      normally it's a sugar syrup or any kind of jam or jelly melted and brushed over top... In the US anyway. lol

      You can make a gelatin glaze; there are numerous recipes online. The simplest glaze would be to melt (in the microwave or on stovetop) and strain apricot jam.
