Damn, really WTH were they thinking? Either tennis fans in Japan seat in front of the TV to listen to them incessantly talking or this was the first and last attempt of their short-lived career as commentators 🤣
Yes, he used the Wilson Pro Staff in 1984, which was designed with him in mind, but only for a short time. Then he went back to the T2000 until the end of 1986, I think. @@grahamlucas1648
Borg and Connors had the best backhands during their days. Connors has so much control and power on his flat/slice backhand. Borg's is different with his topspin. But its the one that's emulated by future generations. Players want to hit with topspin. Nobody has copied Jimmy's. Maybe its too unique.
Borg remains my all time favorite player. I've watched a lot of his matches over the years and I have never seen him miss so many ground strokes. Does anyone know what year this was?
So true. ..I think at around 30 he still could have got back in the top twenty at least (well, I don't think he should have retired at 26 lol); but, trying a comeback at 36 was a bridge too far.
@@としあきとしあき-d1i In 1986 Connors and Borg played in Japan 3 times in May: Jimmy wins in Tokyo, Jimmy wins in Yokohama. Do you know the result of the third match?
I was actually very angry with Borg, retiring at 26. We should have had another 5 years minimum of him, Jimmy, Mac, and a rising Lendl. I felt deprived.
I mean, Connors knows it would be bad form to pile it on at an exhibition after winning the first 6-0. I think he took his foot off the gas a bit, then put it back on in the 3rd.
Borg is still playing quite well here!
Great video, Too bad these announcers cant keep there commentary between points!

Borg was playing like he had a plane to catch.
he had an appointment with his dealer
Japanese commentators never shut up.
Fantastic!!!! Thank you. Always wanted to see Borg exhibition matches in his late 20s or early 30s. I think he was 30 here.
This might be 1983?
@@davedrust6378 No - it's 1986. Look at the replies below.
@@grahamlucas1648 Connors was still using the T-2000 in 1986? I don't think the comment you are referring to is accurate.

1986, he has short hair then.
He was my father's favourite player as well. My father was from Northern Germany. When he had too much (Öl) ale, he would call him "Born Bjorg", lol.
Borg qui pensait qu'au Tennis on ne pouvait pas franchir la ligne de fond de court.
He should have made a comeback at this time. He had 5 or more years to get back into the top 5.
So true. ..I think at around 30 he still could have got back in the top twenty at least (well, I don't think he should have retired at 26 lol); but, trying a comeback at 36 was a bridge too far.
He was burned out. Lost the desire. Not everyone loves tennis for a long as Connors did.
@@IAAP. John McEnroe played many years he retired in 1990's only
Thank you for sharing this footage, what city is this played in? Also, Is it played in 1986?
It was held in Yokohama, Kanagawa.
It was done in 1986.

I think he lost his motivation after losing to McEnroe 3 times in a row.
Yes, this is what I think as well.
