I almost bought this amp once! My other option was a JMI similar to this, though I don’t recall the exact model. I went with a Sound City Studio 20, which I’ve just reviewed on my channel. Still considering this one and won’t hesitate when the opportunity arises again. UK amps are the best!
Beautiful sounding amp in every setting and config, especially with the LP.. I sure wouldn’t want to let this one go after putting everything into it as you have done, but I’m sure the owner will absolutely love it..
as kid in 1986 I got a jmi 1964 Vox Ac30 TB head only off my guitar teacher, that had a problem with it cutting out after a few mins. It would overdrive heavy on the normal channel. He said it was not fixable. I traded it with some cash for a 72 Super Lead 100w marshall for a metal band i was in. Boy wish i would never have done that now.
Sounds great. I personally like brighter edger and roughish distortion so I think I would love one of these. I mean I love my plexi Marshall. If an ac15/30 in todays shops isn’t this, then I’m glad I’ve held off from buying one. Would love to have or even try one of these. One day maybe. Great vid as always!
I've yet to own an AC30, nor get much play time on one, but I'm delighted to learn that they can be so versatile! Do you have any insights into these amps and Treble Boosters, or anything else related, for us Brian May fans? (I've acquired a BMG guitar, a set of what are considered the most accurate repro trisonic pickups by Adeson, and will soon secure a bridge conversion kit.)
Thanks, I never thought of jumpering all 3 channels, will have to experiment! A question though: is the Brilliant and Normal channels being out of phase with each other when the Top Boost is engaged a characteristic of only the AC-30/6 with the Top Boost add-on, or is that true of the AC-30/6 with integrated Top Boost as well? I have an AC30HW60 (60th Anniversary) and I haven't noticed any phase cancellation when I jumper any of the channels together.
@@PsionicAudio Can't get an out of phase sound with jumpered channels and no comb filtering when I change volumes, so the 60th must be in phase as well.
Question about the top boost add-on...how do you access that when the amp is all put back together? Do you have to reach into the cabinet and adjust by feel?
I always thot matchless, dr z, Morgan badcat and the likes were like rooted in ac30 maybe with more balls or something, like to me they never come across as sounding anything like this amp; having never tried any of those models but I thot they were not marshalledque if u will.
I think the copyright strikes are ridiculous for demos like these. It’s not like you are using the music to make money. Or even playing the whole song. You’re doing a demonstration to show what something sounds like….
I agree. The only real strike I've had was for playing some Slade on a Christmas video. I can't think Noddy would approve. But just in case I try to keep the references short or I'll deliberately alter something to give a flavor.

Your title was almost Beato-esque. Thanks for not going all the way and asking "What Makes This Amp Great?" 😛
that amp sounds truly phenomenal! i had no idea…
I am sure the owner will enjoy this video as much you did making it. Nice Work on restoration.

man, that must be the best amp demo I've ever watched! so complete!!!

Beautiful tone & work done
Very well-done - that was a fantastic demo!

The amp is sounding awesome, by the way.
Sounds killer!!!
Three in a row, very impressive. Did you get back home?
Have you ever played an JMI AC50/4 with a matching 1x15 cabinet? It got scary on an atick, rumbled the place like an earthquake xD
Edit: using a bass

Brian May’s tone is the cranked normal channel with a treble booster.

All JMIs and the TBX series. Dunno about the 60th but the regular HW has them wired in-phase (yet one more mistake in the HW circuit).

It's available on the rear panel. The rear wood panel doesn't cover it up.
