CNC’s dedicated to machining hand guards. They mak many different designs. Some are larger. You should look up the new Obsidian model. It has the larger diameter hand guard. I want one of those. I wish I could address the over gassing issue, but I cannot. The barrels are machined in another facility that is close by. I have worked there a couple of times, but I was just filling in for the vacationing QA tech there. The triggers are purchased. Some models have far better triggers. (The “Diamond” and “Black Gold” models)
In the 2.5 years I was there, the quality and mindset of the organization has made a 180 degree shift for the better. If you tested a rifle made today you would like it far better.
I’m sorry for this rifle’s poor performance.

I just forwarded this and my previous comment to the Diamondback QA director and QA manager. The QA manager responded to me that the “over gassing” issue has recently been brought up to him. He suspects that it may be a barrel issue. I’m no longer there, but I suspect this will be investigated and corrected very soon. Thank you for this review, though it’s not what I want to hear. Please don’t give up on Diamondback. They are moving rapidly to being a supreme quality gun at a very good price.

Didn't even bother putting on iron sights, just went straight with a red dot. Otherwise no complaints about it. Quite accurate for a "low budget" MSR. I bought it as a comparison to my PSA builds... but must say my builds are about as good or even better. But still love my DB15, because it's my. Stay safe Big Jay.

My DB15 is extremely over gassed, it is a lot louder, muzzle bounce everywhere even with a bipod, and the gas is leaks to the back of the charging handle. Shooting a 5-6 inch spread at 100 yards. I can do 2 inch with my Saint Victor. I swap out the trigger out. That trigger was so bad. It would creep trying to find the wall and hard to tell when the trigger will break. Gonna get a adjustable gas block to hopefully get a tighter group at 100 yards. Sad you didn't shoot and share your 100 yards.

I bought a DB15 a couple of years ago, have run thousands of rounds through it, and had “0” problems. I bought a pad for the stock before I shot it, so never experienced it digging into my shoulder. Take down pins push out with no problem when I separate the upper and lower, never had a trigger pin issue. I don’t know, maybe some are machined better at the factory? Over-gassed? I shoot at an outdoor range, and maybe your ventilation fans are not running up to par at your indoor range. I added a tac light and red dot, that’s it. I bought it for home defense, and it’s extremely accurate. I’m not shooting at anything longer than 25 yards with a gas gun anyway. I do all of my distance shooting with my hunting rifles.

You do realize you can change the buffer weight and spring for under $100 and make that gassed perfectly. Ive done it to 2 diamond backs. Spitting brass at 3 oclock now run Like a sewing machine. Cut the recoil in half. I have this same one. But if you cant do these things yourself mabie not the best choice tho. Just got one fde. Even the barrel was ceroketed fde on this newer model for 550. And it comes with the full length 15 in handguard now to.

@@thetexasgunvault how does it not fix the problem? If it's doing what it's supposed to with h2 and sprinco extra power spring? Cuts the recoil in half. I get it your right with the gas port is to big. But being able to adjust with a buffer is a good thing. If the port is to small you can't turn it up.. Only option is to drill it.. so I would think being over gassd being able to adjust it with buffer and spring is alot better. Alot more options. If it's under gassed your just screwed period.

That doesn’t look like a stock charging handle. I have a DB-15, and have changed out a bunch of parts. Mine is a good gun, but I wanted better parts as tine went on. The stock charging handle was small, so I changed it for a Breek Warhammer for the width. I also put a Magpul CTR and a QD on the front for a sling, and a Magpul AFG and bipod. I also run a Sig Sauer Tango 6 LPVO optic.
It’s my first AR, in hindsight In would have spent more on something with better (nicer) parts.
I haven’t noticed any gas issues with the ejection port or bleeding through the charging handle, but I pretty much stick to .223 55 gr for range time just to keep my cost under .50 a round.
I do have three mags of 5.56 75 gr BTHP for home defense, one loaded and in “cruiser” state.

The Diamondback db15 sell like hot cakes at most local gun stores for the budget price range. For the most part these are good overall guns for what you pay, I call them the Taurus of Ar's. They don't suck they just work and like the Taurus its definitely a notch or 2 above a Hipoint. I know Taurus made an Ar15, but I am mainly speaking about pistol comparisons for those that know more about pistols. You get my point, pun intended LOL.
Anyway, I would put some of the diamondbacks close to with the cheaper Smith and Wesson Ar15's. The S&W Just work as well. I actually like the S&W M&P15 Sport II it is very affordable as well nothing wrong with them on function, I just don't like the Grip on them. Some Law Enforcement around here use the S&W M&P15 Sport II. You will have people that hate on S&W too or any brand for that matter if they don't offer a 2-3K+ Gun.
I would put American Tactical Omni like a Hipoint, they are your very bottom Tier. I have shot some and yeah they fire but the quality is what you would expect for very bottom.
If you want a solid step above a diamondback and even a S&W ar15, that still is below that $1000 price point I would direct you towards IWI Zion. I see them for $870's and sometimes it is hard to find them. Probably my favorite for that $900 price point and no, you don't NEED to have a $1000+ AR to be considered good. The IWI is probably one of the best ar15's under $1000 if you buy outright, (not talking if you build one).
There are others worthy of mentioning like Sig sauer m400, there are some versions in the $850-950 range.
Stag arms has some lower models in the $800ish range.
I would go for the IWI if you just want something that is very awesome quality for the price and under $1000. It is definitely considered a "Mid range" gun IMO. I would not define it as budget so to speak, more as mid range. Definitely not a top Tier gun / model of course that is a completely different ball game where you are going to spend very well over $1000+ lol.

I think you miss the point. Someone can be hurt by a homemade, single shot 22lr. But I hope that as a decerning consumer who appreciates finer things, maybe just the potential of functionality would not be the only metric you use when deciding what firearm is best for you. If it is, I am sure you drive a 1972 Ford Pinto without an interior, simply because it has the potential to get you to work or the store. I personally feel that you might be coping for owning this gun and simply disagreeing with an opinion some guy on the internet has because he is not falsely assuring you that your $600 AR is as good as a $3k Knight's Armament SR-15.
